Does anyone have these & know how good they are? I’ve never had front loading (I’m still using the ole fashion top loading) & this seems like a good deal (hopefully not too good to be true…)

I have had them for 3 years. They still work fine with the exception of the drum making a loud noise when the washer is too full or empty (I can’t remember which haha). I thought maybe it was breaking but my husband knows an appliance repairman who said it’s not. The thing I don’t like about this washer is that the front area catches baby socks. So if you have a baby you might consider that. You also have to remember to leave the washer open so that front area doesn’t get mold. There’s a little hook to keep it open without having it wide open.

Put the baby socks in a lingerie bag. You can get a pack of 3 at the Dollar Tree. That is what I do. Saves time searching for them too. Merry Christmas!

I don’t have these exact machines but I do have a front load set from LG and wouldn’t buy a front load set again. My biggest complaints: 1) as others have mentioned, the washer has to be left open or it smells. 2) when you pull the clothes out stuff always falls on the floor, both washer and dryer because you don’t have the dryer door to catch stuff so you have to use a basket for all transfers even though the machines are right next to each other 3) my lint screen catches clothes and rips them apart but that is an LG issue to my specific model I understand. My 2 cents. 🙂

I have these exact ones and absolutely love them. Never had an issue with mild or anything.

So do I but I paid 649 each I think I couldn’t wait till Black Friday 😩😩and I like them !! Good tip on the socks Sarah

I have these! I hate how nasty the front loaders get even tho I leave the door open. No much nastiness gets under the rubber between the door and the drum. No matter how much i clean it- it still gets like a nasty mildew. Then after about 5 months the wording started rubbing off on the selections. I hate front loaders 🙁

    • Angie

Yeah…front leaders are terrible. I recently switched from my front loader to a top one. So much happier! No mold and I don’t have to leave the door open anymore. They have come so far with top leading technology. I will never go back to a front loader!

      • Kortney

Which model did you get? I have found my top load washer to be very noisy.

        • rob

We had to replace our washer a couple years ago & the top loader we got is really quiet, it was bad timing financially so we got an inexpensive model, it’s a whirlpool. Hth

    • dealgirl

      Do you leave yours open?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh bummer 🙁 Sorry to hear about that! Thanks so much for the honest feedback!

I have had my front loader for over 7 years and for the majority of that time I have used vinegar in the fabric softener section. Never had any problems with mildew or mold or smells and because of where my washer is, I cannot leave the door open. Vinegar is amazing!!

      • Carmen

Vinegar with every load ?? Thanks

We don’t have front loaders, but did a lot of research and spoke to some front loader owners before choosing our washer and dryer. In the $1500 range, we found the best ones are Speed Queen. They are the old fashioned kind. The washer even has the agitator that goes up to the top and the washer actually fills all the way up! Clothes are clean and the dryer dries a load of towels in 40 minutes. They are laundrymat quality. The front loaders look nicer, more modern, but our washer and dryer are in a closet.

Thanks for the info! We don’t have front load, but bought the water saver (I think most are now?). I want it to DIE!!
I have comforters I’ve always washed that now come out with parts that are BONE DRY! I wash every load 2 and 3 times!!
Wish I had my old washer back!
Also, where did all the strainer/lint catchers go in the washing machines???
I rescue cats, hence my need to wash comforters often, and all the hair stays on in the wash!!!
(I did figure out that adding extra dryer sheets in the dryer helps.)

Wow, lots of GREAT INFO!! Thank you all for sharing your valuable opinions it means so much more to me than reading some info on the internet from the manufacturers! (HA 😜)
Merry Christmas & Happy Hanukkah to you all❣

I have these similar Kenmore models from 11 years ago and I love them. No problems what so ever. My rubber seal has never had mold, and I leave it closed. Mine are stacked and next to my bedroom; no issue with noise. I’d buy them again!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Awesome! Glad to hear that you have not had any issues with yours Linda! Thanks so much for sharing your experience!

I have front loader set that I got from Sears many years ago and I just leave the door open after washing. Also make sure you remove and clean the removable soap dispenser area regularly (mine is removable).

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Oh cool! Thanks so much for the helpful tip April!

  7. Kiwi

I also will chime in that I own a front loading washer and dislike it! Ready for it to die and get a top loader.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Darn! Thanks for the honest review!

  8. Lory

Hmm, I wonder if it matters WHERE you live (as in the climate it would be in) I live in Florida so I don’t usually have a problem with mold, however like I said before I’ve never owned this type of washer & dryer. ( mine are in the garage)

I have this set, have owned it about 5 years. Both are still working properly. However, the gasket on the front load washer is full of mold and mildew. I have tried cleaners, went by the book to leave the door open, dry it out with a towel, use a teaspoon of detergent, don’t use softener etc. Nothing helps. The gasket has already had to be replaced once, and is going to have to be again, or we need to get a new one. My next purchase will not be a front loader washer. I have to add vineger to the wash regularly so our clothes don’t smell. A front loader is by far one of the most uneducated, wrong decision I have made purchasing a large appliance! Do your homework, skip the work, and regret, and go with a traditional top loader.

The house we moved into had a GE set of front loader washer and dryer. The older models front loaders really have the mold and smell issues (8-10 years old) but now the technology is better. My new set from Samsung (an Hip2save alert) is much better and has an auto clean function. I read the manual and figured out the correct soap amounts etc and their recommendations to keep washer clean. So far I’m very happy & the set we purchased had great reviews and was 50% off! HTH

    • Lory

Wow, thank you for letting me know! Honest reviews by someone who actually owns & uses a product means the world to me!!!
Hope you & yours have a very Merry Christmas/ Happy Hanukkah

I will NEVER again buy another appliance from Sears. I bought a refrigerator from Sears when i moved into my new home. There was a 1 year manufacturer warranty on the appliance. My ice maker started malfunctioning 11 months after the purchase. I called the repair line but the first available appointment was 2 months out. When it was time for my repair appointment I was informed that I would be responsible for the $450 repair because the warranty was no longer active. long store short: after 3 additional months, 10 phone calls to the corporate office, 2 rescheduled appointments (because the tech never showed) and a threat to contact the BBB and they finally agreed to repair my ice maker. I promise you, they have the WORST customer service EVER!!! Purchase your appliances somewhere else. I promise you, no matter how cheap this washer is, it is not worth the headache Sears will give you

I always feel a need to throw my opinion in when this discussion arises on front loaded vs top loaders. I had top loaders for years (Kenmore), 3 loads a day, 6 days a week, big family. They were terrific. About 5 years ago I updated to Samsung front loaders. My first few loads, I used the recommended liquid detergent. I had brand new towels, never previously washed. After two-three washings they reeked with a mildew type smell that I could not get out, even hanging several days outside on my clothesline. After suggestions from others, I changed to Tide granular, fragrance-free, and have never had another problem. (I presume any granular would work). I use a little less than 1/4 C. I do always leave the door open and the soap drawer open until they are totally dry, usually overnight. I also most always wash in hot water. I’m completely happy with my front loaders after 5 years, no mold smell whatsoever. After internet research, I read the tallow in liquid detergent causes the mildew smell in clothes.

we bought this set brand new from Sears canada June 2 2014, my washer has caused a smell on my clothing from day one, no amount of cleaning, bleach, vinegar, or cleaners have changed this, trust me I have tried everything. Also during the spin cycle it sounded like a plane taking off, a plane that has turbo twin engines. Then on sunday Sept 20th 2020, she stopped… tried several things to get her going, but nothing, the last time I did a load that was set for 39 minutes it took from 6:05 am to 7:38 am to finish and when I opened the door the close were sopping wet and yes.. smelly. so goodbye stinky, noisy, piece of crap washer!!!
