Is this a lightweight seat? I’m having twins and trying to get something as light as possible. thanks!!

      • Jessica

It is a lightweight seat, however all get heavy when those babies get chubby:) my 15lb baby is a haul to carry around! Lol

      • brooke

I used these for my twins… they were wonderful. Obviously carrying both of them was a challenge, but you get the hang of it. I had really nice biceps by the time they were out of them. (which for my peanuts was a LONG time!) Good luck on the twins. 🙂

        • Heather

Thanks for all the replies. I got 2 for our twins! Thanks Collin!

          • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

            YW!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Glad to hear that Jessica! Thanks so much for the feedback!

    • Leslie

Yes it is. It is an awesome car seat since the sun shade on the magic one is so large!

      • Brigit

Thank you! The car seat I’m about to buy is here! Excellent timing!

    • Brittany Lee

In my opinion it is light weight. I have held others that are lighter but without the superior protection. The ease of clicking them into the base is worth it! My best friends just had twins (4th pregnancy) and she loves them. Note, she did not have a Chicco with the previous 3 babies. Hope this helps! and Congrats!

    • Mel

I used these with my twins and loved them. Any car seat is heavy when you are trying to carry two though:)

    • laureen

I believe that is a booster seat though. So if you want to get it for when they are older.
On the note of light car seats. I believe so. I gave my friend my old chicco keyfit and she also has a baby trend carseat. She said the chicco was so much lighter. I have only ever had experience with chicco even with my younger siblings who are 5 and 11 now. So that’s just me.

This is an amazing price for an amazing carseat! The cheapest I have ever seen one was $134 on clearance at Target where someone had purchased online and returned it. That is until today! We need a 2nd base for a new baby coming in September, but for the price, we opted to buy this vs a base for $85 (cheapest I have found it with registry discounts is $72). Btw, we have used this car seat for both of our boys, ages 2 & 5…absolutely wouldn’t use anything else!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Thanks for such a helpful review Brittany! Good to know!

Their bike trade in starts today! 25% off a regular price bike when you trade in.

      Oh cool! Thanks for sharing!

I like the car seat. I have one of the zip ones. But my 2 month old hates it. She screams and sweats in it so bad. The padding on the straps is so puffy. But it’s nice. I do like that the canopy covers a lot more than a regular car seat. Just wish my baby liked it more.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Sorry to hear she does not care for it. 🙁 Thanks for the feedback!

    • Brie

I also have the magic and I love it! The car seat is great and the sun shade is amazing. But you’re right the strap cushions are huge and we removed the pretty early on because they were so annoying.

Thanks! I had $75 in gift cards from my baby shower, and wanted to get another car seat so my husband can have one for his car, as well. This worked out perfectly!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Perfect! So glad you could snag the deal!

    • Brittany Lee

That’s perfect! Worked out super good!

I just found out I’m having another baby in December and I just gave away our infant carseat. I learned this time it’s sometimes easier and cheaper to buy on Craigslist so that’s what I’m doing now.

    • Nikole

Please be careful buying used carseats if they have ever been in an accident they wouldn’t besafe and you can’t tell by looking at it nor trust people to tell you the truth

  10. Puchi

I know this post is for chico, but I just want to share my story about car seat.

I just had a bad accident. My car got t-boned (0% my fault), pushed into other car and turn over on passenger side and then slide down on the road for little bit.

I got injured but my kids(5 and 2 years old) were secure and tight on car seat. And car seat attached in car well. Kids made out car no scratch, no head or neck injury and no pain . I used britax brand car seat. I totally recommend britax brand.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Hoping you are on the mend soon! And so glad the kids were ok! Good to know that the Britax brand kept them safe! Thanks so much for sharing your story!

I know this car seat says till 30 lbs but how long can a baby use an infant seat? Wondering if I should chance buying it for a baby we are adopting that we don’t know how many months old he is, but will be under 1 year. Thanks!

    • Austin

It depends. Some babies stay in their infant seats until after one year, some babies grow out of them at six months. For example, my son is 8 months and loves to eat and is a big healthy boy. He’s about to grow out of this seat. I would say with boys, they tend to get bigger, faster. If you were adopting a newborn (under 3 months), I would say definitely get this seat. If the baby will be older, I’d consider getting a convertible seat instead. You’re going to use the convertible for much longer.

      Also, congrats on the adoption!

      • Natalie

So true. My daughter was a preemie and stayed in hers until 15 months. But my friend had a preemie boy the same size at birth, and he has outgrown his infant seat at 8 months.
(Not sure which brand though) I loooove Chicco, we have the Nextfit convertible seat now which I would highly recommend. It’s pricey but worth it.

My daughter got the Chicco Urban stroller and it says it needs the chicco keyfit carseat if you want to make it intp the travel system.

Does anyone know if this chicco keyfit 30 is the same thing as a chicco keyfit?

    • Kelly

      Yes, it’s the same

  13. Kelly

I love this car seat! I used a different brand for my first 3 babies and disliked everything about the carrier, so much so that I stopped using it for them at 6 months and switched to a permanent back facing seat. My friends with the Chicco Keyfit thought I was crazy, so when my prior seat expired, I bout the Keyfit. I am so impressed and happy with this. It is SO MUCH easier to install the base and carry, and my infant seemed a lot safer because it sat more reclined. Now even with the baby at 20 lbs, it’s not bad to carry. I previously chose a seat solely on the weight of it, and I regret doing that. I would highly recommend it!

  14. Nikole

Does anyone know if this will click into a graco stroller? I have a single for my daughter and a graco double stroller one carseat duo and need another infant carseat that will fit in it for my twins this summer

    • Erika

No it will not be compatible.

  15. LEAH

I also have this carseat it is a great deal. As for the stroller compatibility, please keep in mind many stores, especially babies r’ us will sell conversion kits for carseats to safely fit into your stroller that may be of a different brand 🙂
