My neighbor says she does really well at BJ’s. I haven’t been in there. But she says that if it’s a big value-size box of something – like cereal – with three bags in it, that they’ll take three manufacturer’s coupons on it. And then they’ll take a BJ’s coupon on top of that. I may have to give it a try with the trial membership. Thanks!

If it’s labeled for individual resale, yes they’ll accept a coupon for each toothpaste, diced tomato can or whatever. As always, print the coupon policy if you’re using multiple manufacturer coupons. They also have high value BJ coupons you can stack every month. Three of those sheets are at the entrance, ask for the month’s coupon book at customer service. As a member, they mail it.

    • Divya

I was never allowed to stack coupons I am a BJ’s club member still 🙁

      • Miriam

Email corporate about it so you have something in writing about your specific problem. Coupons are the biggest differantiator between BJ’s and Costco. (That, and that you can pay with any credit card – Costco only takes American Express.)

        • mouni

I second what Miriam said. It’s their coupon policy! You maybe be able to find it online .

    • mouni

Bj’s has some great coupons sometimes on cereal, crackers and diapers. You also pay less for chicken breast and ground beef. But I don’t find it much cheaper for a lot of other items and some of their orange juices for example are watered down (I experienced this personnally when I compared the Juice bought there as opposed to the grocery store) , Remember that you’re paying 50$ a year for a membership. It works for me but you don’t necessarily get great deals on everything and it all depends on your needs,

      • Miriam

Membership is $45 but they very often offer it for 14 months instead of 12 and give you a $10 gift card that you can use immediately on your purchase that day if you’d like. So it’s often $35 for 14 months or $2.50 a month.

Too bad its not in Texas 🙁

I know we have a BJ’s with the gas station. Will this trial membership also allow you to get gas there?

    • Maureen

I had a trial membership before joining and got gas with no problem while on the trial period. You keep the same card if you end up joining so I think the system sees it as the same.

  4. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

The closest one is 97 miles… don’t think it’s worth the time or gas. I wish we had one closer though!

  5. Sara

Does anyone know how often you can get a free trial membership? I had one that just ended in Feb, and I’m not sure if I can get this again or not.

    Thanks!

    • mouni

I don’t think you can since you tried it already.

We just recently switched from Costco to BJ’s and we’re extremely happy! We love using coupons (stacked a $5 BJ’s coupon with a $1 MFG coupon off Iams dog food). It’s $36 for a 46 pound bag (before discount) so that is a really great deal.

You can also use your own credit card at BJ’s so we can get frequent flyer miles with each purchase. There is also a self check-out there so you can get in and out quickly.

And here’s the best part….the stores isn’t as crowded as Costco. For example, the day before the Super Bowl, we couldn’t get in to our local Costco…the parking lot was slammed. So we drove over to BJ’s and had no problem getting in and out. A huge time/hassle saver!

Their prices are comparable to Costco’s so the switch was a no-brainer (it’s also closer to our home).

We did the trial membership at BJ’s and we got a $10 BJ’s gift card making our membership cost only $35 for the first year. There were also a bunch of new member coupons we got (free bananas, baked goods, etc.) so that was awesome too!

    • mouni

I never liked Costco because of the coupon issue and I prefer BJ’S.

does the trial membership have an upcharge? i remember the old trial memberships charged 5% or something?

    • Miriam

The 60 day trial memberships don’t. The one day passes generally do have a 5% charge (because they’re a pass into the store and you’re not actually a member).

Found it! I’ve copied and pasted their coupon policy from their website: https://www.bjs.com/help.content.help.E

    Can I use coupons?
Absolutely! BJ’s accepts all manufacturers’ coupons — including the ones that come in your Sunday newspaper — giving you additional savings on top of our everyday low prices. Plus, we offer BJ’s Members-only coupons throughout the year. After all, saving you money is what BJ’s is all about.

You can get your exclusive BJ’s coupons:

Online. Members, you can access and print in-Club coupons once you register with an online account on BJs.com. Register by clicking on “Sign In/Register” at the top of any BJs.com page.
    In BJ’s Journal, a BJ’s Member magazine
    Through special-offer mailings
    In BJ’s in-Club coupon flyers
Via email. If you are registered on BJs.com, you can sign in to your online account and select “Email Options” to subscribe to BJ’s emails and receive weekly updates on BJs.com Instant Coupons.
What are the guidelines for using more than one coupon?

When purchasing a multi-pack of “individual for sale” packaged items, which is a set of items that could be sold individually (each item has a barcode) shrink-wrapped and sold together, Members can combine one BJ’s-issued coupon with manufacturers’ coupons. However, you cannot exceed the actual retail price in the total value of coupons.

    Examples of a multi-pack:

    Three-pack of toothpaste
    Two-pack of salad dressing
    Three-pack of taco kits
Examples of products that are NOT multi-packs:

Box of cereal containing two bags (the bags cannot be sold individually)
    Case of water
    Case of soda
    Case of motor oil
Members may also use one BJ’s coupon and one manufacturer’s coupon on a single item.

In terms of manufacturers’ coupons that are “buy one, get one free,” we will honor the coupon for items in stock as long as our price does not exceed the maximum value stated on the coupon. If the manufacturer’s coupon does not state the maximum value, we cannot honor the coupon.

We cannot accept multiple BJ’s-issued coupons on a product.

    • Maggie

If you’re a member you get Q’s mailed…you can also print Q’s from their site and they always have a HUGE display of Q’s in store right when you walk in!

  11. Ali

We love BJ’s, and you really can get some great deals there, especially on multi-packs, where you can stack BJ’s coupons with multiple manufacturer’s coupons. If anyone’s interested, I post BJ’s coupon matchups on my blog: https://frugaljacksonvillemom.com/category/bjs/
