The Tinkle razor is my favorite beauty tool! 😍

Don’t let the silly name fool you – this thing is ALL business! 🙌 If you deal with unwanted facial peach fuzz, random black hairs every other day, or just want smoother skin overall, you’re going to love this product too! In fact, I’ve been using it for over 2.5 years and I’m so excited to tell you all about it!

The Tinkle razor is a single blade razor that you can use to dermaplane your skin at home!

What is dermaplaning? 🤔

Dermaplaning is a skin care treatment that removes dead skin cells and even better it removes the vellus hairs (AKA “peach fuzz”) which is notorious for also trapping dirt and oils.

When done correctly, dermaplaning is also a safe and effective way to exfoliate your face. In turn, this allows for more flawless makeup applications, reducing the appearance of acne scars, and makes skin look and feel smoother than ever!

In a nutshell, it’s essentially shaving your face. 😳

Please note: If you have skin concerns or have had skin issues in the past, please consult with your dermatologist before trying dermaplaning on your own. This product and process have worked well for many of us at Hip2Save, though may not be suitable for all skin types.

Now let’s get back to how awesome these Tinkle Razors are! 😍

grandparents posing for photo

Bless my grandmother and her fuzzy little face! Through genetics, I not only got her good looks but unfortunately, her peach fuzz too. And I’ve gotta say…I’m not super fond of having peach fuzz (nor are many of the other women I know) so when I learned about the Tinkle Razor, I was quite excited to give it a try! 🤩

The Tinkle Razor is SUPER easy to use and costs right around $3 for a THREE PACK on Amazon! 😱

woman using Tinkle razor on face

I’ve been using mine for almost 2.5 years and I love it so much! As I already mentioned, I really don’t like living with peach fuzz and this thing does just the trick for getting rid of it! Plus, my skin looks so much smoother and my makeup goes on much easier.

To use the Tinkle Razor for dermaplaning at home, here are the steps to follow:

  • Start with clean, dry skin.
  • Apply a facial oil for a smoother experience. (optional)
  • Hold the Tinkle Razor at a 45 degree angle.
  • Using gentle motions scrape the dead skin and peach fuzz off your face.

It’s truly that easy! 🙌

You may have to play around with the direction and angle you are holding the blade until you get a feel for it. However, when you are doing it properly, you will see the hairs and dead skin on the blade to know you’re doing it right.

Here’s what my Hip sidekick, Emily said about her Tinkle Razor experience:

woman smiling holding up blue razor on forehead

“I love the Tinkle razors! They make my skin sooo smooth by getting rid of all the tiny hairs and dead skin cells which helps both my skincare products and makeup go on my face with ease! I also feel like it helps my skincare soak in better which is a major bonus!

It’s completely painless and I’ve never experienced my hair growing in thicker or darker as some people may think. I use mine every 3-4 weeks and the razors last a long time with proper cleaning. I just sterilize the blade with rubbing alcohol and let it dry before storing it away.

I also recommend using a facial oil to help the blade glide over the skin and avoid any risk of cutting or razor burn. Any skin facial oil will do, but I would recommend not using a super expensive one since it basically just gets scraped off. My process is to wash my face, apply the oil in sections and shave, rinse everything off once I’m done, and apply my skincare. I think it’s best to do this at night since the skin can sometimes get a little red after shaving.”

Worried about your hair growing back?

Vellus hairs or “peach fuzz” does not grow back thicker and darker. As long as the hair is superficial vellus hair, it will grow back at the same rate and texture as before. As I mentioned a couple of times already, I’ve been using the Tinkle for over 2.5 years and when the hair starts to grow back, mine is still blonde and typical peach fuzz texture.

As many Hip2Save readers have mentioned, if you experience unusual thick and dark hair growth, it could be an indicator of a hormonal imbalance. Of course, if you have any concerns, we always recommend consulting with your doctor first as we are not medical professionals.

P.S…If you decide to give the Tinkle Razor a try, make sure that you purchase a Tinkle and not a Twinkle. Apparently, they are a knockoff, and you don’t want to get the wrong one! 😉

And no, this is not a sponsored post – I just love my Tinkle! 😍

Been using Tinkles for years! Love them! Keep one in your purse so when you flip down your mirror in the car and realize your “mustache” is all of a sudden large and in charge!

    • Jennifer

One in the car, one in the little pocket in my purse, and one in the bathroom drawer👍🏼

  2. teach4

How often do you need to use it?

    • Amy L.

Some do it once a week. I always do mine on the 1st of the month.

  3. sue

I’m more of a plucker myself. But, I can see how this could be useful. For regular users, does using this make you fuzz grow in faster??

    • lauratucker

I’ve been doing it for over a year and it doesn’t grow thicker or quicker. And I don’t do it very often like once every other week.

    • Amy

Shaving doesn’t make your hair grow back faster or thicker period. That is a big myth 😊

      • C

Amy- I disagree- it’s different for everyone- my hair that has been shaved on my legs and armpits is both thicker and darker than it ever was (and is both thicker and darker than places that have never been shaved, like my arms (I’m talking blonde versus dark brown and a peach fuzz consistency vs thick)… albeit for some reason my thighs don’t follow this trend)… when you shave it is a potential that it comes back thicker and darker (also one of my friends who was in an accident and had brain surgery had her entire head shaved by doctors, her hair grew back thicker (maybe slightly darker- her hair was already pretty dark))…. so if your hair doesn’t come back thicker and darker, you are lucky!

        • vanessa

It’s an old wives tale that hair grows back thicker and darker. There’s no logic to this. If someone shaves their head, it may “appear” to grow in thicker and darker because it is all the same length and against presumably light skin and has also not been exposed to sunlight, products, or environmental elements.

        • Shelly

The reason it looks thicker and darker is because after you shave, the end of the hair is cut flat so in a sense it is thicker than a narrow end. Over time it thins back out. It is a temporary thicker hair look.

  4. Lori

I’m also a plucker but I’m gonna give this a try. Looks so easy. Thank you so much for this post!

  5. Jennifer

I bought some of these a few months ago when I saw a good deal on Amazon after remembering the post on Hip2save from last year. I really love these. I do have peach fuzz, almost like fuzzy little sideburns, and this easily removes them. I don’t have to use it again for a couple weeks or so because it comes back fuzzy so it’s not like shaving your legs where you have to rigidly stay on top of it. I also use it for tiny hairs around my lips and I use them if I have stray hairs around my eyebrows. I have hairs that grow at the end of my eyebrows almost to my hairline! Yes, I am a werewolf😂

    • Jenn

I am a werewolf as well! lol My name also happens to be Jennifer. I have always been told I was born with fuzz and it never went away like with most babies 🤣🤣 Having dark hair just makes it worse. The hair on my face where my side burn area and down is has never bothered me until recently when I started seeing women say they took that off.

    • Liz

Hi my name is Liz, and I am also a werewolf. 😂

    • Angie

      You’re not alone

  6. PrincessMom

Oh my gosh, same here! lol

    • Cheri

Yep! It made me think about which month we are in!

  7. marissa31

These are great at first, but have found give me horrible blemishes and tons of ingrown hairs, both from thicker hair and the small peach fuzz. I end up with clogged pores all along my jawline, and have been left with some scaring on my cheeks from the tiny peach fuzz that struggled to regrow. All skin is different. If you are prone to adult acne, you may want to reconsider.

    • tracy

I agree… I actually love dermaplaning but I need to be very careful . I’m in my late forties and still prone to occasional acne etc. if I’m too over zealous when doing this, I will breakout. I find that it’s still worth it for me to do periodically though.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh darn! Thanks so much for the helpful warning and for sharing your experience with us. We sure appreciate it!

    • a

Yes i have tried this and would caution to research first or ask a dermatologist first like the post says since this can aggravate those that are acne-prone. I do love using these for eyebrows though!

    • Tessa Fulmer

Yes, as an esthetician of 20 years, who does not offer dermaplaning(so no gains here), this can be a terrible idea for some. I cannot tell you how many clients I have had to do “rescue missions” after using these. Allergic type reactions, and horrible acne. If you are even thinking about doing it, try a test patch.

      • Eve

I 100% agree, I started dermaplaning and was wondering why my once crystal clear skin started braking out all along my jaw line, I mean huge bumps on my neck & face it was a mess 😩and I NEVER broke out or had acne before, I thought it was hormonal or I was starting to get adult acne, but when I stopped dermaplaning it all cleared up, now I just get wax beads and wax my face instead, I almost want to shave the peach fuzz off sometimes just because it’s a lot more convenient but the thought of my skin going back to having those huge bumps on isn’t worth it, i was even left with 2 scars on my face from 2 of the bumps, Never again lol!!!

    • Jenn

Thank you!! The hair never bothered me until I started seeing that people got rid of it. This makes me rethink even trying. I have sensitive skin and have a hard time when eve shaving my legs and other…areas. I have also been fighting hormonal acne since around June/July of last year. So this makes me not want to even try. You saved me tears!

    • Jenny

I’m so glad I’m not alone!!!!. I keep getting ingrown Hairs and now it looks like scarring down my neck And jawline. I now have these super dry patches and looks awful. So disappointed. I would have never tried them if I thought this was gonna happen😳

      • Kathleen

I’ve also been having the ingrown hairs/ big bumps, and some mild scars along the jawline/neck area 😥

  8. ashdlop

Has any one used this in place of getting brow and lip waxing?

    • Amy L.

I have. Also, where I went for brow waxing would use this on my forehead just to eliminate any visible sign of a new wax. I also feel like I’m getting better results with my skincare too because it is being applied directly to the skin without the fine hairs being in the way.

    • jackiehaynesreynolds

I use on my entire face. Lip and brow too. You may want a smaller one for under your brow as it is hard to get what you need to with the larger blade.

  9. S

I bought these the first time you posted it and LOVE them!!! 100 stars. I am very light skinned with baby fine hair, but after two kids I felt like I had alot of it. This is amazing! I use it once a week. My face is smooth and have never had a problem. If you have any facial hair get this. Makes a huge difference. You will use less products on your face and it feels great!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh wow! Happy to hear how great these have been for your skin, S! Thanks a bunch for taking a moment to comment!

  10. Jill

I don’t use that kind but I love doing my own derma planning. My face feels sooo amazing afterwards

  11. Sunflower

I love this product. I use this around my upper lip about every other month. About twice a year I have to literally use it on my entire face. I use this in between my 10 weeks laser on my chin and upper neck. I have acne-prone skin. I have to layer my skin with coconut or olive oil first. If I don’t I will itch all day.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh cool! Thanks for the helpful tip on the coconut or olive oil!

  12. Laurie Villotta

I have dark coarse black hair on my jawline and under chin. From what I am reading. I do not think this would be for me.

  13. Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for sharing, Josie! I also find a few different purchase options for these through the link above. Hope that helps!

  14. Be careful

If you haven’t done this before do your research.
I follow someone on IG that did it and now has permanent problems because of it. She has cysts all over her face that she has to pay thousands to correct. It sounds like she will always have this.
Just look at the side effects before jumping on this!

  15. RK

I had barely visible hair on my face. The I tried something like this and I have developed ingrown hair and cysts all over my face. May not be the case with others. But be careful, better try it on a small area on your face for few days before using it on your full face.

  16. Be careful

If you have Instagram go look at bluebird kisses. Under her highlights under “skincare” read about her experience.

  17. Michelle

I have some light peach fuzz and these work great. I use it every couple of weeks or so (when I remember.) Caveat: These are razors and you can still cut yourself (I cut my chin.) Best practice is to keep the blade moving downward (easy to do on the cheeks.) More caution is needed on the jaw and under the neck, if you have to sweep upward.

Found three on ebay super cheap (cheapier than Amazon!) Have to wait a little longer, because they are from China.

  18. a

I like using these types of razors to get the fine hairs underneath my eyebrows and between them. For dermplaning – not so much since I am acne prone and find that the process aggravates my skin. Try watching some videos on YouTube to see if it’s for you.

  19. Mcall26

Love these. I have such sensitive skin, tweezing left me red, waxes I’ve tried have left me with a mustache of zits in place of the little hairs, I even tried nair, the smell would make me gag. I am very pleased with these! I find it really helps a lot for me to use it right out of the shower.

  20. Anne

Please be careful using these for dermaplaning. Like micro-needling, there are some things better left to professionals! These are great for eyebrow and lip hair removal, but I wouldn’t want to risk trying my whole face. Like others have said, it can lead to ingrown hairs, cysts, and increased acne. If you have any existing acne or open cuts, you shouldn’t do this because it can spread infection (and acne) around to more parts of your face.

    • a

I’d try eyebrows or lip hair before doing a full face if you think you might be acne prone or sensitive.

  21. a

It would just be maintenance to keep up with. You could stop and choose to let it grow out.

    • Su

Growout omg she would have had a beard.
My poor mother had black stubble if she missed a day.

Interestingly enough she didn’t have much hair on her legs, however her face was a daily problem.

  22. Sarah Wheeler

When I was studying Anatomy in college, we were doing a skin unit and discussed that men often have younger looking skin than women of the same age because they regularly shave, increasing their skin cell turn over. So I’m always intrigued by dermaplaning and a little scared because of my sensitive skin. I use that Finishing Touch shaver and it also takes down those freaky wild hairs.

    • Jessica

Yes! I have one finishing touch pen size shaver in purse and one at home. I too only have peach fuzz but I hate the look of it. So much safer and dead skin still comes off a bit.

  23. Holli Henderson

I have them too. And they are awesome

  24. Suzanne

I have been using tinkle wands for about 5 years and I tell everyone about them. I love them! I didn’t think I was that hairy until I was in a field trip with friends and one of them was using it and we got to talking about it and she said let me show you. Oh my gosh, I was so embarrassed by all the peach fuzz that came off the sides of my face. I get regular long black hairs that grow under my chin and I still pluck those but I use a wand every month or so to get my mustache and peach fuzz. Occasionally, I’ll be itchy for a little bit after and get a couple zits. But it’s totally worth it. I love the coconut oil idea. I’m totally going to try it! I’m not high maintenance at all but really feel this is a staple for me. My dear grandma was also hairy and after my grandpa died, she used his electric razor everyday. 😂

  25. Scared and Hairy

I’m scared. I made the stupid decision to shave my chin when I was pregnant. I only had 2 black hairs that kept growing back and I chose to shave. Biggest regret ever….I get tons of thick black hairs on my chin now. I have to pluck every other day!!!

    • Tricia

Me too, made that mistake when I was 17 and now at 36 I’m still paying the price. I have to epilate now every few days 🙄

  26. Sara

I think some of you may need to talk to your doctor, thick black hair and cystic acne are not normal, and are usually caused by a hormone imbalance. It should not happen from dermaplaning.
I had problems with both, I was too embarrassed to tell anyone so plucked multiple times a day. Finally, told my doctor and I have an extreme hormone imbalance. I have to take medicine to even it out <3 <3
S/N I love dermaplaning and have had it done monthly/ bimonthly for about 5 years. No increase of facial hair, and skin seems to be less oily overall.

  27. Audra

Even if you don’t use these on your face- they are great for shaving sweaters! I put on a much loved sweater today and noticed that there was piling (I think that’s what it is called) on it. I decided to grab my Tinkle and shave it off. Took a few minutes but it’s amazing how much better it looked!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh cool! Thanks for the helpful tip, Audra!

  28. sue

    Same😂😂

  29. Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Oh darn! Were you able to contact them for a refund or exchange?

  30. Amber (Hip Sidekick)

    Thanks for sharing, Lili S!

  31. JRN

Peach fuzz on your face isn’t bad…its there for a reason. Mainly to protect your skin from harmful bacterias hence why some ended up with acne.
I’d use this for small patches but not your whole face. We have small hairs for a reason. Try your eyebrows but leave the small fuzz. (Derm RN)

    • Clippy

      Long time tinkler here!
I use mostly for mustache hairs, but also under eyebrows.
I also have thick black hair, but have not had any skin issues from using. I sometimes use between brows and chin area, no issues.
I do not use over all my face, just the little hairy areas

  32. Bunny

Recently I dyed my hair at home and discovered I got the dye on my face near my ears. Much to my horror, I discovered large dark patches of hair on my face I never noticed before. So I tried this Tinkle and let me tell you it works. Lots of hair came off…it wasn’t pretty LOL but glad I have discovered a safe way to get rid of it.

    Thanks Hip2Save 🙂

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

What a great idea! Thanks for sharing it with us, Bunny!

  33. Tracey

I got a couple of sets of these when H2S posted about them last year and love them. I have been using Boscia Exfoliating Peel Gel (sometimes Costco has great prices on the gel/cactus water sets). The gel pulls dead skin cells and they tend to stick to my peach fuzz – ugh. So I lightly scrub as much off as possible with a damp washcloth but use the tinkle to remove the rest – works great.

  34. jackiehaynesreynolds

It can cause ingrown hairs. It doesn’t on me, but I use it on my friend and we have to avoid certain areas or she breaks out.

  35. LolaLolita

I have no interest in removing peach fuzz, it’s hardly noticeable for most people, anyway. I do have an awful mustache though, lol. Do you guys recommend this? I used to bleach my mustache, and I do feel like it started getting thicker once I started waxing. I’m nervous to use this, but I would like to get rid of that darn mustache. Unfortunately, my 11 year old has inherited my “upper lip” hair. I’m trying to find the right products to suggest for her without making things worse for her.

    • LolaLolita

(By awful mustache, I don’t mean like one that actually looks like a man’s facial hair. I just mean darker hairs on my upper lip that are not suuuper noticeable, but are somewhat noticeable.)

    • Su

If it’s dark hair and not too thick, I’d bleach it for now until she’s older. That’s what I did, until I started Electrolosis in my late teens.

    • Amie

My daughter had the same problem when she turned 12- we did the bleaching for awhile but it irritated her face and waxing was out of the question she doesn’t like pain. I got her the flawless hair removal- it’s easy for her to use/painless and she only does it when needed. She is 16 now and never had a problem, some of her friends use it too. Good luck!

  36. Su

Be careful you may be about to cause a life long problem.

My mom has to shave her face everyday until the day she passed at 76. If she didn’t she’d have stubble that would itch and be so uncomfortable.

  37. glammy

I have used Twinkle razors for about 5 years and love them! I saw the 3 pack of Twinkle for $1 last week at Dollar Tree!

  38. Laurie Villotta

I have dark coarse hair. I shave everyday. I doubt this would work for me. Anyone else with same issues?

    • Rita

Laurie, yes. I have PCOS and have had to shave my face since I was 30. I wish the Twinkle would work for me but not likely, I use a man’s razor for this mess. I just tell myself that it keeps me younger looking since I’m constantly turning over skin cells. I’m often told that I look much younger so this is probably why.

  39. Pat

Hmm, am I the only one that thinks the name of this product is weird? When I was a kid we used the term tinkle for going to the bathroom.

  40. BeckyReads

Can anyone link to some good youtube videos about using these for brows?

  41. jessica neo

I have been using Tinkles but recently found some bump on my cheeks. Don’t know why that happened.
