Can any moms help me? I have a 6 month old in 9 months. What age did you stop with the bodysuits? Will I use the 18 or 24 months if I buy them? Thanks!

    • Kim

Depends. My son was in them til 24 months. But my daughter stopped at 9m. Once she started walking she started wearing dresses mostly. She occasionally wears one with a skirt but t-shirts are our go to for skirts. (They don’t make super cute onesies like ts)

    • Elena

I did but only in the winter for layering. I would put them under pj’s or under shirts during the day. I didn’t like for bellies or backs to be exposed while they played outside. I could never get shirts to stay tucked in so I would use the bodysuit like an undershirt.

    • Vivian

I don’t recall using them past the 1 year mark. I had a boy who didn’t want to be on the changing pad with kicking legs, so dealing with snaps would be difficult, it was easier to slide on shorts or pants and just have him in a tee.

    • Jessica

My daughter is in 12 month clothes and in these I got 18 months.

    • Lisa

I love these comments where we can ask questions and get great answers! I used the onesies as long as I could to hold the diaper in place to keep from sagging, so 2-2 1/2 when he started potty training.

    • cwalker

I used them until we started potty training. At that point, it was too hard to get them unbuttoned quickly 🙂

    • Tess

12 months. I’ve been an nanny for many years to many babies, and it’s just a pain after the 12 month mark.

    • Kelly

Thanks so much for asking this and for all the answers! I was just asking my friend last night whom I’m buying them for!

    • Ann Dee

I love all the answers, too. Fun to hear what everyone does and why. 🙂

    • Lisa

I have 6 boys, and have kept them all in onesies until they stop making them… So about 24 months. I’m now expecting a girl, so I guess that could change!

    • Mia

My son stopped wearing em at 18 mths he was wearing the size 24 mths.

I occasionally still use them with my 25 month old to layer. But after a year, I only needed 1 pack of whatever is weather appropriate (long/short sleeve). I liked them for park dates from 12months to 24 months so her shirt wouldn’t ride up and show her belly. Now we’re making the switch to undershirts.

    • Vicky

I used them until my kids grew out of it, which happened around 18 months. I started to potty train them around 12 months old and even haven onesies one, it worked. I just buttoned them one the side while they did their business. It does depend on the weather. (Like one reader mentioned) I did not like it when their backs were exposed.

I stopped a little after 12 months. I would later then under in the winter, then around 14 months, shirts were just so much easier!! Hth.

  3. Jamie

I think it’s preference. Also it depends on whether your child is potty trained or not. You don’t want them in body suits when they are using the potty by themselves.

  4. dee

Oh you’ll use them all right. I always found body suits under pants, shorts or skirts to be best. Two piece outfits were a pain…especially with wiggle worm babies, everything rides up!
