I love the birthday club! I signed up for my son.

Both of my kids are signed up in this club and all we got was a card addressed to them with a $3 off anything $3 or more coupon. No fanfare or balloons when we went last week!

same here! In fact when we went into the store and used the coupon the cashier never said anything about his birthday….I forgot all the perks when I signed my kiddos up, after reading Collins post you would think the employees would say something…cant complain though, he did get a train for his Thomas set for 6.00!

You have to go to the customer service desk and tell them it’s your kid’s bday, they give out the crowns and balloons and all that there! 😉 Hope that helps for next time!

I have been signing up for this over the past 3 years and STILL have not gotten a thing!

You have to go to Customer Service and TELL them it’s your child’s birthday…they then give them the balloons before you start shopping, and announce it over the Loudspeaker system! In October (my kids are born 2 years, 3 weeks apart) they gave both of the kids balloons, a coloring activity set, foam crowns, AND a FREE DINNER at a local steakhouse!!!!.PLUS we got 2 gift cards for each child, AND the annoucement over the loudspeaker…my kids were in HEAVEN!

The Giraffe has still never called my son and it’s been 3 years now! I do however get the birthday card.

We’ve never gotten a phone call. Basically, you go in to customer service, hand in the little card and get a balloon and crown. That’s it. Nothing over the intercom. Also, we don’t get $5 off $25. We get a $3 off any purchase of $3 or more. Better than nothing. My 3 year old only cares about the balloon anyway. lol

My children have never gotten anything more than a card with a coupon attached.

I’ve signed my son up for this and he has received a card and a coupon card for $5 off $25 purchase. He’s only received this once and has had two birthdays since then. But then I got to thinking maybe because his birthday is every 4 years (feb. 29) he’ll only get it once every four years?? Haha.

Last year they forgot my son’s birthday. Because I know how to twitter and speak up for myself we ended up with 2 x $3 giftcards.
    Thats good enough for me!
Th e ear before we got a nice treatment from customer service, you just have to communicate to them.
    thanks for the reminder

If you read the fine print, you need to go to Customer Service and let them know that it is their birthday and show them the card. Every year my daughter gets a card with a $3 gift card in it. She does not want the loud speaker/balloon/hat treatment anymore, but enjoys spending the money on a little trinket or towards something larger. Also you need to request the phone call if you wish it. In past years we also received free birthday planner with coupons arriving before the card too! Other than free meal clubs, this freebee has been well worth filling out the form! Also when she was born, we signed her up with Safeway Birthday club and for the first year they send out a coupon for a free 6″ mini cake!

We usually received the $3 giftcards, which are awesome!!! 🙂 But you have to spend at LEAST $3 before they can apply it (we tried to get 3 Hot Wheels at 99 cents each, and it wouldn’t work, so we got 4 🙂 However, last year, they ALSO sent a coupon for a free Thomas the Train Engine up to 11.99, but I don’t know WHY for my 3-year old vs. anyone else? That was VERY cool!

i did this for my son last year and we went in to customer service and handed our card, he got a ballon which he was so happy about and a crown and a coloring book, they also announced that it was michaels birthday on the loudspeaker and got a leggos keychain, he didnt get 3 dollars off though, it was a 5 of 25. but still happy 🙂

  12. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Alas, our baby girl is still too young to sign up. Won’t be 1 until March. I will def. sign up when the time is right, though. Thanks!

I signed my daughter up twice, and we haven’t received a card to take to Customer Service. I guess I’ll try again. 🙁
