Does this work well? What’s the catch? Thanks!

I have a similar brand, and I love it. The eggs are easier to peel than traditional boiling, but they are perfectly cooked every time. Just plunk eggs in ice water afterwards to stop cooking process and help peeling (I do this no matter which way I hardboil my eggs). While it does shut off automatically, you still want to remove your eggs when it is done, or the eggs will continue to cook while sitting over the hotplate. If this is like mine, it comes with two other little cooking plates to make poached eggs, or “omelets”, which we also use all the time. I loved this device so much I bought one for my brother and best friend!

    Awesome!

I know! Right!? That sure makes clean up much easier!

I have this. I’d say it’s not worth $40, maybe $15. It works well. I’m not sure about the auto shutoff – when it’s done, it beeps until you turn it off – and you should definitely not leave the eggs in there for long after or they will continue to cook.

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Thanks for helpful tip and review! Good to know that you should not leave the eggs in too long!

  7. Beth

I bought one when I went on a diet because eggs are lower calorie with high protein. I was not an egg eater at all before this. But now I have 2 eggs every morning and my husband has 2 also. It’s so handy and I NEVER would’ve thought I’d use this gadget as much as I do. It’s so handy!

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

How neat! Glad this cooker has helped you enjoy eggs more Jen! Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

  9. AMART

This egg cooker is amazing I use mine throughout the week when I’m on the go.

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

SWEET! I bet it is much faster and easier than boiling them on the stove! Thanks for the feedback!

We LOVE a nice soft boiled egg in our Ramen Noodles but peeling them is soooo terrible. Does anyone have experience with using this for soft boiled eggs?

    • Viv

Yes works great. The one I have has a measuring cup that tells you how much water to add if you want soft, medium and hard. As mentioned before definitely take out as soon as timer goes off. Mine has an automatic shut off. Love it.

if you have an instant pot– 5 min high pressure and 5 min npr. Then ice bath. Perfect eggs

    • mel

I do mine 6 mins on low pressure. When the unit beeps, I hit the ‘cancel/keep warm’ button, and let the pressure come down naturally. when the button drops, open and remove with tongs to an ice bath. Super super easy to peel and perfect yellow yolks!

Does anyone know if u still have to pierce the eggs first? I’d love one of these where u just plop the eggs in and cook! 🙂

Showing out of stock on eBay.

    • Holly (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Darn! Thanks for the heads up!

  14. Moni B.

P.S. I understand our InstantPots can hard-boil eggs too! 🙂

  15. jd

In use the Instant Pot. Throw 12-18 eggs in there on the rack, add 1 cup of water, set to ZERO minutes. Let it release naturally, put in fridge. No need to ice bath, easy to peel even if you don’t touch them for a day or two!

  16. Jamyules
