Hmmm let me think about this.. Do I want 101 pieces of fake food all over my house? I think I’ll pass on this one! haha

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

HAHA!! I was thinking the same thing.

    • Collin

I know watcha mean… inside the couch cushions, in the fridge, under the table, in my purse, in the toilet and the list goes on. 🙂

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I know what you mean, BUT, I will bear the consequences. My 4-year-old will LOVE YOU so much for this!!!!!! She cannot get enough fake food.

I actually ordered 2 sets. One for her cousin too.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

haha, I was thinking the same thing. Yet more things around the house that he wants a specific piece of and I can’t find.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I’m with ya on that! Great price, but too much stuff to keep up with.

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Will have to buy baskets also to keep these things organised

    • Suzanne Moore Fisher

      My thoughts exactly!!

    • chrissygwhite

I know – I have food all over the floor right now. But their just so cute!

    • Christa D

Seriously!! For a more organized home, awesome, but here it would be everywhere. Just like our other multi-piece toys.

    • rick

HA!…I was thinking the exact same thing. I purchased this Christmas of 2009 and ever since it has been dubbed “the toy that never stops” You step on one piece and you throw it in the garbage and it just keeps coming back.

    • vaylene

This food looks like soft plastic. My sister that does daycare says not to mess with the soft plastic. Kids bite into it and it stays dented. She says spend money on good quality food or you’ll just end up throwing it away eventually.

  2. Taryn

Does anyone know if this set is BPA-free?

    • julie

It’s probably made in China and is not bpa free. I hope it is, but still…

  3. katie

Ordered it! lol, I know I am going to regret this one. I will be stepping on 101 pieces of food every day.

  4. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I ordered this, thank you! I almost got this exact set for my son for Christmas to go with his play kitchen – so glad I waited!

  5. Nicole

My daughter got this set for Christmas…some of the pieces are pretty thin plastic. But still, good price and she likes them. I immediately put over half of them up, so as they get lost or broke, I’ll have replacements.

  6. DeeTrig

I’m thinking about ordering this as a quick go to gift for a birthday or Christmas…never too early to be thinking about early presents!

  7. Heather N

    Thanks Hip!

  8. cfrandsen

    Awesome deal! Thank you!

  9. Lindsey

If anybody has an extra $10 amazon coupon from babytalk…i got it in the mail today and it only came with a 20% off diapers! I would love to trade it…my email is Linda101293@aol.com

  10. trinakay

Didn’t charge any tax, and the shipping to home is only .97!! Got them, was just wanting some a few days ago, and here they are!

  11. Sherri

This would be a great thing to donate to the preschool. We’ve donated a lot of toys lately though so I’ll have to think on it.

  12. Lynsey

I paid $24.95 for this set at Toys R’ Us around Christmas. I hate wasting money but am glad some will grab a great deal.

This is good play food but it is quite small porportionally and everything is hard plastic. But for $5, I would jump on it! Do expect to spend an extra 15 minutes cleaning up daily, it’s crazy what can happen between a toddler and 101 pieces of food.

  13. Dana B.

I’m in for one for my Nephew! (hope my Sister doesn’t hate me ;))

  14. Olivia Smith

Got it- will pick up in stores for my nieces! 🙂

  15. Shelly

Just a idea, but this is what I do……I take all the pieces out, separate them into like 20 pieces/ea. and then thats all they get in a basket. After awhile we swap them. That way not all the pieces are out and I still have control, lol. 😉 You could always separate them and get little baskets from the Dollar Store and give them as gifts….This package could be like 3-5 gifts.

    • Lisa

Shelly, I love that idea! Maybe I’ll split these up and put them in my daughter’s Easter basket 🙂

      • Janae

Ooooo, I’m loving these ideas ladies!!!
Seperating them and switching them out every now and again WOULD keep the kids interested!
And Easter gifts!!! Yeah! I didn’t even think about that, these would work great in their baskets!!!
        Thanks for sharing!!!

        • Smitha

Exactly my thought. My daughter’s birthday is coming up. I was thinking about what to give as party favors. Our friend has 2 girls – aged 2.5 and 5. If I give them different things, they are bound to fight over it. If I split up the play food, both will be happy. 🙂
          Thanks Collin!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

      This is a great tip!!!!

    • katie

boxes from baby wipes will work great,I have tonx of these and always fill bad to throw away them…

  16. Joyce

I have one of those plastic three drawer things (white with 3 plastic drawers) that we keep all my daughter’s food/dishes, etc for her play kitchen in. Then I am not stepping on it all the time….unless she decides to dump the whole drawer that is, lol!

  17. MollyC

Target had a similar one in the 75% off clearance section for $2.50.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Aww man. But that’s ok. With my luck, I would be driving all the way to Target and find out they were out of this item.

  18. AndreaKay

Yay! I was wanting to get a set for little girl. What a great price. I got 2 sets. Maybe I will give the other set to the church nursery 🙂

  19. Renee L

I was trying to do it but it kept saying the cost was $10 when it says its on rollback for $5

  20. Erica D.

An amazing price but I need to know that an item that will invariably end up in my toddler’s mouth is BPA free. There’s nothing in the product description on Walmart’s site to indicate that this is the case with this set so I guess I’m going to have to pass. Love the idea about splitting up the set so you don’t have to pick up 101 pieces everyday though!

    • Dorinne

Sometimes I can find more info by searching the product on different sites. I find that Amazon’s descriptions tend to be pretty good. Maybe you could try googling the play set and see if it turns up with a more detailed description somewhere else so that you’ll know. 🙂

    • Taryn

I agree…especially if it’s play food…you know it’s going in the mouth at some point. I’ve been wanting a big set like this for a while but can’t seem to ever find one that states it’s BPA free.

  21. SenoraE

Awesome deal! Going to keep 50 for home and send 50 to the sitter’s house.

  22. aysha

nooo way am i going to have 101 pieces to pick up! lol…i already have enough books, blocks, and legos to tidy up multiple times a day! im glad a lot of ppl find this post helpful though, and im also glad someone thought about donating it to a prek…those kids would def have a BLAST with it!

  23. Leighann

Got my little one one of these sets during after-Christmas clearance at Target. We paid $7 for it. Food is scattered from one end of the house to another :-\ Perhaps this would be better for an older child (mine is 20 months)?

  24. Debbie

Perfect! Thank you! I had a friend over recently with her kids and we were looking through my son’s play food. With hot dogs smaller than the french fries, lol. It will be nice to throw out the beat up stuff he has and for $5, can’t beat it. =)

  25. ashlee

Just bought them. We just got a kitchen set for Christmas so this will be nice. I’ll be splitting them up so only so many out at once! But what a great price.

  26. Leah

Hey all!! So in my mailbox today I received 3 of the 20% off amazon diapers coupons! I already had 2 so I don’t need 3 more. If anyone would like one of these coupons just reply with your Email. To make it fair I will give them to the first 3 people to respond!

P.S. Anyone who is interested in trading a $10 coupon for a 20% off coupon I would also be willing to do that.
    Thanks!

    • Tracey

I’d love one if still available! I’m sorry, I don’t have a $10 off (but wish I did!). My email is the3edges at gmail dot com.
      Thanks!

    • Alycia
    • Anna

anna_bonita@hotmail.com – I’m trying to go to buying all diapers from amazon because i am 8 months pregnant with 2 kids (1 in diapers) and just CAN’T seem to get to the store when the deals are good for diapers – SOOO tired now. Amazon is looking more and more appealing these days. Thanks in advance if you send one to me!

      • Anna

oops, everyone else was typing as i was 🙂 maybe next time…..

    • Leah

Hey All, I sent them to Mollie, Leighann and Tracey. But I will be sure to share any extra I get with y’all again!

      • Leighann

Thank you so much, Leah! That code will be put to some good use!

    • Suni

I would be interested in the 20% off coupon..Thanks

  27. Chris

Awesome! I got a Step 2 shopping cart 75% off at Target last week, this Step 2 food will be perfect. A nice gift for Granddaughter’s 2nd birthday next year. Retail value near $60 for both things, but I only paid about $13! Thank you!

  28. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Not trying to be a downer, but I think these pieces are VERY SMALL. Target sold what looks to be the exact same pieces last year in the dollar stop. I bought them then & most of the pieces are about finger size- the purple eggplant for example- smaller than my thumb, celery- finger size if that, the whole chicken ( in the 2nd row from the top) about 1in x 2 in. May not be safe for smaller children who put things in their mouth- please be careful!

You can read the reviews on size at Walmart.com

  29. Jana

Thanks sooo much for this deal! My daughter got a play kitchen for Christmas and we have been looking for a set of food that had alot of different food in it like that one and that is a GREAT deal! Got mine ordered!

  30. Kristi G.

I just got the disney kitchen on clearance at Target for around $15, so this will go perfectly with that for my daughter’s 3rd birthday next month. She will LOVE it! 🙂 She is big enough to pick them up herself, so I don’t worry too much. We have a rule…if I have to pick up toys/clothes/etc., then they become mine (for a little while at least). All I have to say is, “Look at the new toys I got!” and my girls start picking up. I help, of course! 🙂

    • Smitha

Oh wow! What a brilliant idea! 🙂 I’m going to try it on my almost 3 year old daughter. Thanks 🙂

  31. Amy

HI Leah- I’d love a 20% coupon if you still have one, seems like we are always buying diapers!
    Thanks!
    ahayman2002@gmail.com

  32. J

Genious…separate into 2 (or three) different buckets. One can always be played with…the other can be quickly cleaned with diluted bleach water!!

  33. Shayla

Finally got a Walmart deal to go through! And this is a really good deal…looks like there are a few food items that we don’t have in our current set. To be honest, my child is simply happy w/ the fake food, no need for a kitchen but I did pick up an extra set for a friend who let’s us crash her kitchen once a week. Can’t beat the price!!!

  34. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

I found this exact set at Walmart on 80% clearance last week for $2 so you might want to check your store shelves!

    • Shayla

thanks for the heads up but I hate even stepping foot into a Walmart store, except near my parents because they also have an Auntie Anne’s =)

  35. Kelly G.

Hate to do this on this post but if anyone has a $10 off amazon coupon code to spare can you please email me at blondie0479@yahoo.com. I have to stock up on diapers baaad. Oh and I have a 20% gymboree coupon I can trade for. Thanks =)

  36. NC_Anna

ShopAtHome 3% cash back! I forgot again… 2nd time today! Grrrrrr……… Hey no tax though 🙂

  37. Elisabeth L.

Yay, I work at a preschool. And we really needed new food, so thanks.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for the idea! Grabbed one for my daughter and one for her pre-k 🙂

  38. SarahL

Got 2 of them! Thanks! (One for my son and one for my sisters’ friends’ son)

  39. Julia

wow picked up 2 can use one as a birthday gift! thanks!

  40. Ellen

This will make a great classroom gift for my son’s pre-k teacher!

  41. Maggie

My daughter got a similar one but with cake and other stuff during Christmas. It was cute but the plastic/paint smelled terrible, so we have to throw them, it broke her heart… Made in China.

  42. Lindsey

If anybody has an extra $10 amazon coupon from babytalk…i got it in the mail today and it only came with a 20% off diapers! I would love to trade it…my email is Linda101293@aol.com

  43. bleev

Perfect!! My son is going to love this set!!! We got him a Step 2 play kitchen for Xmas and although he already has a few fake foods, I think this will add to the variety!! And thank you for the ideas of putting some of it away and rotating them! I think I will try that, instead of having 100+ pieces of them everywhere!!! Thank you so much!!!

  44. Jaime

I ordered 2! One for each of my friends’ kids, not my problem if food is all over the house LoL!

  45. Brittany Erickson

Just to mention…if anyone’s target still has good toy clearance, I got almost this same package for $2.50! They had like 50 left at my target!

  46. Shanda

Thanks so much! I was wanting to buy this at Christmas. Step 2 makes quality products.

    • Carrie

Just an FYI: This set is usually priced $10 at Walmart; so this is a good deal but not extraordinary!

  47. sarah

I’m not a big fan of plastic play food, let alone 101 pieces of it! 🙂

However, we had this set when I taught Prek and K and the kids love it. So it might be worth ordering for a school/daycare/church nursery or just keeping until Toys for Tots for next year?

  48. Mandi Y.

Thanks for posting this!! My dd’s have been asking for play food and I kept saying no because I just didn’t want to pay much for it…but with this price I just purchased it!

I will be splitting this set up though. A little over half for them to play with and pulling some particular pieces into our school room for sorting!

  49. Evelyn

Thats a great deal but I got an even better one last week at the target toy clearance! They had the target brand for only $2.50! Got 3 sets, one for my daughter, donated one to her school and one for a gift:) LOVE saving money!!!! Thanks Collin
