I got chosen to do the Philadelphia Cooking Creme party in March. I’ll send a pic when I get all my swag in the mail!
I was a “finalist” for the Philly party and then quit the whole thing because it seemed like the whole “setting up a party” as indicated in my confirmation email was a pretty big hassle. I also didn’t appreciate how I got scolded by House Party for not following through. I am now aware of a Singer party that is available and am wondering–is all this worth it? I mean, should I pursue another party or is there a lot of lead-up work that I’m not going to enjoy. And what about the guests? Do they enjoy these things? Not all of the parties have really great offers for the guests.
I know that the “setting up the party” steps look like a lot of work, but it’s really not that bad. I always set up a quick party on the website so that I can be confirmed as a hostess. Later when I know for sure when I want to have the party and who I want to invite, I go back and modify my party on the house party website.
I too was a finalist for the Philly party and didn’t respond quickly enough to be a hostess. No big deal. I’ll just apply for another party and try again. These parties are great, but I’m convinced that you do have to visit the website frequently and respond to the emails very quickly in order to become a hostess.
I know that a lot of people are really into hosting these parties, but, personally, I have to say that it seemed like a lot of work for not much in return. I was ‘chosen’ for the Athenos yogurt party and the box was quite disappointing to me. There is no way I would have felt comfortable hosting a party and giving out the cheap notepad and so-called stress ball( it wasn’t really a stress ball) to each guest as provided. I ended up using the free yogurt coupons and I’m using up the notepads myself and giving them to family members. I was sent one yogurt coupon for each guest, so I would have had to supplement with a lot more food and drink for it to to feel like a party. Then, to have to post invitations, ,updates on how excited I was to host my yogurt party and finally photos of the event would have been too much for me! Needless to say, I will not be applying for any more parties, but I’m happy for everyone who enjoys the whole process. I’m just saying it is not for everyone..
K, thanks for the input. That’s exactly what I was wondering. Some people love, love, love doing Tupperware, Pampered Chef, Scentsy and everything in between, but I just feel funny pushing a product on my friends. And if there’s not a lot in it for everyone, and there’s some leg work involved, I think I might pass on these parties too.
I think that it depends on the party, don’t apply for parties that you’re not interested in. We won the Hasbro game night one and we are huge gamers. I also hosted the Durex party and had a girls night from it. Now we’re on our third party and I’m hosting a dinner party with the cooking cream from Philly – all of these parties are things I would have liked to do with or without the house party pack, the party pack just helps me create a theme. You can find out what’s in the party pack before you apply too so if you don’t think yogurt coupons and pads of paper are worth it then just don’t apply to that party. I’m applying to the DiGiorno hoops party b/c we’re huge college basketball fans and the greenworks party b/c I am trying to be more natural. I think the concept is great and yes it is work but hey you’re getting free stuff out of it and getting to have a party. I would recommend only going for parties you would actually hold regardless of getting a house party pack.
I clicked on the link, and started to “set up” the party by entering guests email addresses, then I got an email that confirmed me as a host. It took me all of 5-10 minutes. And since I’ve done one in the past, I know it’s going to be good!!!
I’m hosting a house party for Huggies Pull ups soon. They sent a box full of goodies! I got a package of free pull ups, and each guest gets a coupon book (coupons include $2/1 pull ups and lots of household stuff!), a DVD, a dance mat, etc. Cool deal!
I am hosting a pull ups party also. Anybody can get the dvd’s they sent for free from the huggies website. 1 free pack of pull-ups and some cheap dance mats. NOT IMPRESSED!
I reacently did a GERBER house party, That was AMAZING! They sent me so much stuff, it was like christmas, formula, bars, cereal, coolers,yogurt, drinks, ect. and that was not just for me. they sent me enough to give my guests all of it!
I had a Hamilton Beach BrewStation House party, and got a large coffeemaker, and last week I had a Tru Moo house party, with lots of great gifts for the kids. It’s so exciting when your big box arrives.

I was selected to host a Zatarain’s party on Mardi Gras (March 8). This was easy for us since we had lived in New Orleans for 8 years. We now live in Michigan and still love to cook cajun food and we always use Zatarain’s brand. I agree with many of the comments about other host party themes. You just have to pick one that you can feel good about hosting. Our guests will have a nice spread of jambalaya, red beans and rice, and shrimp creole and we hope to top off the meal with a king cake (yum!). Our host box included 2 rice mixes, creole mustard, creole seasoning, root beer extract, a nice Zatarain’s bag, lots of mardi gras beads and masks, and four coupons for free Zatarain’s items (plus recipes and ideas). Laissez Les Bon Temps Roulez!

I did not get picked for any of the parties that I applied for. I wonder how they are choosing people to host. I got on my email and it just says they don’t want me to host. Oh well, I guess maybe next time.

For those of you who haven’t or are new to it – it’s FANTASTIC! For the Bull’s Eye BBQ sauce I got 8 bottles of their new sauce (which wasn’t even in stores) – 2 of 4 new flavors. A nice grill tool set, 20 coupons for FREE BBQ sauce, coupons for 30 song downloads, games to play, and 20 can koozies. The party was awesome and the goodies were great!

Im hosting Digoirno too! Really I think its only as big of a deal as you make it. We have friends over all the time so this is just another time “hanging out” for us. The only difference is we will serve pizza and play on our basketball acrade game (which we would have done anyway). I have no problem snapping a few photos of happy people eating Digoirno. It’s just another excuse to see our friends and this time they get to see why I love couponing so much!
The Singer party doesnt seem worth it…you only get to “use” a sewing machine and you have to attend a “training” at JoAnns. The Little Debbie or the Kraft ones would probably be fun.
Well I think I am going to give up on this whole House party thing. I have applied for several parties and haven’t gotten any of them. What is the secret? Is it random that your name is picked or do you have to be first to apply? Just curious.
