How to Grow Lollipop Flowers from Jelly Beans
Looking for a silly Easter/Spring tradition to do with the kids?
Try planting jelly beans, and they just may magically grow into Lollipops overnight! 😃
Well maybe this is just a cute idea found online, but I think it could be super fun for younger kids!
Here’s my indoor version planting jelly beans in a small flower pot and using crumbled brownies for “dirt”. The next morning you can put in some lollipops!
If you’re feeling extra crafty, try twisting and then taping a few paper cupcake liners around the base of a sucker to look like flowers! I think a group of them together look so cute! This could be a fun Spring gift idea or centerpiece too.

LOVE it! 🙂 Too bad my children are 12 1/2! 🙂 It is tooo cute! 🙂
As 12 1/2 year old, I would love this!
Thought it was a pre-April fools joke since Collin likes to pull pranks!!!! LOL
So stinking cute! My kids are too old but I can’t wait to do this with my niece in a few years! I love it!
I seriously can’t wait for Colins april fools pranks!!! Only a few hours left😉
I did this every year on Easter Eve for my daughter when she was young – we called it Easter Magic ….there were some years that I was running to Walgreens in the middle of the night for lollipops!
Oh cute- thanks for sharing!
Can’t fool me. I was born on April 1st and have seen almost all of the tricks. Very cute for sure!!
Super cute idea!!
Thanks so much!
That is an adorable idea !!!!! xo
We plant our magic jelly beans the night before Easter. Then on Easter morning huge colorful lollipops 🍭 have grown! It’s so cute!
That is so cute! Thanks for sharing 👍
So a cute idea, I’m sure my 3 year old will love it!
I do this but I unwrap the lollipops because otherwise my kids would question how they grow already wrapped…and that’s just my 6 year old asking that! Ha! I have them each grow their own in a little pot then the next morning 3 lollipops have appeared! It’s fun to see their reactions!
How fun!
Oh, that’s a good idea. My toddler would probably come up with a question like that!
I kinda wanna do this just so I have an excuse to bake brownies. 🙂
Oh haha!
We have been doing this for 12 years now. My oldest is 17 and the tradition continues. We’ve never had to explain away the wrappers though. But we had to emphasize that this special event can only happen overnight Holy Saturday into Easter Sunday. We had visions of little dirt mounds of jelly beans all through out our lawn and the accompanying ants etc. We also do 3 beans/3 lollipops.
Why am I seeing comments from March 2017?
Because this post is from March 2017
Love all your posts but since the update I keep getting repeats of the same posts 2-3 times a day. Also some of your posts are cutting off and can’t read them. Just wanted to let you know. I know you guys are working on it but wasn’t sure if you were aware of all the glitches. Keep up the good work!
Hi Jackie, I’m SO sorry for the repeats and the posts getting cut off. These issues are two that we are working to correct ASAP! Please be sure to email Collin@Hip2Save.com with any problems you are seeing. Thank you!! 🙂
THanks, love the idea
Haha I love it!!!
So cute!!
Thanks Sarah!
So cute…I think we have found a new tradition at our house for Easter.
How wonderful! 😉 Enjoy.
That is so cute! My 3 year old would keep trying to get outside to eat the jellybeans out of the dirt.
That is a darling idea! Thank you.
We did this tonight, can’t wait to see my son’s face in the AM!
What a great idea! We just planted the jelly beans tonight and I can’t wait to see the look on my daughter’s face tomorrow morning!
Sounds good to me. Going to see if my daughter will do it with my granddaughter.
