Just ordered and with a large family I’m so excited about the price and having so much meat stocked!
I love their quality and the prices, but the delivery in my area has been awful. I’ve order I think 6 times now and all but one have changed times and locations. Last time I ended up getting 80 pounds of meat in a 3 week time span because one order was delayed and pushed closer to the other. I have 3 orders pending right now and all 3 have been changed/delayed.

I love Zaycon’s chicken. It’s SO nice having my freezer full of great-tasting chicken. It is a bit of work when you get it and after all of the liquid and stuff you cut off and throw away, you’re not really getting 40 pounds of chicken… BUT it’s still worth it. I haven’t bought chicken from a grocery store in over 5 years.
How is it packaged when you get it?
I would love to know too. Especially chicken breasts where I hope they’re already trimmed.
My lone order came in large, waxed box. It contained four, 10 pound frozen packages of butterflied breasts inside of a large plastic bag / box liner. I thought mine were trimmed very similar to the bulk breasts that I purchase in grocery stores, not too excessive. I actually left the four 10 pound packages intact and stored them as is in freezer – worked just fine for us. The pickup process went smoothly. And they were delicious. HTH. FROZEN?? :-O Are you sure? they’re supposed to be fresh. last time i ordered (been a while), they were not frozen. Did something recently change?
I placed my first order a few months ago and my chicken breasts were half frozen, too. It was really frustrating, my hands got sooooo cold trying to trim and cut everything for storage
I’ve ordered several times and the chicken breast have never been frozen.–Always fresh. I put them in Ziplock bags and then freeze them.
Basically it is a large box lined with plastic. I cut mine up and put in ziplocks and freeze most of it.
Not trimmed!

The efficiency of the pickup was amazing. Like a drive thru! BUT, I bought these chicken breasts back in October and they were horrible. So tough and stringy, the texture was off on all of them. I don’t know if it was just the suppliers in my area but I can’t recommend the chicken. Plus they were huge. They say no antibiotics, but I didn’t read anything about steroids and I think that contributes to the stringiness ☹️ Hopefully others have better luck because this is a great price if you are willing to take the chance!
Mandy I had the exact same experience as you! I too picked up in October and the texture is super weird! I don’t think I can order again. I can only use the chicken if I shred it.
Agree Mandy! I called and asked about steroids and the company just kept repeating that they are natural with no antibiotics. No chicken is that big!

Agreed. Picked mine up in October and the breast were the size of footballs and so so tough. Came from a farm out of Kansas City I believe. At first I thought I overcooked them. Then tried cooking them many different ways and they were all tough and stringy. I’ve got decades under my belt of cooking and it’s been a long time since I cooked a dry chicken breast, LOL. Worst chicken ever. I ended up giving them to a neighbor who makes her own dog food. Feel sorry for the chickens that are being raised on this farm. I bet most of them end up in the garbage. I called icon to have them re-evaluate this farm and check out what’s going on and was supposed to hear back from them within 48 hours and I’ve heard nothing and it’s been months
In the US hormone and steroid use is prohibited to raise poultry. The reason they are so big is likely because they are “Meat Chickens”, or a Cornish Cross. They are bred to produce meat. Lots of meat. REALLY quickly.
I picked up in October and it’s the same! They are rubbery and tough. Has anyone called to complain?
