Use This Readers Suggestion to Thank Your Delivery Drivers All Year Long
As Hip2Save readers, you are most likely familiar with that awesome feeling of getting a package (or five) delivered to your doorstep. Oh, how I love a package delivery! As much as we love the excitement of receiving packages, we shouldn’t forget the people who make all those deliveries possible especially with all the extra online shopping people have been doing during the pandemic.
Hip reader, Michelle, has thought of a unique way to let those delivery drivers know that they are appreciated year-round. Check out her story…
During the Christmas season, we placed baskets outside our home as a thank you to the various delivery persons. We intended to bring it in after Christmas. However, because we still had a high volume of home deliveries, we left it out. Now the baskets just change with the season – Valentine’s Day, Black History Month, etc. Spring is next…
Thank you, Michelle, for sharing your thoughtful and creative idea with us! We love the idea of changing the basket to match the season! This is such an easy but effective way to not only thank the delivery drivers but also offer them a little break with a snack or refreshment since they are most likely extremely busy all day.
We love that these thank-you baskets for delivery drivers is really catching on, and we sure hope it continues even as life slowly gets back to normal.😍

Wow, Michelle, that’s really nice of you, I am sure all of the drivers appreciate your kind gesture.
I work for USPS and I have to say personally, these set ups are sooo appreciated! One day I had worked something like 13 hours straight, with nothing on my route (we aren’t allowed to devoate very far from our line of travel). I had forgotten my snacks at home on the counter 🤦♀️🤷♀️ I was starving!! I came across one of these toward the end of my route and oh what heaven! They had nuts, beef jerky, tuna packs, and gatorade. I don’t even like tuna but I so desperately needed some protein. It hit the spot and I felt a lot better. These are an oasis in the desert sometimes. I was so thankful I even told their ring! So to those people who put these out THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
No, THANK YOU!! We all truly appreciate your and your peers dedication and hard work. I’m so glad you had a kind generous person on your route.
Luv this idea, gratitude n generosity. I might just have to follow suit. I use USPS pick up service a lot. I did give him/her a box of chocolates for National Mail Delivery Day, something like that.
If the mail service wants a tip from me they will have to deliver the mail on time.
I can no longer pay my Bill’s by mail or expect packages on time.
We live in FL on the edge of some woods so we have heat and occasional critters. Therefore, I put the “delivery person snacks” in a cooler with the note taped on top. It has been very much appreciated. Our USPS driver even asked me the other day- from a distance of course- if we needed money for the snack:) To me that would defeat the purpose of me providing the snacks. I have also had drivers leave small thank you notes. I have noticed the single packs of Oreos have been the most popular snack.
I have done the same here in NH, to keep things from freezing and melting. I have a small cooler on our porch, plus I take it in each night.
My husband is a UPS driver and like the person said above, they aren’t allowed to deviate from their trip much (and don’t have time if they want to make pick ups on time) so a snack or drink is an awesome pick me up. He loves these around Christmas time when they mostly show up but in the summer when they’re so hot (no air conditioning in their trucks), when someone gives him a Gatorade or popsicle, it makes a huge difference. Thanks to everyone who puts out snacks/ tips them at Christmas time.
I’ve had my stuff out for almost a year now – I print out a new sign for each season/holiday. We have almost everything delivered since we have been in quarantine. I’ve had a few people thank me and it has really made my day! I had someone that worked for Instacart text me and thank me profusely. It was a retiree that started working Instacart to make some extra $. She ended up working a longer than expected shift and was really hungry and thirsty. She was SO sweet! So happy to do something for the folks that have worked so hard to keep all of us going! FYI – I did have to find a locking plastic container to keep the snacks in because we have ninja squirrels that will cart them off if not. LOL
We have a racoon that took the whole thing… snacks, basket and all!
