Green Turtle Locations in MD are offering a free entree up to $12 for teachers. Dine-in only. BWI location not included.

    • Jennifer

Also applies to NoVA locations! Thank you so much. 😀

  2. Lindsay

What about nurses? Its great that they do all these things for teachers but its a shame no one does anything for nurses week that is this week also!

    • Stephanie

Nurses week doesnt start until Friday–the day Teacher Appreciation week ends. They usually always have deals for Nurses as well! (My mother in law is a nurse and always gets free food the entire week of it at local places). Its easy to say “good for them but what about ____”. In reality a LOT of careers go unrecognized and yet most people arent saying “what about me”

      • hahn

        Well said Stephanie!

    • Melloddie

You should ask stores /restaurants. Lots of places don’t advertise, but there are quite a few restaurants and stores by me that offers 10-15% discounts for Healthcare employees. My husbands in Healthcare so he gets the discount at some places when he grabs lunch. Most places are nice enough when they see a Healthcare worker in uniform, they will tell them otherwise doesn’t hurt to ask. 😊

    • art

      It’s May 6-12, Scooter, chill.

    • Unknown

Stop being bitter (intitled) that you’re not getting freebies or deals be happy they’re even doing this.
FYI they do give freebies and deals for nurses as well. *face palm

    • Stacey

Not sure if you have a Wich Wich near you but mine in the Cincinnati area is offering teachers and medical professionals May1-8, $4 Wich sandwiches.

    • jennifer

without teachers there would be no nurses. Just saying lol

      • hahn

Lol yes yes so very true but yet we will never make as much as half the careers that come from our teaching! It’s a good thing I don’t do it for the money or the week of appreciation! 😉

  3. Liz Ob

I’m going to have my son and his friend from school make cupcakes for their teacher and the principal and bring in coffee for them. The principal loves teaching and even taught in each class these last couple weeks at the elementary school.

    • Melloddie

That’s sweet. I’m having my little ones hand make some cards today and packing them some of the Lindt chocolates got from the deals here last 2 weeks. I hope it’s enough for the cluster teachers and aides as well ohhhh… And be great to not forget about the crossing guards 😊

  4. Melissa J.

I wish they offered these types of specials/appreciations for Librarians too. We educate just as much and sometimes more so then teachers too. 🙁

    • Unknown

I highly doubt more then teachers but be happy that at least they do this.

    • brendaw

Most say school id. If you work in education, they will honor your id in my experience. I’m a special ed para and never have a problem.

    • Dani

I’d be wary of saying librarians teach MORE than teachers…but if you have a school ID that says staff, I’m sure you could get the deals.

    • Savannah

Ouch. Why the need to compete? I am grateful for our school’s librarians, and I hope they are grateful for us teachers, too. If we can’t support one another, how can we expect the “outsiders” to? Anyhow, I hope you enjoy some good deals this week. And I thank you for all you do!

    • AStew

I agree that librarians should get the deals too, and you probably would by showing your ID. I however am not seeing how a librarian educates more than teachers! That is a very bold statement for sure. I respect the librarians at our schools, but I don’t know about all that.

      • Beth

In most states it is required for a librarian to hold a minimum of a master’s degree. They are also certified teachers. Librarians in most schools are required to teach the same amount of classes as a general education teacher; and often planning for multiple grade levels every day. Librarians are not the shushers of days gone by. In addition to being held to the same professional and teaching standards, they have their own objectives to cover. This does not include managing a library collection, circulation, or the business side of being a librarian. It is like having 2 full time job descriptions. Throw in maintaing displays, creating the school’s newsletters, video stream, organizing the school wide field trips, and on and on and on. Librarians are teachers….and a hell of a lot more.

        • Courtenay

Thanks, Beth! I’m a school librarian and we are teachers. Teachers who also manage a library. Everything a classroom teacher has to do to get certified to teach is what we have to do. Our teaching certificate looks no different than a classroom teacher’s certificate.

  5. Mary

What do you all get for your teachers? I have twins that are in a daycare Montessori and have 4 teachers/day caregivers. What is reasonable? I want to get them gift cards but don’t know how much since I’m giving for 2 children. Any advice would be appreciated!

    • mel

I think $10 each is enough!

      • I. E.

Teacher here! I never expected anything, but it sure is nice to feel appreciated. $5 Starbucks would be more than enough for me, really. Ever more special is getting notes from former students letting me know that I made a difference.

    • Crystal

$3-5 gifts are fine. As an educator any gift is a blessing.

  6. Mg05

PDQ is having a free meal for teacher with an ID tomorrow 5/3. They have an option between sandwich, tenders or nuggets.

  7. Rose

I had my kiddos make cards from scratch and put gift cards for them inside 😀

  8. Sarah

Foodlion has 5% discount for teachers 5/3 only

  9. momof6

These usually include homeschool teachers, too. If you’re a member of hslda you should have a teachers card.

  10. Sandy

I was wondering how I would get a homeschool idea is that something I would just print on my own?

    • Melanie

Yes, you can print one on your own. I just printed one from the Homeschool Buyers Co-op website. It looks good!

  11. Nurse

It’s nurses week too ya know 🙁

    • Jessica

Calm down, not yet. Starts on Friday, May 6th.

    • Unknown

Why the sad face be happy that teachers get appreciated. Without them you wouldn’t be a nurse.

  12. Jordan is having a 10% off sale from May 3-4th for Teacher Appreciation Week. Most sellers also have an additional 20% off thier stores for a total of 28% off.
    Use code: CELEBRATE

  13. Kim Rodriguez

McDonalds – free McCafe beverage Tuesday May 3rd
Peter Piper Pizza – free medium pizza Tuesday May 3rd
    I’m in AZ.

    • Melissa

I’m in AZ too and went by McDonald’s today and asked if they were doing anything this year and they said no. Maybe it’s just certain locations?

  14. Jessica

Thank you teachers for all that you do!! Hopefully you can enjoy your freebies and discounts this week without too much complaint from some of the nurses wondering why they aren’t getting deals too!

    • Unknown

      Amen Jessica!

  15. gwenn

FYI for anyone looking for an inexpensive gift for their kid’s teacher(s), Ross had the soap and lotion set with carrier for around $6-10 depending on the size. I printed the “Hand Down Best Teach Ever” printable from the Hip2Save post and plan on giving them to my daughter’s 2 pre-school teachers tomorrow. I couldn’t find the soap/lotion with carrier at Bath & Body Works, but the ones that Ross had was very cute and expensive looking. I wish they had another set for me 🙂

  16. Sue

Ihops in Spokane,WA aren’t participating so make sure you call and check in your area.

  17. Kelly

My kids school sends home specific food/drink they like as well as restaurants and stores they like. Makes it real easy for parents to get gifts.

  18. Wendi

I received an email stating that Big Y Supermarket is giving a gold coin to teachers tomorrow if you let them know your status as a teacher and are a member of their silver savings club 😊

  19. T

Our teacher is retiring this year, any idea for the gift from whole class?

    • Katie

Get kids photos and make a memory photo book with sayings under their picture. Then have them sign it as well.

    • kelly c.

all white plate with a thank you note written in the middle & each kids thumb print & name under the thumb

    • M

My first year teaching my class got me a camping chair that they all signed with silver sharpie. I still have it and use it all the time!

  20. Cari

I’m a speech teacher, so I usually don’t get anything from my students (not that I’m complaining!). But this year one of my students made me a card saying how thankful he was for helping him work on his “s” sound- meant the world to me!!

  21. Patty

I Hop does not give anything for educator.
