I rented from this website for the first time this year and could not be happier! I saved over $350 by renting with them, on only three books. Every book may ship separately, but I received all of them within a couple days of each other. šŸ™‚

Yeah, not such a good deal on my books… I can buy them through Amazon for $1 or $2 more and not have to worry with returning them. Plus Amazon lets you sell them back.

Hopefully you make out better than I did on selling your books back to amazon! I spent at least $300 on books last semester and they seriously only offered me $35 bucks to sell them ALL of those books back to them! I was kind of bummed about that!

that’s pretty much how it goes trying to sell back college books anywhere! It’s ridiculous how little you get back from them so I might as well just ship them right back and not worry about selling them.

Hm, maybe I should look into this option quick before shopping at that horrible school bookstore this weekend. Especially when I have classes I know I’ll ace so I won’t use the books past a semester.

another way to get amazing savings on books is to search https://www.bookfinder.com. it pulls together new and used books from over 100,000 booksellers. you can easily see the cheapest deals and decide where to buy! i recently bought four books using this service. for the price of one book used ($74.50) in the online college bookstore, i got four books for $51.34, with my used copy of the same book for $30 (not all four are textbooks; three are basic nonfiction books). if i bought them used from the college bookstore, i would have spent $109.75 + $6.59 tax for a total of $116.34. using bookfinder to score the best deals, i paid $51.34 total! one book was cheaper to buy it new than the used price at the college bookstore! i always assumed amazon would have the cheapest used book prices, but i got mine from ebay, abebooks.com and buy.com.

https://collegebudget.com is another daily deal site geared toward college students. you can only sign up for it with an .edu email addy. it worked for me with an alumni edu addy; i signed up to buy a $25 bookrenter certificate for $10 to help my future stepdaughter save money as she starts her freshman year in college. she signed up & bought one through my referral link, so i got to buy my deal for only $5 instead of $10! it took a couple days (aug 11) to get the discount codes we bought, and then i waited until yesterday to use them. unfortunately, my book was no longer available to rent, just to buy. šŸ™ i chatted with customer service who said they don’t know when/if a book will be restocked, but they do restock daily.

more info…since my book was out-of-stock on bookrenter, i bought it new on half.com for $89.69. this was after using the code BTSAF12, which applies a 12% discount. this book did not come up for me when searching bookfinder.com. also, bookfinder.com hadn’t updated as it linked to some books that had been purchased; not sure how often they update, but clearing your cache may help.

lesson i learned: get your books as soon as you know which ones you need to get the best rental or used prices. don’t wait til the last minute!

the prices for renting my books were soooooo much cheaper than buying them, even from amazon!!!! I’m starting grad school in nursing and the books retail would NOT have been cheap, even to buy used!!! I got 4 books for a little over 100 bucks!!! That’s how much just one book would’ve cost on amazon (used) for me to buy! AND, I don’t have to worry about re-selling my books at the end of the quarter. GREAT DEAL!!!
