What is the “SS” and the “PG”? I’m new to this… thanks!
Hi Abby – “SS” = Smart Source and “PG” Proctor and Gamble. They are both Sunday paper inserts. They aren’t guaranteed in EVERY Sunday paper. SS are usually each Sunday but PG is not. “RP” will be short for Red Plum and that is also usually in weekly papers.
As I am guilty for doing this myself…..don’t forget this website offers lots of great advice and guidance on other pages (look at the top tabs for direction) so if you have a question try searching there or do a simple google search! 🙂
I’m kind of new to the whole couponing world also. I see all sorts of “SS” and “PG” icons. So you pretty much can’t get a discount without purchasing the Sunday paper? (Other than the coupons that Collin posts directly onto her website) Thanks btw, this really helps!

yeah i was trying to do a price match at my Walmart Supercenter 2134 the CSM wouldn’t allow the cashier to price match walgreens n i wanted to get it for free since i am using the $3 off coupon and get some overages to my crisco oil that too i had another store to price match with for $1.99. i’m going to go to another wm later this week to get overages on the nivea and possible through my other grocery purchase.
oh yeah my walmart sells it for $4.97 they weren’t on rollback for $2.97 kinda weird:(

Went to target today to score some oatmeal..($2.50/box). I used 2 of my $2/1 quaker coupons and found that most of the boxes had instant $1 stickers on them. I made $2…check this one out!!
BE CAREFUL!!! Most peelie coupons (found on package) are manufacturer’s coupons. The printable coupon is also a manufacturer’s coupon. You may not use both on one product. You can only use one manufacturer’s coupon per item. Ever. No matter where it comes from, internet, newspaper, blinkie, peelie…
It’s the Basic rule of couponing. . . and also . . considered fraudulent usage of coupons to do so.

Just a heads up on the Gain product. I went to my local walmart tonight and these were in the travel section, and here in VT priced at $1.97 I still got it becaue I LOOVE the smell of gain and figured with the coupon paying just .97 wansnt too bad to help rid my car of doggie smell 🙂
Mine too! I was bummed thinkin I was going to get some freebies. But at my store it was clearanced to $1.97. The ‘before’ price was $2.49! arg.

Find a cashier who can handle coupon well!! You can sneak out other customer who has coupon and watch how the cashier does. Every time I use coupons at my local Walmart, I have to line up at “my cashier”. Those people knows I would use coupons. Sometimes I have to wait a bit for them but it’s worth how much I can save. 🙂

Yep, find a cashier who is smiling! 🙂 Also I avoid young girls & old women who looks tired. Guy cashiers are normally awesome about coupons in my opinion. Even the coupons beeps, they make sure if I buy eligible items and push them through even they have overage. I have few favorite cashiers who are always doing great with coupons, so I find their lines. And if the cashier refused to use them, not argue and try other cashier or go in another day to try. 🙂
If I am buying other things then the coupon usually doesn’t beep, and i get a few cents overage.
Bummer, no Schick or Nivea in my SS. 🙁 And I cannot get the link to work for the oatmeal. I think that’s a sign I should just go to bed! 😛
At least I’m not the only one! I didnt get the Nieva coupons but did get the febreze in last weeks. Coupons are deff. different depending on where you live. In vermont I sometimes get peoples left over NYtimes at my job and they always have different coupons.
I think the $2 Schick is actually a BIC disposable coupon…unless i ddnt get it….
o and the nivea is in the RED PLUM not SS 🙂

You could use the $1.00/1 on any one Febreze Fabric Refresher coupon (exp 4/30/11) from the Homemade Simple coupon booklet Organize in Style or the $1.00/1 on any one Febreze Fabric Refresher coupon from the P&G brandsaver (exp 10/31/10).

I didn’t get the schick, but did get some BIC coupons, so I got them for $1.23 with a $2.00 coupon. Also, the febreeze wasn’t on sale, but still got it for $.97 and I got the nivea mens body wash for $.97, so I didn’t do too bad. Did get the pert plus shampoo for free though 🙂 I also got some gain dish washing detergent for free. All in all a good trip!
I was able to get a 10pack of BIC razors for $0.94 at Walmart, used the $2.00/1 coupon I had. 🙂

Live in a small town in Kentucky, and these prices are never the same here. The Nivea is $3.97 here . All Wal Marts are not the same in the way they price. It depends on the number of stores in your area and we have very few. We do have a Rite Aid and are getting a Wal Greens soon but as far as groceries. We have Houchens and Save A Lot and they are reall high. Our Wal Mart is always higher than others for this reason.
I live in a small town in Eastern KY too. I would think the cost of living would be lower here (I just moved from Illinois) but I am surprised to see that everything is more expensive than I am used too. They also never have the rollbacks at our Wal-Mart that are posted for other Wal-Marts…. very frustrating.
Have you signed up for the Save-a-Lot e-mails and coupons? They do a lot on their store brands and accept manufacturer’s coupons on their national brands. It helps out a lot. I usually get a $5 off $25 purchase once a month too. 🙂
The Save A Lot here is really high. My son worked there from age 16 to 20 and quit last year. I have not been back in the store , just makes me to sad. In our area, they price things at what ever they want. The same chain 30 miles away is always cheaper, the ads are even different. It is because we have so few stores here. Wal Mart does price match and that really helps. Our Dollar Store is also higher than others. Did anyone try to use the 5 off of 25 at this store. If you use this coupon you can not use any other coupons. Tried it a 2 of our Dollar Stores. We are a small town and have 3 Dollar Stores, go figure. Don’t know why they do not want you to use coupons, but they don’t. If you have a coupon for a free product they will not allow you to use it.

I was in my Connecticut Target store and got the Quaker oatmeal value pack for 2.50. That’s 18 packets for .50. Take a look at your Taget and see if you can find any. I was thrilled!

OFF topic…check the clearance toys for Tag Books. There is a $5.00 off online when you view a virtual Chevy and my Walmart had a bunch of books marked down to $9.00. I bought the Cat in the Hat and Scooby Doo for a total of $8.00! Yeeeaaaah

I used to shop Walmart since the prices were almost always lower on just about everything, but to a few readers point about not having roll backs, I’m finding the same thing. Target has actually been cheaper on quite a few items lately. I found the 13 oz Simply Orange products at Walmart for $1.27 and used a few of my $1 off coupons there first, then hit Target afterwards and found theirs for $1.02 in WI. I had 2 q’s left, but was kind of irked since it’s usually the other way around on prices. Think I’ll be shopping Target first more often now,

I found another $1 off Febreeze Fabric Refresher (no size limit) in the 9/26 PG, and I found the $2 off Schick disposables in the 9/12 SS.

The best way to handle that issue is to call Wal-mart’s corporate #. 1-800-WAL-MART. Tell them your issue and ask them for a referral #. The next time you visit your Wal-mart ask for the store manager and call corporate and and let them talk to them regarding your referral #. What is the worst that can happen? They say no AGAIN and you never go back! HA HA! Check out Collin’s poll on the worst place to coupon. Can you guess where it wins by a landslide?
if Walmart had a car for free, I would not go there to get it. I had such a headache using a tic tac coupon that i spent more on stress taking the years off my life than i did on savings! I worked at walmart as a young woman for 7 years, and i’m sad to see it go so far downhill. The prices are high, the staff is uneducated, and they are the most unfriendly coupon place that I have tried.
On another note, I love Target…however they really need to fix their “glitches” . I tried using the men’s Nivea 3.00 coupons on body wash….they took off 1.85….cashier/superviser couldn’t fix it. Superviser gave coupons back and sent me on my merry (not so merry) way. In same transaction I was doing Curel lotion deal, though my coupons scanned correctly, I tried to use 5.00 gift card she handed me the next night, and they told me it was empty and had never been sold. BLAH!!!

I went to a male clerk and he adjusted the coupon for me, the women tend to be grumpy about getting stuff free.
I used a $2 off any Bic disposable razor at my Wal-Mart and purchased a $.97 bag with two razors in it in the travel section so I made $1. I went in to get the Schick razors but realized I had clipped the wrong coupon. It ended up working out better for me though!!
Very disappointing story about walmart.. I went in there last Friday to get the free gain dish soap and shick razors. The girl in front of me was ablso to get the gain soap but when she got to me she said that she couldn’t take the coupon because the price of the item was less than the coupon…ugh. She called the night manager over and even she said that they couldn’t accept it! The WalMart coupon policy doesn’t have anything about that so is there anywhere I can go to show them that they CAN adjust the coupon down? (or overage would be nice too 🙂
I just got back from WM and got CoffeeMate Peppermint Mocha for free. I used the $1.50 coupon and right now they have their holiday flavors (pumpkin, eggnog, sugar cookie) for $1.50
So sad these weren’t the prices at my walmart 🙁
