Why continue to post this about masks if it’s causing such nastiness between people??? If I want to wear a mask LEAVE ME BE. If I don’t want to wear one LEAVE ME BE! Respect people’s decisions and stop being so nasty people! You have no clue why people want to wear masks and why the others don’t. You don’t know their stories, you don’t know their backgrounds. So stop trying to shove your opinions down people’s throats! This is AMERICA! The land of the FREE and the home of the BRAVE!

    • hip2trade

Probably because people like to know before they go shopping and then find out at the store. Who doesn’t want a heads up? I don’t understand why posting this information should bother anyone. It’s just factual. They also post here about stores closing/bankruptcy. Good information. People disagree/agree all the time. It’s life.

    • Tiffany

I mean no disrespect, but it’s not about opinions, suggestions, or even rights for that matter. If “WE” as Americans are going to beat this virus and stop the infections, people dying then “WE” as Americans need to respect one another and do it for each other. God forbid it’s going to take one person close to you to get this virus and they not even be able to see family members while they are struggling or even dying. For the people that don’t want to wear masks please realize the importance of stopping the spread and the only way to do that is to wear a mask! If we all do our part now, hopefully we can turn this around and stop the spread! It’s a easy, small thing to do, so why not do it for however long we have too..so we can try and have some type of normal..whatever that might be. No one is trying to take away your rights, we are trying to stop the spread of this virus. So please everyone do their part and wear masks so we can stop the spread! If I’m wearing a mask to protect you, all I ask is you do the same..no more.. no less.

    • Samantha Hardman

Because you are apart of the problem. It should NOT be a choice. IT SHOULD BE MANDATORY. It is America and American’s like YOU that are the problem.

  2. Rene Tetreault

I am of the school “My house, My rules” … I respect others (and myself) enough to do what is asked of me and for whatever reason I don’t want to comply with your wishes I will go elsewhere. That’s it… that simple. I see no reason for a debacle in telling others what to do or think. Lot of people without that self-respect, isn’t there?

    • polishpotatopancake

Exactly. No respect for anyone. Imagine going into someone’s house and they ask you to remove your shoes and you get in their face screaming that you have the right to wear shoes and you don’t care if it’s their house you’ll do what you want. That’s how the anti-mask crowd comes across, public health risks notwithstanding.

      • E

        a Karen.

  3. aflgirl

History repeating itself: Segregation [ seg-ri-gey-shuh n ] (noun): 1. the act or practice of segregating; a setting apart or separation of people or things from others or from the main body or group 2. the institutional separation of an ethnic, racial, religious, or other minority group from the dominant majority. 3. the state or condition of being segregated, set apart, separated, or restricted to one group 4. something segregated, or set apart

    • polishpotatopancake

No. Being asked to wear a mask to enter a place of business is not segregation. You’re not being oppressed for being born a certain way. You’re being told that you have your rights and so do others. You have a right to not wear a mask. Business have a right to refuse you service for not complying.

      • aflgirl

See what you want to see, but if the world continues down this slippery slope, this is where we will be headed. Separate shopping places for mask wears vs non mask wearers.

        • polishpotatopancake

… By choice. That’s the entire point. You can’t complain about your rights and in the same breath ignore the rights of others and expect to be taken seriously. You can CHOOSE to not wear a mask because you have that right. But businesses can also CHOOSE to refuse you service because that is their right. Nobody owes you the right to be socially irresponsible during a pandemic. If everyone who refuses to be socially responsible during a global pandemic CHOOSES to not simply wear a mask in businesses and is refused service because of their CHOICE (totally the same as being as refused service for your skin color, yeah right), then they can CHOOSE to get their goods and services by other means.

          • aflgirl

This is true, but let’s talk about social responsibility for a moment…. if businesses truly wanted to be socially responsible for slowing the spread of Covid 19, shouldn’t they be providing masks to shoppers or donating masks to the general public at no cost instead of making a profit of it during a pandemic? It would the “socially responsible thing to do.

            • polishpotatopancake

You’re exhausting with each goal post move. So you agree that it’s not segregation but you want free masks now or the point of social responsibility during a pandemic is moot? You just want to play the victim.

              • aflgirl

No victim here, just critical thinker. Nowhere did I say I was for or against mask wearing. All I said was that we are headed toward segregation if things continue the way that they are. It’s this “us vs them” mentality that is tearing this country apart. But I do believe that if businesses are mandating mask wearing, masks should either be given away or sold at cost of manufacture, not sold for profit.

                • Snowflake1211

Girl, you’re crazy. If you don’t want to wear a mask just order for store pickup or get amazon delivery. It’s not that big a deal. It’s not segregation if you have a choice. Being segregated by your skin color, you don’t have a choice. You can CHOOSE to wear or not wear a mask, you can CHOOSE where to shop, you can CHOOSE how you shop and those stores can CHOOSE what kind of customers they want in their stores. Not critically thinking, just trying to stir the pot

                  • A

A Florida girl. It’s people like you that are making my state surge. Every store has free mask at customer service. Just stop being such an entitled drama queen. Your not the most important person on earth.

                • Liz

According to your critical thinking, when a store requires you to wear shoes they should provide free ones.

  4. fourboymommy

Why why why? Where are the hip2save moderators? Please STOP posting about masks. This is a deal app!

    • hip2trade

Nothing wrong with posting here. This is a Shopping/deals app. I like to know about changes before I shop. Thanks Hip2save for keeping readers/followers informed. You don’t have to click on these topics. It’s completely optional. I don’t read all the post. Just the ones that interest me.

    • polishpotatopancake

This sounds exactly like a tantrum. Veruca Salty.

    • KatJ

Many states are requiring people to wear them. With school starting, kids will need them to get on the bus and attend class.

I appreciate the post because they can be quite pricey.

    • Tara

I’ve asked them if they could shut comments off to these type of posts. I think the more interaction—the more $$$ they get. All it is does is cause more division. They could post about what stores have no mask policy and shut comments off completely.

  5. fourboymommy

We get it everyone is requiring masks. Stop posting about it. Enough is enough.

    • rochellemcgee

They do it for clicks, unfortunately.

  6. Observant mom

Text Collin and ask her disable comments on mask posts. If she gets enough texts I bet she will take action.

    • hip2trade

She can see your message here. 🙄

    • StephB

Noooo!!! I love them!!!😂 such great entertainment!!

  7. riss

This should have been done months ago. Maybe we’d have lower cases if we wore mask at the beginning or middle of the pandemic. Our county (Bay Area) mandated face covering back in mid-April, and we didn’t have a surge in cases.

    • Ggsrunt

My STATE: South Dakota. – Never has a stay at home order or a mask mandate. Seems like we are doing great. No second wave, no surge, oh and our economy is at or better then this time last year. Thank you Governor Noem for keeping us free.

      • frankj

SD is 46/51 (add DC) in population – 900k. yet, it is 36/51 in deaths per 100,000 (131/100,000). so…..really not very good considering the population density is much less than almost everywhere.

      • Momof3

        🙂

  8. KatJ

    Thanks for posting. ❤️❤️❤️

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

      You’re so welcome!

  9. Anonymous

Who visits either of the Dakotas? No one visits you and no one ever amounts to anything to get out.
Of course you dont have a surge.

    • Pinky

      Lol

    • frankj

that’s not nice. i road my bike across SD last summer. it was a pretty ride and everyone i met was very nice. well, except for the idiot who threw a full water bottle at me while going 70+mph – he wasn’t nice but luckily he wasn’t a good aim either.

      • Joyce

My husband has had the same thrown at him while biking….and cobs of corn!

    • rochellemcgee

I’m going to SD in two weeks on a road trip. I already recognize you’re a coward, “Anonymous,” you don’t have to be a snob, too.

      • M

So many wealthy New Yorkers are choosing your state to move to. Don’t be surprised if the covid does come there. Those same New Yorkers took over Florida since they already had second homes there.

        • frankj

covid-19 is already in SD. while SD ranks 46/51 states (includes DC) it ranks 36/51 in deaths per 100,000 right now.

  10. siena95

Ya, stop telling us about masks, I don’t see how this relates to bargains, deals, or saving. Masks are a joke and don’t work unless you are severely sick with a cough and want to cover it , otherwise they do little to nothing and A healthy person shouldn’t be forced to wear one! Your hands are what spread germs and unless your mask is sealed to your face, a virus can penetrate it. Let’s not forget how unhealthy it is to wear a mask and breathe you own co2 back in and out…not good at all.

    • weml

That has already been debunked. Please stop getting your information from memes and bad science.

  11. Deanna

If you dont like the posts about masks and whatnot then dont click on them. And everyone that is saying what hip2save should and shouldn’t be posting needs to calm down. Because they have the right to post whatever they feel like…

  12. Samantha Hardman

American’s are the REASON why the REST OF THE WORLD does NOT want YOU in THEIR country! I am an American thankfully NOT in America and haven’t been for two years now and the way this is going, I will continue to select assignments far away from that mess of a country. I have been in a country where we were the EPICENTER of the pandemic and we went into lock down March 16. Since then everyone’s life has changed big or small. Since then I have been now able to enjoy my number one passion again, traveling. Just the other day I was in Venice, Italy. Before South Tirol, Austria and various places thru out Germany. One MAJOR thing in common with all of these places though is that there is a FACE MASK REQUIREMENT or BE FINED upwards of $200. I have been tested covid because I had to go to the ER, it was nothing. My countries state even has free covid tests for anyone who wants them. Tell me why not better safe than sorry like the USA? Why not just wear a mask? Why not still enjoy my hobbies but with a mask? Why are American’s so self centered? When will you wake up and realize it is not about money or politics, it is about safety for all of us. Surely, money and politics plays a role but when the whole world is dealing with this (the whole world is much bigger than the USA and Mexico for those who never leave anyways) you do what is BEST for the good of the WORLD. My life is more important than YOUR life and yet I care about you and your family even though I do not know you nor owe you anything but I care to wear my mask to protect me and YOU. Continue to complain and whine about the masks, you will regret it when it is you or someone you love fighting to live.

    • D

So you’re an expert because you’ve traveled for 2 years??
We have immediate family that in Europe and what you are saying is 100% false.
Their numbers are rising and they are also defying the mask law. Sure, some go by it but just like here some so not.
Fortunately we will still be able to go because of our status but traveling (or living abroad) for 2 years does not an expert make 🤪 You’re still considered an annoying American 😂

  13. Ana

I was a hot mess today at the store today, went in all fine with my mask on and loading my cart and loading my groceries back in made my mask fall off and the strings tangled in my hair and then it went over my eyes, at least I got compliments on my cute mask but the cashier ask if I was ok👌

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Aww, You are SO very welcome! Thanks a bunch for your kind words! I’m so happy you have been able to snag such great savings for your family. 🤗💖🥰🙌

  14. MamaJoy

Wearing a mask is so simple and prevents so much hurt and heartache. It’s as simple as covering your mouth when you sneeze or cough, it doesn’t catch everything, but it makes a huge difference.

  15. Stephanie

I read Dollar Tree’s policy and did not see that masks were required, just requested. It said required in areas with mask mandates. Disappointing because I love Dollar Tree. “ We also request that our customers wear face coverings, and require face coverings where required by state or local ordinance.”

    • Joyce

You don’t have to be disappointed – just wear a mask.

  16. StephB

Keep these posts coming Hip2Save! First, I do like to be informed before going somewhere to bring a mask. Second, I come for the entertainment! 😂 I love reading the comments. I have my options and very rarely state them here. But I respect everyone’s right to state theirs. I love reading both sides!!

    • Coupon Keating

I could not agree more!!! I love to see both points of view!!

  17. MamaBug

I appreciate the mask posts because I like to make an informed decision when it comes to businesses I wish to shop at. I would think that knowing in advance whether a mask is required or not would help everyone (those for and against masks) make a decision. If I were against masks, I could choose not to shop at those places or choose to shop online instead if I still wanted to shop there. If I were for masks, I could choose to shop these places over places that didn’t require masks. Knowledge is power. However, all the arguments are ridiculous. I agree that the comments should be turned off, or at least moderated. Comments that were helpful (like which other stores were requiring masks) would be appreciated but this petty arguments are just ridiculous and a waste of time.

  18. JP

Funny, you didn’t even hear about Covid when they were looting and rioting, now that is over, back to our regularly scheduled program.
We did not shut down for Ebola, Bird Flu, Swine Flu, etc.
We did not shut doors to businesses for months for those.
Then there was Murder Hornets, no more hearing about them.
When is the last time the media has shown any good news, that’s because good news don’t sell.
The closer we get to election, the less we will hear about Covey.
My neighbors son missed out on his going to the prom, and graduation ceremony.
When I don’t watch the news, I feel better.
I saw a couple the other day waking their dog, the couple had on masks, and so did the dog, I’m serious, in 90 degree weather.
I will wear mask in store, but not taking my daily walk, that’s where I draw the line.
