Very nice ! thumbs up 🙂

  2. misti

    wow at walmart?! surprising!

    • Diane

I wish our Walmart did that. Maybe I can suggest it to them.

    • gwilker235

I had to take a second look and make sure what I was seeing was for real

  3. Bonnie A.

That’s like a halloween candy bowl for all us couponers! 🙂

    • Tawnya

      for sure!

  4. Valerie Hurwitz

My Walmart will not take any coupons that are higher than $2.00. Well, they will take them but only take a maximum of $2.00 off. I had several chashiers tell me this

    • Natasha

not cool for the Zarbee’s coupon or many of the ‘free’ coupons

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      What!!!!!!! That is so wrong

      • Tera30

My walmart will only take one coupon..(any kind) per person per day..WTF!!!!! Excuse the language but seriously!!! So needless to say I never go to walmart anymore!!! And they are even rude about the one coupon you do use that day!!! *sigh*

        • Jill

          That’s bull crap.

        • Amanda Spurgeon

says on the coupon policy that you can use up to 40 coupons at a time after that they will have to ok’ed by the manager.

        • sarah

wow, I have never had a walmart cashier tell me this. They aren’t usually happy about my coupons, but they do accept them without too many conditions. (although I had a cashier tell me one time that she couldn’t accept coupons with the same barcode, because that meant they were copies. You will notice that multiple coupons for the same things ALL have the same barcode… for example, all $0.50/1 crest coupons will have the same barcode, whether you have 1 or 100).

I would call corporate over this comment!

          • Spring Esteppe

I had a Walmart cashier tell me that Walmart doesn’t except printable coupons that are not printed with colored ink!!! Hahaha. I pulled my Walmart coupon policy out of my binder and politely dialed Walmart Corporate. After a few minutes of chatting with corporate and local management, they accepted my q’s. Beautiful. Sad. 😉

          • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

what unless u use colored ink good god that’s crazy I print everything in black and white because the color is more expensive to use

          • Happy Scrap Girl

Spring Esteppe – do you have a link to this coupon policy? I had a horrible time at my local Walmart with coupons and she refused to call a manager over! She asked the cashier next to her because “she’s worked here even long than I have, so she would know”. I swore off Walmart after that, lol. BUT if I can call corporate right then and there….

        • RIE

It was like that at my store so I was avoid to shop for couple of month.
but yeasterday they took 3 of same kind coupon. what a change!!!

by the way, love the pic though.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I’m glad my wal-mart doesn’t do that. That’s totally bogus if they take a $3 coupon and only take off $2 since the manf is going to reimburse them the $3

      • Spring Esteppe

Happy Scrap Girl… here’s the link for ya. https://walmartstores.com/7655.aspx I keep a copy with me at all times… as well as one for Target and CVS and Rite Aid. Hope this helps!

        • Lois

what does it mean “pharmacy coupons”?

        • Melissa S

          Spring,

Thanks for the walmart coupon policy link. BTW, what number did you call at Walmart? Was it the generic customer service number: 1-800-Walmart (1-800-925-6278)
          or something more direct?

          • Spring Esteppe

I always call 1-800-925-6278. They area very nice (because they want us to spend money in Walmart), and they always either solve my coupon problem or have a local manager call me back.

  5. Rhonda

    heheeeee!!!! Awesome!!

  6. Smitha

I love it. Wish every store does it 🙂

  7. Fluffy

Wonder if we can flash this picture at our local walmart and see if they would go for the idea. neat

  8. Amanda Spurgeon

love this now to get every walmart store and all the other stores to do this.

  9. Julie

Very Cool! My FredMeyers does this 🙂 I like!

    • Marcee

My Fred Meyer does this too… it’s awesome!

      • Stephanie Werner

My FM does this, too. But it seems like it would take too long to sift through for coupons you actually want. Have you guys done it before?

        • Annette

I usually take a look at my Fred Meyer’s coupon bin. It’s not usually too full and I’ve found a lot of great coupons in there. I’ve found many free coupons that print out of the catalinas- feminine products, kleenex, almond milk, etc. Yesterday I found a 1.00/1 any Dannon 32oz yogurt. The light & fit was on sale for 2.00 so I paid 1.00 for the 32 oz tub of yogurt. I’ve found Pampers Gifts to Grow points in there too (the catalina machine prints them sometimes). But if I’m in a hurry, I won’t sift through it.

  10. Brittany Lightfoot

My local CVS does this right below the magic coupon machine. Anyone else’s CVS do this??

    • Lindsay M.

I think those CVS coupons are tied to your CVS Extra Care Card though because the coupons have your name on them. Do they beep?

  11. steph317

my walmart just has those signs everywhere, no cool coupon basket!

  12. Spring Esteppe

My heart would cease to beat if I EVER saw this sign at our local Walmarts. I literally have to call corporate every other time that I go to Walmart. The cashiers still don’t understand coupons and how the whole thing works, so I have to include a few minutes of “education time” in my schedule when I head out. So sad. I LOVE the sign, just wish it were true across the board, ya know?

    • Toni S.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I’m glad all Walmarts aren’t like mine. I’ll have to take this picture with me and the next time I get the rude treatment, I’ll show them the picture and say I’m thankful not all Walmarts are like mine.

  13. Takako

I had really bad moment at my local Walmart on Sunday because I couldn’t find “my cashier” anywhere so I picked the young one, which is usually ok. WRONG! I showed IP coupons and she hated my guts! I even couldn’t use some of them which I used previous visit with “my cashier” many times! They are starting very picky for IP. They said “too much losing our money and too many fake coupons”… Huh?! One of shift manager wasn’t happy at all when I talked with him. I was very upset but tried stay calm and polite. I think I’ll just leave without shopping if I can’t find “my cashier” next time. Ugh!!
    BTW, the picture is great!

    • Karin

Oh no, so sorry to hear that. 🙁 I have two or three my favorite cashiers at Walmart, but before I found them, I had bad experiences with few cashiers who hate coupons! They said ‘There are so many fake coupons blah, blah, blah.’ or they misunderstood about ‘one per purchase.’ sentence. I was so frustrated, and weeped by anger inside the car so many times. I went to HyVee last night for doing a cereal deal, the old lady cashier was so unhappy to see my coupons. I was so upset, but tried to stay calm and polite like you too. Hope you can find your favorite cashier whenever you go there. ((HUGS))

    • steph317

ive had so many bad experiences with cashiers that i ask the good ones what time and days their shifts are and i only shop at walmart at those times!

  14. Chandra

My Fred Meyer has one of these, and last time I was there someone dumped a whole mess of printed coupons into it. It was like Christmas morning. 😀

  15. Mari

Man, my 2 local Walmarts are usually very good with coupons (Walgreens on the other hand..ehhhh.
) We don’t have a basket like that though, lol :).

  16. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

i don’t know if every walmart does this but i’m wondering if the anal-ness of the cashiers at some walmarts is having to do with the fact that they have to write down the reg # and their operator # on every single coupon that passes through their hands. Maybe they feel like they will get in trouble for something? who knows. all i know is that i am a very coupon friendly cashier. i get excited for my customers when they have good coupons. i will say too that i wish there was more consistency with the css/managers. everyone says there own thing. that is why i just follow the coupon policy. 🙂

    • Spring Esteppe

Oh man… if there was more consitency that would solve the WHOLE problem. Some CSM’s let things “through”, others are very rude. SOme have no clue that Walmart is getting reimbersed for the face value of the q PLUS the handling fee. It drives me nuts!!! No joke. If it scans and the item is in my cart, then LET ME USE IT!!!!

    • Jennifer B.

I have never had a cashier write anything down on any of the coupons I use there (unless it is a free coupon and they have to log the amount of the item).
I can see your point about the cashiers ‘anal-ness’ though if your store has the cashiers follow that process.

    • donna

I did have a Walmart cashier go over each and every one of my coupons with a fine tooth comb. She basically said that she could get fired for taking a coupon that was a copy, for the wrong product, expired, etc…She said “I’m not going to lose my job because you wanted to save some money”. I just smiled politely as she went through each one. I guess I don’t blame her, I wouldn’t want to lose a job over a coupon mistake either. Luckily mine were fine, but I have accidentally tried to use a coupon for the wrong item in the past. I have really learned to read each one so carefully now and make sure that I’m buying the right thing to avoid any embarrasing situations. That being said, Walmart is not my favorite store to use coupons at. I do like the picture with the coupon basket though. That’s awesome!!

      • Lois

It’s hilarious that the rules seem to be made up with each individual cashier no matter where your shopping. I have my favorite cashiers at walmart but I also have a manager there coming up while I check out and asking how much am I saving. I always comp when going to walmart and my regular cashiers just want me to tell them the comp price, if not they would miss their break checking each ad out! Does anyone do the Kohls coupons that you can buy on ebay? I would like to hear from you….thanks!

        • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Company makes how many billions a year, has questionable hiring practices, and they are gonna can a cashier for losing $2??? I know from personal experience how many of those coupons don’t ever make it back to the manufacturer.

        • Gina

I use the Kohls coupons quite often… they really help out with buying baby gifts, etc. I even used them last Christmas with the Hasbro and Fisher Price printables. They will take all manufacturer’s coupons and combine them with the $5 off. 🙂 Just have to switch cashiers if you want to use more than one coupon on a single trip to the store.

    • sarah

i suspect you’re right on this – i think the cashier’s personally get in trouble on coupons, probably whether the coupons are legit or not. the folks working at walmart do not look happy and i don’t think they’re treated well – just a hunch. i avoid the store – not a positive shopping experience, even if you don’t have coupons!

  17. Karin

    That’s so awesome! 🙂

  18. Jennifer Kirk

Love that! I wish Walmart would train their employees on their coupon policy. I won’t shop there anymore – they always give me a hard time when I’m using coupons. They have to inspect each one to make sure I’m not trying to get away with anything. Because, you know, since I’m using coupons that obviously means that I’m a thief! *eyeroll*

  19. wendy

my walmart fights me and won’t let me use it if it’s over the amount of the item.

  20. KathyB

I was just talking about this… back in the 80s when I was a kid I remember the local N Cali grocery stores having baskets at the entrances where everyone could leave their extra coupons for others. So cool to see it’s still done somewhere in this world….not here anymore.

  21. Lisa

    love it………

  22. Jennifer

It should say “We welcome all manufacturer’s coupons as long as they are not printed from your computer, not for free items, not for more than 99 cents off and not for more than 10 items”

    • Latasha

      Lol.

    • Angela W.

      NICE! LOL

  23. ~Melody

Saturday night a cashier would not let me use my coupons on any item that was less than the coupon. (i.e. the Gain dish soap). I explained that they are supposed to adjust coupon down to .97 and they get reimbursed. She went & talked to another cashier & came back & said “no, if register won’t take it, I can’t do it”. Ooookay (it was late, so I just didn’t want to mess with it) …. THEN I had 2 printed coupons for puppy chow. She told me “it looks like you copied this coupon”. I explained that wasn’t possible because the numbers are different & she challenged me and said “NO, they are the SAME” …. THEN she said “oh, they are different .. ” she scanned the coupons & I walked out.

    • ~Melody

… as I was walking out I saw someone that looked official and realized it was the asst.mgr. I asked HER what the store coupon policy was & she said I was correct (they should adjust the coupon down). I also explained about the cashier accusing me of copying the coupon. I was SO embarrased (there was a looooooong line behind me) because she walked away for 10 minutes to ask the other cashier about the Gain coupon. Oh I ♥ Walmart …. NOT! 😉

      • Jeremy

I had the same problem last week. Remember that Nivea BW wash deal at Wags last week? Well Wags was out :(, so I went to Walmart because theyre like the only company that price matches, and so I go to the 20 items or less line. (We dont have Self Check at my store), and right off the bat she says I cant use a coupon on a price match, So I called corporate, and the asst manager called me and said shed take care of me. So I arrived there again and ended up battling the CSM who told me Id be getting them free (DUH), so the asst FINALLY came, she was busy before, and told a csm that you can mark down a coupon. So they brung it down to 2.50.

Usually I dont have a hassle at Walmart, but now I see what everyone says, it is awful. And the trashiest people shop and work at that store. I had one lady pitch a fit because I have a little bit more than 20 items in the 20 items or less line because she had to bag everything :?. Even though I had green bags which hold more than plastic. I, too, am trying to be done with Walmart, I have Kroger, Aldi, Wags, CVS, Albertsons, and Tom Thumb and I will spend more money elsewhere if it means better service. The deals are better at other stores anyways.:)By the way Im a cashier and I do admit employees arent trained on coupons like they should be.

        Great pic though:)

        • Andrea

I had that happen at Wal-Mart too. I went in for a price match and then tried to use a coupon and they wouldn’t let me. I’ve had problems with the manager of this store before, when they tried to overcharge me for apples that weren’t ringing up at the right price, so I just let it go. Some things to me just aren’t worth the hassle. Wal-Mart has lost the bulk of my business, because they are not really very “coupon friendly”.

  24. Jodi Rangel

My Walmart has this same sign but everytime I go to use coupons it is a HUGE ordeal. I had to wait a few times for management to check and make sure my coupons were legit. I assured them they were but…they had to make sure. The sign just makes me laugh. I can go to Kroger and use my coupons no problem. I’m not too fond of Walmart.

  25. Xenia

I try to avoid Wmart. They dont have catalinas they dont have weekly ads (sometimes they do sometimes they dont), they dont have customer cards and they dont like couponers. But I did physically get $0.10 back once after getting several items for free: even though i did tell the cashier to adjust the price (I prefer fair use of coupons), but she wont listen and said she was doing whatever the register told her to. Well, whateh-vah. Needless to say, I didnt argue further – taking into account how much i l-o-v-e walmart.

    • Chandra

Someone just did this to me at Kmart a few weeks ago. I insisted to her that I think she’s supposed to adjust the coupon down, but she told me she has to give me the $0.03 or else she’ll get in trouble! I left it in the take-a-penny dish. Very strange.

  26. Laura B.

I have not been to Walmart since July and have no plans on going back anytime soon!

  27. Brooke

Almost every time i shop walmart I have over the 40 coupons so they have to have a manager ok them but I never have a problem with the cashiers they are always excited that I saved so much!!

  28. TCourtney

I HATE shopping at Walmart. I only go there about once every 2-3 months MAYBE. I did go last night to see what TAG books they had on clearance. I had the $4 off any TAG book over $9. Well I found TAG Jr. Cars for $8 and TAG Kung Fu Panda for $7. I decided to try the coupons anyway and the cashier took them fine. But I was fully expecting to have to leave empty handed. I don’t really think many of their deals are better than other stores and the lines always take 20+ minutes to get through, so I rarely mess with them.

  29. Lisa

I always have great experiences using coupons at Walmart. Honestly that is my favorite place to go with coupons, because they always work, every single one of them. If the coupon value is higher than the item price, the overage is just taken off my total, which I LOVE.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Yeah, my experiences have been good too, I have never had any big problems with them, in fact the other day a coupon was not ringing up for full value and the cashier manually subtracted the difference, and they always let me price match and coupon. I have never used one with overage, but I have lived/ stayed for several months at 5 different states in the last 3-4 years, going to Walmarts at each one, and they all accepted coupons just fine, and I was an avid couponer in probably 3-4 of those places (East coast, West, South). I will say their customer service can lack though… when looking for help in a department it can be hit or miss. I don’t think its nice to say mean things about the people who shop there, though.

  30. shannon

that is very cool but my walmart sucks for coupons. i rarely ever go there anymore. i tried to ask cvs one time if i could give them some of my coupons that were going to expire that day that would give people free tooth paste after ecb’s, and she said they werent allowed to do that, so i just sat them on top of the tooth paste.

  31. Lois

I just can’t handle incompetent cashiers….you all have to agree that these so called cashiers are undertrained and usually don’t give a flip about what they are there for. I had a Walgreen cashier scan a coupon and it beeped, handed it back and said it didn’t work, I kept teling here to redo….now I know just to call the manager. I refuse to check out with her and go to the beauty counter to check out. The beauty cashier is usually less busy therefore not as rushed with us coupon users.

    • L.H.

I always check out at the cosmetic counter. I love my cashier too. She told me that she welcomes my many transactions because it makes it look like she checked out more people. She also said that she recieves a comission type of deal for all of the body wash, lotion, deoderant, etc that I buy. So it’s a win win situation for everyone

  32. Beth

I only shop at Walmart if I can’t get what I need on sale any place else. When I do go there I try to not use a buggy so I can only buy what I can carry. I try to only go through the self check lanes so I can scan my own coupons. I also usually only have a few coupons because it makes my trip easier is they don’t scan and I have to get help from the person running the self pays. Like others have said I try to go to the self pay side where a cashier I know is working. It makes for a more pleasant shopping trip.

  33. Amanda

This is the golden ticket. Not the basket of coupons, but a MODEL Wal-Mart that appears coupon-friendly. Wish the luck/policies would spread over yonder & round the states!

  34. MommyMel

it’s so funny seeing that picture. My experiences with Walmart and coupons has been anything but welcoming as seen in other folks posts. I don’t even bother to shop there. It’s not worth my time, effort, energy or money to have to fight the store over their policy, the employees lack of education or management who is not educated as well or chooses to make up the rule as they see fit. I work too hard for money and work harder to make it harder for that nonsense. I don’t care how great the sale is, the price is or anything else. It’s not always about price. It’s about customer service as well and I will pay for that. I don’t care how man bowls of coupons, laminated signs or feel good moments presented on television, until I see the tide turn on the boards that they have gotten their act together, I want no parts of it.

  35. Kristine

I have never seen this before! I’m loooooooving it!

  36. Christen

I have to say I used to get so upset about cashiers who were coupon haters. I’ve been couponing for over a year now and I am not shy anymore! I am very careful with my transactions and make sure I have the right items. Most places have become coupon friendly around me now, so it’s really an issue anymore. I actually miss the old “showdowns” with the wacko cashiers! I used to just give up easy out of embarrasment, but now I would hold up that line until closing time if I had to! Don’t let those nasties get away with it! 🙂

  37. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

My local rite aid will take my excess coupons and physically tape them on the sign next to the product! (are u kidding me?!?) I love it though, goodwill goes a long way nowadays. My market basket has a “coupon wall” where employees will cut ur coupon inserts and organize them into the slots on the wall.

    • kristen

I DO THIS WITH MY COUPONS THAT i HAVE EXTRA OF. I KEEP SOME TAPE IN MY PURSE AND WILL TAPE THEY BY OR ABOVE THE PRODUCT IN CASE SOMEONE COULD USE IT.

      • Leah

Someone left a bunch of $.50/1 Huggies Qs above the Huggies wipes at my local Giant Eagle today…I was very thankful 🙂 Got some wipes for $1.50 (which doesn’t seem great, but I needed to use up my catalina and that’s all I needed)

  38. Our Nifty Notebook

That is a nice gesture! Hopefully they told their employees about it. LOL!

  39. nicole

my walmart recently started this. I am beginning to like mine a little more.

  40. maria

My walmart here in Jax Florida is awesome- There are other ones in other parts of Jax that suck tho- But I have had the cashier here adjust my coupons many times for me- they are cool here

  41. Kristina C

Yay corporate Walmart… now if your philosophy could just trickle down to your cashiers

  42. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I think Walmart needs to look at some of the internet bloggs and see how many people they are loosing due to them being jerks I worked there and they make you watch all these videos and say that they take pride in there customer service and the customer it #1 BULL!!! they teach nothing about taking coupons there’s not one word about coupons Now I go to target rite aid and walgreens and they are Very nice walgreens opens a reg for the ppl that have many coupons so that the ppl that do not have coupons dont get mad. and the one I go to the mang tells you the best deals in his store!!! I was a walmart shopper and I mean $200 -$500 oop no coupons and not food shopping 2-3 times a week now I don’t go to walmart maybe once a month if that and its only to grab a extra copy of all you Only because they are the only place to get it Not good for all you!!!!!!!

  43. DP

I called Corporate and she said it is the POLICY of Walmart to not only take the coupons, but give overage!

    • Chits

Yes I too had this confirmed by the corporate people. But my local walmart only gives overage for physical coupons, not for those printed off the internet 🙁

  44. Sam

I never use to use coupons until I started following these money saving websites! In a tough economy you think stores would welcome all coupons! Cashiers do get annoyed with me because I use coupons, but I don’t care because I am saving money!

  45. Debbie

Thanks for sharing the pic! I usually tape my extra coupons to the merchandise. I go to different stores, but at Target I was told not to do it. the floor supervisor told me that he’ll just pull them out and trash them. So, I just take them to Walmart, commissary, WAGS & CVS.

  46. Krista

I’ve had so many bad experiences at Walmart, I just quit even shopping there all together. I can barely keep up with all the great deals at Target, CVS, and Rite Aid!

  47. Monica

They recently remodeled a Walmart here into a superwalmart and they have the coupon basket. Hopefully they’re more coupon friendly now that they have groceries added.

  48. Chits

I had a similar experience once. I usually don’t have problems using coupons in WM, but this one new store cashier refused to take my coupons because they were internet printables. In spite of me showing her the coupon policy and all, she refused to take it. It was around midnight when I shopped and there was no manager to call for help and no customer care number to call. I came back home and put this grievance on the walmart website and did not hear from them for over a fortnight. Then one day, miraculously a letter comes in my mail where the store manager and the casher sent out a handwritten letter apologizing for their behavior and clearly stating that they will accept internet coupons as long as it has a bar code and return address for redemption. The letter also said that they DO NOT accept internet coupons that say “Free item” unless it is a BOGO kind of deal.

Now I carry this letter in my folder when I go shopping and anytime I have problem, just show this letter. This letter has been far more effective than showing a coupon policy as I usually shop at this particular walmart only and for the cashers the letter from their store manager makes more impact than an impersonal corporate policy document.

  49. Tricia

That is a great photo. How ironic! I have such a hard time with coupons at Walmart that i stopped shopping there. They do not take internet coupons at all, for any amount. They do not know their own coupon policy. What a joke! No wonder their business is suffering. Looks like i am not alone either based on the comments i have seen here.
