Dollar General: 90% Off Green Dot Items + $2-$3 Yellow Dot Clearance Clothing Sale
Wow! If you’ll be out and about running errands today, you may want to stop by your local Dollar General store and check out these great clearance deals! Reader Liz emailed me to let us know what she was able to score at her Dollar General store yesterday. She found a sign that stated all Yellow dot clothing items were only $2 each. Plus, she found that Green dot items were 90% off this morning! Check out her emails:
“I went to my DG store today. They had a sign on the door saying “Yellow Dot Clothing $2″. I found 3 2-piece set boy outfits: scooby-doo!; spiderman; disney cars $2 each (original price $15 ea.).”
“Dollar General green dot items are 90% off starting today. See what I scored this morning:
*3-piece Disney Princess/Cars Dinnerware—$0.30
*Metal Trigger Nozzle—$0.25
*56 oz. Watering Can—$0.25
I saw a flower grow kit without green dot on it, asked cashier to check price. It was $0.01! I bought three of them. Can’t beat that price! My DG has plenty garden signs, flags, leave bags, garden apron, tools, flower pot, baskets, etc.”
(As you can see, the Yellow Dot items were marked incorrectly at Mary’s store!)
Please note that my sidekick, Mary, also headed on over to her local Dollar General Store in Austin, TX this morning and unfortunately did NOT find a sign on the door advertising the $2 clothing and only found a 50% off sign by the Yellow dot clothing. However, she asked a manager about the Yellow dot items and found that they were indeed on sale for just $3 each at her store! Yay! 🙂 SO, be sure to ask a cashier or manager if your store does not have the Yellow tag items marked.
Keep in mind that the sizes and selections may be very limited limited. However, my sidekick, Mary, was able to score a 2-piece Cars Clothing set for only $3 (regularly $12!) and a Girls Shirt for only $3 (regularly $10). These seem like great prices considering they are 70-75% off! Also, she found that all Blue tag items, which included some Winter and Fall styles, are now 50% off at her store.
Come back to let us know what bargains you snatch up! Also, note that if you would rather shop this Friday or Saturday, you can use the $5 off $25 coupon found here (valid 10/26-10/27 only) to save even more; however, I’m guessing the selection may be pretty picked over by then.
(Thanks, Liz!)
You can also use Manufacturers coupons with the $5 off $25 coupon on Friday and Saturday. Just make sure to give the cashier the $5 off first. Then have them ring the manufacturers coupons.
I found sunblock and aftersun lotion for $.35 a piece. I also found a GI joe for $.35, perfect size for a stocking stuffer!

I found two big couch pillows on clearance for 80 cents apiece. I don’t care for the orange color, but Ii just need to throw a cover on it, and it’s good to go.
where did you find them?
Can you describe them a bit more?
Stacy, the pillows I saw at the store were almost salmon colored. They were printed with canvas looking design. They looked fairly cheap but would be great for outside for a season. Or as suggested used as filling inside throwpill cover.

Looking at the online stuff. The 6 piece sets of sand toys would be an awesome beach party favor deal. I’m going to check another dollar general today.
The wooden bird feeders did anyone snag one yet? Do they look like they could be painted? I’m thinking it could work for a cute project for my kids to do as a gift for their grandparents.
I think you could paint the bird feeders with no problem. I purchased some for my kids to paint.
What a nightmare!!!! Went to Dollar General today and found lots of Disney princess & cars plate sets, sippy cups, etc. and they had the green dot on them but the cashier said they are not on clearance. I pointed out that the sign said 90% off green dot and these as well as some other cold cups w/ straws had green dots. She would not sell them to me. She said only a few items w/ green dots were 90% off. I went to another store & they were all sold out but the cashier there told me that yes, they were 90% off and they sold everything they had. Maybe she wanted them for herself????????
that has happened to me before. Last year they got all the tables/chairs that way. THIS YEAR I phrase like this if questioned, “I thought green dots were 90% off though ??” they will say , “not all of them etc etc” I respond, “Oh, well can you scan it for me just to be sure?” They might insist it is not 90% off but just keep repeating, “Ok lets price check it though just to be sure, you never know sometimes only one color isn’t on sale because of its sku and the others might be” then when it rings up 90% off say “I’m so glad I asked you to scan it. ” And KILL THEM WITH KINDNESS so they hate you more hahaha.
My dollar general had the 90% off sign, but it said excluded all licensed character items, or something like that. I believe they were meaning the items that had disney and marvel characters. This is mostly the case with any home/decor items, but does not apply to clothes. If you ever question the price of an item ask the manager, and then if still a dispute ask them to hold the item for you until you get the issue resolved.
I found boys adjustable waist shorts, in both jean and khakis, for $2. Insert happy momma dance. I got some good garden stuff for really cheap. Also the red dot college stuff was 50% off. I am going to watch to see if it come down more. There are several organization things I want.
Did anyone else run into the problem where they couldn’t be sold something for a penny? Found planters in the 90% off section but the cashier told me they aren’t allowed to let anything go out for that price. First time shopper of bargain hunting. Thanks in advance.
