I haven’t been a member in two years but still have the app and online account. When I go to do this I keep running into issues with how they word things. I’m a considered a new member and have to create a whole new online account even though that’s my only email or do I try the renew way. This is so confusing as a past member that can do this. I’m stuck. TYIA

Customer service helped me. The renewal problem was linked to my phone number. I was technically a new customer, bit the system wasn’t recognizing that. So they had me change my phone number online to one ending in 9999, then join using the coupon link, then change my number back to the correct one.

Did you use your real first six numbers of your phone number? then 9999 for last four digits?
that is crazy. SAMs should do better. They told me they had disassociated my email and phone number from my expired account and still didn’t work.

Sorry another question. When you say changed your phone number online what do you mean? was that once you linked or before, if so how?
Candie, Sam’s actually did it for me on the phone. The customer service rep changed my phone number for me (just changing the last 4 digits of the phone number to 9999.) Then I clicked through and purchased the membership, then he changed the phone number back for me while we were still on the phone. Maybe you can login and make similar changes online, but calling was pretty easy. I just said that I had been a member in the past, but my membership expired over 6 months ago, and I wanted to re-join using a new member coupon.
