Take your family gathering to the next level with a unique glow-in-the-dark Easter egg hunt!  This is such a fun twist to the routine egg hunts we all know and love. If you are hosting an evening Easter celebration, consider doing this at night! Both kids and adults alike will love it.

It’s so east to make glow in the dark easter eggs!

I actually did this when my kids were young many years ago using glow sticks inside plastic eggs. However, you can also opt to use the small LED tea lights which offer a nice and affordable glow-up, too!  They are easy to put together and look super cool with the flickering light. Even better, the tea lights (unlike the glow sticks) can be re-used for next year or for other projects.

Directions

1

Place tea lights inside eggs and secure them shut. If using glow sticks, crack the glow sticks first.

2

Scatter them in a nighttime egg hunt and let the fun begin!

Tips for hosting a successful glow in the dark Easter egg hunt:

  • You can use glow sticks, LED tea lights, or consider using LED finger lights inside the plastic eggs!
  • Be sure to remember how many eggs you have hidden.
  • Include little goodies inside the eggs too like candy, money, stickers, or small party favors.
  • Making this a scavenger hunt with clues could be super fun, too!
  • Outfit your crew in glow in the dark bracelets and necklaces for a full on GLOW party!

Here’s what my teammate Liz has to say about glow stick Easter eggs:

“My friends and I do this every year for our kids and it is definitely the kids’ favorite part of Easter now! It’s so fun and cool to see everything lit up at night time. We used glow sticks.

My tip would be to make sure you give yourself PLENTY of time fill those eggs if you plan to hide a lot! The first year we did this we totally underestimated how long it would take us to fill 200 eggs and our egg hunt ended up being MUCH later than anticipated, we were afraid that the glow would go away so we waited until right before we planned the hunt to fill them. After that year, we decided to fill the eggs much earlier in the day (glow sticks glow for 8-12 hours, so you can do it early). ”

Light up party favor rings work really well too, and they may be cheaper than tea lights. I got my set off of Amazon. We love doing this and got complements about it!

Yep those work too! Thanks for sharing Brittany!

The tea lights are $7.99 for 24 pack right now on Amazon! That’s cheaper than the rings which are 8.95

What a great idea! Perfect for tweens who feel “too old for kid things.”

I got these this year and really liked them! Can be reused if you want to put the tabs back in. https://a.co/d/i8ek1iF
