Anyone know the size? This is also unadvertised??

    • Kim

My DG will usually have the small size on sale for $2…but you can also pair with the BuyOne Bodywash and Get Lotion FREE!! I scored 5 of these last Monday (without sale $1 for both) You may also check the clearance item aisle as they had Febreeze candles for $2.50 and I used $2/1 making them $.50 each!!

      • Dmkapotsy

I did this last time with the buy one body wash and get one lotion free and I had never used the lotion before and I LOVE it. I am going to take advantage of this deal again. Thanks for posting!

    • Angela

It is the 8.4 oz. bottle. I got several of these last month with the Olay/ Secret coupon.

    • Karen

The body wash is the 8.4 oz and if you use the BOGO coupon for the lotion the lotion bottle is 11.8 oz. OH yea and don’t forget about the $20 rebate from Olay when you purchase $50 in product.

    • Heather

Thanks for the info! I have printed them and will check out our local store!

  2. Erin

Great deal! Has anyone tried it using multiple of the same coupon in the same transaction? Last time I went to DG their computers went crazy and wouldn’t let me use more than one of the same coupon even though I had enough items to cover. Just wanted to know before I get to checkout ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Kay S.

I have also tried that and had problems with the register accepting more than one coupon. We just rang it through in different transactions and it worked.

    • mythreesons1967

I found this deal last night and emailed it to collin and used 4 coupons in the same transaction and my dollar store had no problems with it. I also used the buy one get one free on the old spice body spray. I never have a problem with our dollar stores.

    • Brianne

If you have more than one of the same coupon then have them scan however many items that you need for one of the coupons and then scan the coupon, then more items and another coupon, etc… (example: $2 off 2 coupon, scan 2 items and then the coupon, then another 2 of those items and the next coupon…they cannot scan all of the items at once or do do them as a qty or the system will not allow the coupons.) that is the only way that their registers will accept more than one of the same coupon

Hope this helps some of you.

    • Sarah

I use to find GREAT deals at the dollar general, but I have always had trouble using more than one coupon.

    • Karen

I used both the BOGO coupon and the $2/ 1 coupon for my purchases last night at the end of my transaction and had no problems

  3. lilbrett

oh this is great!!! hopefuly my dollar general will have some available, i have several coupons to use for this!

  4. Catherine

With the $5 off $25 would the Olay bodywash count as $3 (before in store sale price) or the $2?

    • Shannon

THey have to ring in the DG $5/$25 coupon first and THEN do your manufacturers coupons.

  5. Tonya

DG also has Old Spice deodorants and body wash on price reduction. I went last night bought 2 deos and 1 body wash. I was able to use $1 off 2 deos and buy one deodorant and get body wash free. Deodorant was $3 and body wash $3.50. Total before coupons $9.50 and after coupons $5.00. I did not wait for the $5 off $25 since the coupons I was using expire on 12/31/

  6. Robin

I think the secret to Dollar General registers is to give a coupon after each scan of the product. So if you buying 5, let them scan one, then give them a coupon and then repeat. HTH!!

    • Keren

Thanx Robin for the tip, I used to have to do multilple transactions.Kudos to you!!

  7. Robin

Does anyone how long the Price Break is for? I just ordered more coupons….

    • Martha

Where do you order coupons from?

  8. Melanie

My DG is terrible about taking coupons. I tried to get the Febreeze candles yest. and they said it didn’t look like the pic on the coupon. They have also said that about the Olay coupons – they want the product to exactly match the pic on the coupon. They don’t care about the words ANY.

    • Lorna

Here’s a link to their coupon policy https://www.dollargeneral.com/OurStores/Pages/CouponPolicy.aspx
Condition #4 states: “Coupons may be used only on products sold at Dollar General, and must match exactly to the item as it is packaged and sold at Dollar General.” That’s confusing, and I can see why the cashiers might look at the picture, and then reject the coupon.
I may be going there on Saturday, and will let you know the outcome.

  9. Nona

i have never shopped at any dollar store before…
someone told me that the products inside the bottles and boxes arnt really what they say they are.
I dont know if that is true…but I dont want to take any chances!

    • tina

That’s what I think too… I used to shop there years and years ago, had to stop because it wasn’t worth it. The quality is not the same.

    • Amanda

I wouldn’t be surprised if the items were from less than perfect batches, so the lower quality items are sold at dollar stores instead of disposed of.

  10. Faye

Can these go toward the $20 wyb $50 P&G rebate?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)
    • Amanda S

I was wondering that! If so I think I might run and grab a few in the morning since I some how lost some reciepts and only have $43 so If I do this I will have some free olay and also beable to get my $20. I hope and I really dont see why it wouldnt since the rebate states any Olay.

    • Karen

They should as long as your receipts are not dated past 12-31-10

  11. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Yes Faye they can! Only two more days to shop for that rebate. Perfect item to use toward your $50 (which is counted before coupons)P

  12. Carla M

Oh man – I wish we had a dollar general any where near us. I cant’ seem to find one on the whole west coast.

  13. Wendy

The DG stores in my area won’t take a coupon for more than 50% of the item’s cost. The last time I tried the cashier looked at the coupon & then looked at the price and told me she couldn’t take it because it was more than 50% of the price. She wouldn’t try to scan it, just said their registers are programmed not to allow it. Funny thing is, they used to take them. This new “policy” started way back when there were $4 Nivea Body Wash coupons out and they had Nivea Body Wash for less than $4. The first time I ran into this the cashier told me it was a new corporate policy, but it was because someone from another store had accepted one of the $4 Nivea coupons and the store lost money. I emailed corporate when it happened, but never received a reply. I think it’s a shame that each store/division is allowed to set their own policy. It’s usually not worth my time to do much DG shopping, which is a shame because I live in a rural area and they are my closest store.

    • Sarah

I to sent corporate an email about a problem with my dollar general accepting coupons and never recieved a reply. I have read the coupon policy online once and there are many “rules”, but that at the time was not one of them.

  14. Amiah

Buy one bodywash $2 & one lotion $5.50, use $2/1 olay bodywash (12/26 p&g), use b1g1 olay lotion (11/30 p&g), all coupons scan without a problem! All free ๐Ÿ™‚ we did it this am at our local dg and they are usually have coupon issues but today it was smooth as butter. The free lotion coupon actually takes $5.50 off automatically without manually having to be keyed in. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Erin

Did you just buy the 2 items or multiples?

      • Amiah

        Erin,
I bought 4 of each. Just paid tax. And gave the cashier one of each ๐Ÿ™‚

  15. Alicia

I just went to the DG and had no problem at all. I used 4 of the $2 off 1 coupons from 12/26 P&G plus I had the another coupon for $2 off 1 that I paired with the Buy 1 Olay Body Wash, get 1 Olay lotion free coupon. Got everything free and only had to pay sales tax. The cashier was great and she said she didn’t realize they were marked down to $2 and she had a couple of those coupons herself she now planned to use with the sale.

    • Annalea

Thanks for sharing, Alicia! Glad it all worked out for you. ๐Ÿ™‚

  16. Nicole

I hate when store say they will lose money if they except coupons. The store gets paid the value of the coupon plus 8 cents for handling. Why wouldnt they take the coupons??? They need to educate themselves on their coupon policies and how coupons actually work.

  17. Keren

I must say my Dollar General experience hadnt always been great either, but I read this post before going today and I did like reader Robin said is to have them scan the coupon after each prodcut and ti worked perfect for me!! Thanx Colin for posting Thanx Robin for the tip!!

  18. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Mine does not carry the one in the picture and the ribbons kind is still $4.00. ๐Ÿ™

  19. Yvette

I got 3 today using the $2 coupon. They almost wouldn’t let me use all 3 coupons. Until I pulled out the coupon policy. Funny how they backed down.

  20. NightmareReader

I got 8 of them. Used all of my coupons in one transaction with no problems.

  21. Erin

Wow. What an ordeal. I attempted to get one body wash and a three-pack of Ivory soap with the $2 Olay coupon and the buy Olay body wash, get a free body wash, bar soap, or hand soap from Rouge. First, the guy examined the coupons endlessly. He said they had a lot of coupon problems. These were from coupon inserts from the manufacturer and I told him this. He said people are manufacturing their own to look like inserts (wow!). Then he took them to the manager and was gone several minutes as the formerly empty line grew and grew and grew. Then he came back and compared them to the list of “do not accept” list of coupons posted at the register and scanned them again. Only the $2 would come off, so he called the manager up, who examined them (as the line grew then diminished as people began to walk out). He thought they were fine and tried to rescan the one for the bar soap. Wouldn’t go through, so he left to consult with someone else. Came back, tried again, no dice. He said he couldn’t force it through or get around the system so I had him take it off. The woman behind me seemed a little impatient and I apologized to her. She was really nice about it, saying that neither of us would be there if we weren’t trying to save money.

Also, I wouldn’t count on the stores being stocked at this point. I live in what I believe is a relatively noncouponing area (I rarely have trouble getting deals), but one store was wiped out, the other had only a couple on the shelf, which really surprised me.

  22. preethi

The Olay gift sets I ordered from Walmart (and, got for free) had a $2.00 off any Olay body wash..etc. in them, too! So, if any of you got those you may want to check that out! ๐Ÿ™‚

  24. Rebecca

I am planning to go and try this and the Mueller’s. I went a few weeks ago for the Axe deal with their store coupon. My store had a lot of difficulty figuring out how to get it right.
Do you all have suggestions for what order to give coupons in?
Store coupon, then Manufacturer? or viceversa? I will definitely try handing the coupon (s) at the same time I hand the item next time.

  25. Zack

Man! I need one of those stores in my neighborhood! Women’s body wash is one of the tougher things to get for free!

  26. nikki

Thanks for sharing!! I am just starting off with the coupons, and luckily I have a friend that delivers the papers and had 2 extra papers from last week, so I was able to score 2 extra papers from last week. Well I got the coupon for the soap, I went to the dollar store and they didn’t have the this soap on the shelves, but after looking I found some stashed a buggy from where they were stocking, I asked the girl to price check it and she was giving me attitude but they rang up for $2.00, well long story short, I went to the check out and had the soap and 1 soda, the girl told me I was “cheating” with that coupon because it was free. Am I really cheating? My mom and I just looked at each other and giggled! Thanks for posting this.

Another question, off topic, on average what would YOU spend for 2 bottles of Pantene Pro-V and 2 bottles of Herbel essence and 2 bottles of Dawn dishwashing soap?? Does $7.00 (6.10 before taxes) seem high for that? Or could I have done better? I’m new, so any extra advice would be GREAT!

    • Lauren

$8 when you are first starting out is pretty good i would say i usually try to keep it at $1 or less for shampoo and cinditoner and the dish soap .50 or less but that is pretty good for a new couponer

      • nikki

Thanks Lauren for the tip!! I’ll keep that in mind, I did spend .44 on the dish soap =)

    • Sarah

I think you did pretty good. Especially for just starting out. I have read blogs that they say they don’t pay for shampoo or conditioner. Where I live I only have access to a Walgreen’s so I can’t get in on Rite Aid and CVS deals. Before I started couponing I would spend $2 each on shampoo and conditioner and it was the Sauve brand. So I feel if I can find a nice brand for a $1 I think that is a good deal. If you did buy Pantene and Herbal Essence all the time before you started couponing I would say you did GREAT.

      • nikki

Sarah, those are my main 2 brands of shampoo and conditioner so I was pretty happy with that seeing before I’d spend atleast 7 bucks on the pantene shampoo and conditioner. I have a feeling after reading everybody’s post and keeping up with Collins blog it will get easier!

    • Karen

Sounds pretty good for just starting. I also have only been doing this for 1 month. The more that I do it the better the deals get. Just last night I stumbled across a HUGE deal myself, (deal had not been posted anywhere) for Gillette Fusion Proglide razor Premium shave collection, Scored this one for Free + $4.02 money maker. It get easier as you go. Keep up the good work.

  27. Kolina

Thanks, I just picked it up a few minutes ago. It worked perfect!!!

  28. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

๐Ÿ™‚ got mine, body wash and lotion, no problems. Thanks!

  29. Trina Sanchez

The manager at my store didnt realize they were supposed to be marked down but when she scanned it was $2 and she had no problem accepting my coupon I just wish I would have had multiple coupons!

  30. jowor88

The dollar generals in my town are both awful about dealing with coupons!! I have tried on more than one occasion to use them (about 3), and every time I have been denied coupon usage at all! I keep telling myself I am not going to go back there, but this deal was too good not to give it another try.

The first time I tried using coupons was on Purina Beggin Strips. That week they were on sale BOGO free. I tried to buy 4 packs and use a coupon for $4/4. I think they were like 2.00/bag, so it would have been $8 – 4 = $1/bag. The coupon wouldn’t go through, and finally the cashier told me I couldn’t use a coupon on a BOGO free sale. It wasn’t allowed.

The second time I tried they had Oral B toothbrushes on sale for $1, and I had $1/1 coupons. Register would not take them, cashier would not take them.

And than I tried with this deal again tonight, and the cashier told me that I could not use both of the coupons, I had to either choose to use the $2 off olay or just buy the olay and use the free lotion coupon.

Each time I have told them I didn’t want the items, and I just left. I am done shopping at Dollar General for good this time, and am going to stick with Wags! ๐Ÿ˜‰ My stores should both just post a sign on their door that they do not accept coupons! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  31. Heather W

I am glad it is working for you guys! I was told by the district manager of our Dollar General that their new policy is you can’t use coupons that make the items free. I don’t shop at Dollar General very often since I don’t have that problem at any other store.

  32. Amie

I got mine yesterday! Paradise, PA. Thanks so much for the tip! Nothing gives me a rush like paying my entire bill with coupons! ๐Ÿ™‚

  33. Dmkapotsy

Just got back from DG and I got 3 body washes and a lotion for $2.69! Woot! Woo! I used 2 $2 off coupons and one buy one body wash and get one lotion free! I had no problems with beepage! ๐Ÿ™‚

  34. angela

Dont know when the sale stopped but tried to do this at my DG this morning…i paid $3 with NO coupon and heres why; used the 5/25 and then multiple mfr coupons, i always watch to make sure and the cashier did not scan 4 of my mfr coupons and swore up and down that she did when i confronted her about it, I had her call over the mgr who agreed with her that she did scan all of my coupons and said ma’m the total is 19.37 …..tried to argue (nicely) some more with the mgr and he said ma’ m the total is 19.37 at this point i was so embarassed and humiliated by the line of people behind me staring in frustration, that i just paid the total and left! when i went outside i ivestigated my reciept and $5 worth of mfr coupons- including the $2 off olay soap were not scanned and they kept them (and i’m sure will redeem!) i contacted DG to complian-haven’t got a respose yet, but have decided to stop shopping DG as this is not the first prob i’ve had redeming coupons there!
