This Reader Puts Her Wicker Baskets Collection to Good Use!
Gift baskets are a classic gift that will never go out of style as far as I’m concerned. They are extremely versatile and can be used to celebrate virtually any occasion. Sure, you can buy them from the store usually for a huge markup or you can make them yourself which I always prefer to do, not only to save money but also because it’s so much fun to add specific things or inside jokes to the basket that you know the recipient will enjoy.
As much as I dig putting together and delivering gift baskets, I do have to admit that having the gift baskets already on hand is not something I have thought about previously. This would certainly come in handy!
Hip2Save reader, Kay, on the other hand, has thought about this and has decided to use her plush collection of wicker baskets to fill with goodies whenever she needs them. Check out her story…
I collect a lot of things, from miniature tea sets to nativities to cute erasers. The best collection is my wicker basket collection that my family often tells me to purge.
Do you know why this is the best collection to keep though? Because I love using my wicker baskets for gifts to cheer people up. I have used them for “Get Well”, “Sunshine”, “Baby Shower”, “Graduation”, and “Blue” (missing you) gifts. And with this pandemic, I’ve been delivering gift baskets with toilet paper, hand soap, and hand sanitizer.
Gift baskets are so fun and versatile. You can have a theme or just throw a bunch of random things together. With all the variety of items, the recipient has got to like something. Overall, I just love that with all the wicker baskets I own (which most of them were free or given to me) I can continue to use them to bring cheer to many people’s lives, especially during this pandemic.
Hip Tip: Thrift stores are a great place to pick up inexpensive wicker baskets!
Thank you, Kay, for not only sharing your story but also for reminding us that gift baskets are not just frugal and fun gifts to give, but they can bring lots of cheer to others, and as you stated, this is especially needed now during the pandemic. You have a knack for creating lovely and creative baskets and I hope you continue to bring smiles to people’s faces! 😍
