I usually don’t highlight too many clearance deals, but I’ve gotten a few emails from readers regarding an awesome clearance find at CVS, so I thought I’d go ahead and let you all know. Supposedly CVS has the 5 lb bags of Pillsbury flour discounted 75%! The bags are on clearance for ONLY $0.85!

As with all clearance, you may not be able to find this at your store, but if you do, come back and let us know in the comment section! Also, remember to price check the flour if it’s not marked. It could ring up for less!

This has nothing to do w/ the flour, but last night at my CVS I got some Gillette hair gel for my husband for .60 each! 🙂

    • Melissa

I must not be awake yet, because I read that as Glitter hair gel for my husband!!! I was thinking…”well that’s a good deal, but I don’t think my husband would appreciate it too much!”

  2. Heather Smith

Again, nothing to do with flour… check the Campbells chunky soup. I got Chicken & dumplings for .80 a can and used the $1.50/3 coupon!

    • Linda Anglin

      me too! great deal.

  3. Lisa

they had a entire end cap discounted 90% off at my store, green works products,.43 cents a bottle, lysol toilet bowl cleaner .33 cents a bottle. I purchased a $40.00 box crest white strips for 4 bucks. lots more.

Just thought I would share a Target fine. They had 6 packs of GE Reveal lightbulbs clearanced from $9.98 down to $4.99. These included 4 “regular” reveal lightbulbs and 2 of the “newer” energy savings ones. I paired with the $1.50 off coupons from coupons.com and scored a pretty sweet deal.

Word of warning-check the expiration dates on food items in particular. I’ve found things about or already expired in both WGS and CVS. Flour can contain tiny bugs if stored improperly or in some cases a bag has entry points for them. It won’t be a deal if not in great condition.

Had this problem on True Delights silly me I did not check exp. Jan 10 tasted BLAA.Target let me exchange with not problem I offered them a bite but they declined.;)

      • moosetracks

I was thinking of stocking up on the flour but how do we no about the weavles before we buy? I store my flour in zip lock bags after i buy them.I’m in a cold climate does that make a difference?

        • fuzzymitten

I noticed the expired items a couple of times at two different CVS. The Simply Asia noodle bowls were from 11/2008 in one place. That is way too old.

    • Nicole

I would check for Weevils in the parking lot…lol. Then if you find some take it into the store for the MGR to see.. LOL. I’m sure they will refund your money or give you a comparable product. BTW weevils only get into bags if there is an opening or the bag is exposed to large amounts of bacteria.

Most warehouses and Stores have rodent/pest control for things of that nature (their inspections are VERY strict) and is exactly why it is always so cold in stores when you go in. They are trying to control humidity and bacteria growth. Just in case you didn’t know.

I was just gonna say that the flour may have weavles in it. It’s a great deal if it doesn’t!!

    Random CVS-related Question:

I scanned my ECcard at CVS last night when I ran out to buy the huge refill pack of Huggies wipes (it didn’t produce a $2/1 Q tho….oh well, still a great deal on the wipes!)… the machine DID spit out a $4off$20 CVS Q….. HOWEVER, the wording on mine says “$4 off CVS Brand Purchase of $20 or More”— does this mean the $20 has to be CVS BRAND products?!?!

(I was hoping to buy 10 boxes of GM cereal for a total of $20, then use the $4off$20 CVS Q, then use 10 $1/1 manu Q’s and score 10 boxes of ceral for 6 bucks!

    Please Advise!!!! 🙂

    • Cath

Yup – the CVS Brand coupons have to be used on CVS store brand items. Hope you find a great deal anyway!

  8. Lisa

Found a whole end cap full of .85 flour at the CVS in Temecula……..yay!! Thanks for the info 🙂

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

HEY! I LIVE IN OCEANSIDE! We’re like neighbors! haha

I have a question, can you use a coupon on clearance items? I was able to do this one day at CVS and then went back the next day to get more and the cashier wouldn’t let me. The clearance had the barcodes marked out and they had to type in the price. She said for that reason, they couldn’t scan coupons?? Seems ridiculous to me… not my fault you mark out barcodes instead of just adjusting the price in the system! I just want to be prepared this time. Thanks.

    • Melanie

Yes, you can use coupons. I emailed customer service because there is one CVS that always puts up signs on their clearance stuff that says no coupons allowed. They emailed me back and said that you can use coupons and they just have to adjust the price so you don’t get overage. I printed it out and carry it with me.

I am home sick so I am going to send my husband to CVS to check this out. I love this Blog.

Unfortunately, flour has larvae in it – the bugs don’t get there from crawling into the bag. This is true for cereal too. I know – yuck. Whenever you buy flour that you don’t use up quickly – store it in the freezer for several days. Then you can take it out, or leave it there. Freezing the bag will kill any “potential bugs” in these products!

I’ve called 5 Cvs stores in Shrewsbury, Worcester and Northborough in MA about the 5lb. Pillsbury flour, the store associates told me that they don’t have and have no idea where can I get it.

  13. Amy

Our CVS stores here in Clovis, CA are running a clearance on many grocery items. The Pillsbury flour is just one of the 75% off items. Ours also was clearing out Libby canned veggies for .25 a can, large bottles of Heinz Vinegar for .55, Uncle Ben’s minute rice for .95, to name a few. The sales associate said they are getting rid of brands that they are not going to carry anymore. I wonder though since our CVSs are new, (just turning over from Longs drugs) if it is still part of them clearing out old stock?

  14. Ashley

All my CVS stores in Nor Cal are going through there food sections right now, preparing for new products. As a result, clearance!!!! I found Nesquick 75% off and got 2 containers for .40 each after the 1.25 Q. I also found Crisco Vegetable Oil for 1.25 each, and Kraft Dressing for only .60. There was some Wishbone dressing for .85 I think, but it had just expired! So check those dates!

Also—-remember the Wonka gummies? There was a coupon for $1/1 on coupons.com a long time ago, but expired around 4/1. They were .99 at one of my stores yesterday! AND the Reeses, Almond Joy PIECES bags are only 1.75 each now, only .75 with the $1/1 Q from a while back.

  15. Michelle

I went last night – didn’t see the flour – but I got some gel insoles for my hubby that were marked down 75%! Those stinking things can be $13! LOVE this blog – thanks for all the deals!

  16. Sommer

Went to my CVS today – they didnt have any good clearance =( The Huggies wipes (big bags) were regular price. I was going to stock up if they were $2.50. I did get some awesome deals though – 7 boxes of General Mills cereal, 2 bottles of Excedrin, and 20 cans of Bumble Bee tuna all for $10.74 =)

    • Kari

did you price check the bag? The huggies (big pack) werent an advertised deal 😉

      • Sommer

Yes, we price checked them all. I think they were starting to wonder about us – LOL.

  17. JoAnn

My CVS store in Las Vegas had the 5 lb bags for $.62 a bag! I did check the expiration dates–some said end of April, some the end of October. So I just got the Oct exp dated bags. Also, one of the workers told me that she had just put up a bunch of 75% and 50% off tags in the grocery section. I found all kinds of little goodies for cheap!

  18. veronica

I work for CVS and yes my store has the flour on clearance with alot of other foods.we(all cvs) are doing a new planogram that is due to be done by march 5th i think so expect to see LOTS of clearance foods on those clearance endcaps 🙂

Last week as I was checking out at my CVS, I noticed these right at the checkstand. I don’t use much white flour, but thought I would pick up a few bags for others. As I was turning my cart around, a woman and man were loading every bag (about 12) onto the checkstand. ARRRRRRGGGHHHH She was really, really happy though, so I was too.

  20. Kissybratzmom

I was at CVS last night getting some of the $2.50 Huggie wipes when I noticed their No. 7 brand makeup was 90% off. I snagged some nail polish, lip gloss, clay facial mask, face cream, and foundation all for $5.35!!!! The cream was almost $20 normally and the foundation was normally $16, I think.

Went to CVS last evening to buy my daughter an ACE bandage for her ankle. Took my coupons with me thank goodness. I left with the ACE bandage ($10), 2 SImply Asia bowls, 2 Pantene shampoos, 2 packs sugar-free Life Savers, 2 Blade shaving creams, 4 small packs of Almonds, and 1 softsoap. Price I paid, FREE! I used coupons, CVS coupons, Free Bucks, and my $25 Gift Card for having a perscription filled. I still have $15 on the gift card.

  22. marisa

No flour or good discounts at my CVS 🙁

  23. fuzzymitten

I just bought the flour today for 62 cents. It doesn’t expire until 2011, but I will still store it in the freezer for a few days. Thanks for the deals, Collin.

  24. Sara

Just picked up a couple bags of flour PLUS there was brown sugar on clearance for $.88 too. Sweet.
