My son entered a local contest sponsored by the American Legion. He studied the American Flag and wrote an essay about it. In turn, I’ve learned a few things from him about our flag! It should never be used as a decoration – use bunting of blue, white, & red to honor its colors. Of course you can wear a flag lapel pin or flag patch, but now I stray away from clothing or other decorations resembling our flag. Instead I want to revere it and show it the proper respect for all that it stands for. Just thought I would share with you all . . .
thanks for writing that, Jennifer.
Respectful, thoughtful & informative comments!
Thanks for sharing.
I agree. Wearing an image of the American flag and wearing material that actually looks like you cut up a flag to adorn your body are two different things. I would never wear this scarf personally.
Totally agree. You read my mind posting that. Thanks, Jennifer.
I am in agreement that this scarf is disrespectful. It’s flag etiquette 101.
Nicely said Jennifer!
I agree with you, Jennifer.
Anyone know if it’ll be here by the 4th?
No Heidi I wouldn’t count on it. Last time I ordered from them (and the only time) they were overwhelmed with the amount of orders because of the promotion and it took weeks for me to get my scarf and cheapo earrings.
American flag…… Made in China 😀
What is a Freedom Flag??? Can’t we call it the American Flag anymore???
I think it’s called a “freedom flag” so they can skirt the issue of wearing the American flag as a decoration (as mentioned above). Wearing a flag is poor flag etiquette so if they call it the ‘freedom flag’ they can say they’re not encouraging people to wear the American flag. Potato, po-ta-toh. Still an article of clothing in poor taste, IMO.
Agreed! 🙂
Can’t wait to wear it next fourth of july.
