Add a Second Number to Your Smartphone Completely FREE with the Sideline App!
Have you ever wanted to add a second number to your smartphone for work OR just to keep your personal phone number private? If so, you’ll definitely want to download the FREE Sideline App (available on iTunes or Google Play)! The highly rated Sideline App puts your work and personal numbers together on a single device BUT keeps them separate in every other way!
With the FREE Sideline App (for individuals), you’re able to choose a local area code and add a 2nd number to your smartphone, all while using your carrier’s network and minutes. Plus, texting is FREE and unlimited if your current plan includes this feature. This app would definitely come in handy when filling out all those mail-in rebate forms! π
AND, the Sideline App also includes number porting which lets you transfer an existing work number from another device or landline. Plus, you will also get separate caller ID, notifications and ringtones to let you know who’s contacting your Sideline. How convenient is that!?
Thank you! This is perfect timing.
Awesome! You’re so welcome!
for all those who are skeptical, great app. works great for calls and text. calls will come in on caller id as “sideline call”.
Oh cool! Thanks for the feedback Andrew! Good to know!
Love this app! Have been using it for a few months now. You can pick and choose from a variety of phone numbers that look local to your state area code. Definitely recommend it.
Sweet! Thanks for sharing Nikki!
I have my current number with a plan that has no text plan. If i get Sideline and add another number, will I be able to use texts with that? Still not needing to pay for texts?
Hmm, texting is only Free if your current plan includes this feature. Hope that helps!
I have extra number from Google and always give out when filling out junk email. I think it only works with android.
It works with iPhone too. I’ve had it for years. I don’t like that if I receive a call I cannot tell which phone line it is coming from.
I just give my old landline -why would anyone give their real number?
We do the same thing. It’s easy because it’s a number you already remember.
If the landline is disconnected and reassigned, someone’s getting lots of telemarketing calls. Inactive numbers are usually reassigned after 3 months to 1 year.
I’m slightly confused. I have a cell phone and a landline. Can I add my landline to my cell phone so if a call is coming through on my landline I can answer it on my cell phone via this ap?
Anybody???
I wonder about this too! It would be great! I love a landline to check on kids and in case there’s an emergency cuz my cellphones always dead at the wrong times, sadly!
No this is if you want a second new number on your cell phone. I’d recommend google voice if you want to add your landline to your cellphone
I’ve been using one of these types of apps for years! At least 6 years for sure. They’re nice to have.
Awesome to hear that Jenn! Thanks for sharing your experience!
We downloaded sideline on my husband’s phone a few weeks ago. It’s great for texts and incoming calls, but it won’t make outgoing calls. We’ve talked to customer service and they said there’s some bug that they need to fix. So we can’t make calls from that line until sideline figures it out.
Oh bummer! Sorry to hear that Katie! Hope they get it fixed soon!
This can never overshadow the power of google voice
I agree!!! Love my google voice #!!
Great app. I have been using for last year. Line has it’s own voice mail too. I use when filling out coupons and online shopping βΊ
Cool! Thanks for sharing your experience!
Can you port that number to another cell later?
I am not certain, but you could contact them to be sure support@sideline.com
Is it a one time fee only (today for free) or do you have to pay $2.99 monthly after today’s download?
Ok… never mind… I see it now! π
It is free π
Definitely want to try this out with my business cell phone. Hate paying $25 a month for an extra phone line lol.
Thanks for the info π
If this all works out and the number gets ported correctly (and I get my other line taken off my phone line)… I’ll save $300 a year on my cellphone bill.
FYI you can also use google voice for free #, voicemail, call forwarding etc
Been using it for years and works like a charm. Rejecting a call on my cell (aggravating robocalls!!) sends it straight to the spam folder in google voice. Then the next time same caller calls you….they get the line is disconnected message!! Love love it!
Unfortunately, Sideline is no longer free, and charges $10/mo. Still cheaper than buying a second line, but is no Google Voice.
Is there any way I can contact a sideline # without having to download and pay for a sideline app # myself ?
