I did this the last time and it worked fine!
I did the same thing this time.
Clicked on Jenny’s link and (since I get my meds there each month) I got a $150 card, which will get me $30 free. Then I went back and did another $150 which will get me another $30 free.
You don’t have to enter your cvs card number. You will get a confirmation email and then get an email with a link to print out your gift “card.” It will print out a bar code to be scanned at cvs when you make a purchase. You will also get another email with your “reward,” depending on the amount your purchase was. My $150 got me a $30 reward.
    Hope that helps.
Oh…you can send it to someone and put a message and also upload a picture (from your computer). Would make a cute and simple Mothers Day gift. Am guessing it would send you the “reward.” Nice!!
    Thanks Collin 🙂

Replying (adding on) to my own comment LOL:
Forgot to add that you can use the “card” (paper) to purchase anything at the store (not sure about purchasing online) and it magically keeps track and deducts the amount spent.
I usually would write on the the side of the paper how much is left. If I remember correctly, it will tell you that amount on your receipt with your purchase.

Unfortunately , not everything… I tried to get a 15.00 gift card today with mine and it and won’t go through.. gift cards are excluded ..

  2. Robyn

I’m confused, how do you use an e-gift card in store? Or is this just a gift card that you purchase online then is shipped to your house? …thanks.

    • Christina

The e-gift card is sent to your email address. Click the link in the email to get your e-card. You print it out to take to the store with you.

      • Robyn

so you can only use it on one purchase? I mean, I try to spend just tax whenever I go to CVS… which means I would never pay $25 there…..can you break it up?

        • Emily

Yes, it really does work just like a gift card: just paper instead of plastic. It has a barcode that scans.

  3. Jenny

Yea, I think you can only use it online. Which means a LOT of out of pocket money on purchases. Not a good deal unless you could use it in the store.

    • LD

When I have purchased these in the past , I have always used mine in store . And from the faqs you can use them in store this time also .

    • fran

These e-Gift Cards are redeemable for merchandise at any CVS/pharmacy location and/or online at CVS.com

I did this last time and love it 🙂 It print out just like a coupon and you take it with you to the store 🙂
just do not loose it 😉

FAQs state you can use them at any CVS Location

Where can I use my eGift Card?

    Hide Answer

You can use your eGift Card at any CVS/pharmacy location.

  6. Emily

How long does it take to get it? I just bought one right now for myself and all I got so far is a order confirmation receipt. I asked for it to deliver today.

    • Emily

Replying to my own question – it took about half an hour to get the e-gift card and the reward card.

  7. Nicole

Just to let people know, I’ve done this twice and have mixed reviews. The first time it worked great, but the second time cashiers had issues scanning the gift card and it was a HUGE headache to finally redeem it. I’m not usually spending $25 OOP on a trip to CVS (like a lot of Hip2Savers I’d guess), and it was somewhat annoying to have issues each time I tried to use it to cover my small OOP totals.

In the end it did work, but I’m not sure if I’d purchase them again.

    • kidsallgone

Tell them to “read the directions on how to enter it on their
cash register which is printed CLEARLY on the paper.”
I wrote it like that because I had to say it to the cashier each time I checked out. LOL!
I think it said to enter it like a gift card. They got the hang of it after the first time.

      • Julia

Telling them what to do does not help. I had the worst nightmare experiences with that e-giftcard. Never ever ever again! They thought it was a coupon for a free $ giftcard, it wouldn’t scan, they didn’t understand how to use it. It was horrible. So not worth the “free” $30 I got for purchasing the $150 card and I shopped at many different stores with it or sometimes at least tried because they wouldn’t even accept it. I can only warn everybody not to buy this!!!!

    • Diane

I’ve done this twice before, and it is a great deal. Some of the cashiers need to be reminded that it is a gift card, but as long as they enter it correctly it works fine!

  8. ariana

I bought one last time, $10 egift card for $5, it never scanned right but the cashier entered in w/o problems. BIG TIP: TELL THEM IT’S A MONEY CARD not a coupon or anything else.

  9. aesha

if i buy $150 ecard do i have to use it all in one day?

    • Emily

No, it works just like a gift card.

      • aesha

        thnk you 🙂

  10. Lovin Savin

I bought this before and loved it! I do think the cashier is confused at first that it is a coupon. It seems once they understood it was an ecard I had no problems using it.

  11. kittykat098@yahoo.com

So if I bought a $25 card. SInce its not technically a gift card, its more so like a certificate, would you have to spend the $25 all at once? Or could you spend only some of it one day, and if so, how do you redeem your remaining balance?

    • Donna

It is just like a gift card, so you dont’ have to use the whole $25 all at once. Be sure to write the amount of the new balance on the paper so you can keep track of it. I got $70 before (2 $25 & the 2 Free $5) and used that over a 5 month span. It’s a great thing to have. Only thing is you cannot use it to purchase other gift cards.

      • kittykat098@yahoo.com

can it be used with cvs $4 off $20 coupons?

        • fairydust

Yes, it’s just like using cash or a credit card – you can use any coupons you want, including a $4/$20 coupon from the store, then pay the after-coupon OOP amount with this e-gift card.

  12. Jo-Ann

I’ve done this deal in the past and love it! I just ordered more. It’s an “e-Gift Card” meaning it is used exactly like a plastic gift card, usable in store–your remaining balance prints on your receipt (which means you don’t have to use it all at once). What seems to confuse some readers and some cashiers is that it’s in paper form, rather than plastic (that’s why it’s called an “e” Gift Card, meaning electronic, printable from your computer). For cashiers there are easy, clear directions printed at the bottom for them and they’re usually quick to learn, because they already know how to process gift cards. 🙂

  13. Laura

Cool Deal! I got one for $150, tend to always get Medicine there and with the Flex Spending deal changing this will help extra $30 on top of coupons if I have any – good deal!

  14. Clara

Could you use this egift card to buy a regular CVS plastic GC? That might make things easier.

    • melissinglink

great idea. I think I’ll start reading the fine print to see if I can do this.

    • Donna

No you can’t purchase other gift cards with it.

  15. Maria S.

I didn’t see anything in the link above that looked like it was an affiliate one so I thought I would post that upromise.com has 3% back for CVS. I searched for gift cards, went through purchase by email, then it brought up the same exact link as the one here which led me to believe the one here wasn’t connected to an affiliate. Only thing is, I don’t know if the 3% cash back will credit since a new window opens up from CVS to purchase the gift card.
I apologize if your link is an affiliate one.
Thank you for the post, I think I’m going to look for a personal picture for the gift card.
Great deal, bonus money is always nice

  16. Taraneh

So you can use this on medication? I didn’t see anything in the terms&conditions saying you couldn’t but I just want to be positive before I buy it since that’s what I’d be using this for.
Also, I didn’t see anything about an expiration date, does anybody know if it has one?
    thanks!

  17. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh wow! Glad I got in before it expired! I was contemplating on this, but I did end up buying 2 $25, one for myself and one for my sister’s bday. Got an email within minutes of confirmation of the order. So I got $10 reward to spend also 😉 Sweet!!!! Thanks for all you do Collin!
