This may kind help: I was primary and my card had expired 2 days before I bought this last time around. I put my son as Primary (he had to go with me to store for photo etc ) and me as secondary without a hitch.
Yes did that a while ago with the secondary on my account. Have to two or three years to open a new account, so I’m now a secondary for next few years 😬
So I can do this deal even if my husband is a secondary on our now membership that is about to expire? He never went in to have his picture taken and we are at the same address.

I’ve always had a Sam’s Club membership. I was looking at this deal and is the only difference between purchasing it on Groupon and purchasing it on the Costco website is the freebies? You just get 1 single card for the home address right?Thanks!
yes, the only difference between buying on living social is that you get the freebies, you get 2 cards per household with the basic membership regardless where you purchase it from

You are allowed one card for the Primary Member signing up. In addition, you are allowed an additional “household” card for another member of your household. These cards are nontransferable, only to be used for the person named on that card.
Good to know. I went with my husband when I got my card, and they did not offer an additional household card. Maybe it was because I didn’t ask- I will do that next time I am there.

Yah!!! My membership expired in October 2017. But last time I signed up with a similar deal, Costco gave me a hard time with the gift card and coupons saying a NEW MEMBER is someone who has not had a membership in the last 18months, even though the fine prints said 6 months. A manager had to be involved for me to the gift card and coupons. I really hope it is different this time.

because it would be less than 6 months, have your husband be the primary and you go in as the secondary.

If I bought this on the Groupon last time and haven’t really used my membership, am I able to get a refund or will they say no because it was bought through Groupon with a couple of freebies?
If you haven’t open the voucher yet then I think you can still get a refund through Groupon.
Thanks for following up Sarah. I did use the voucher to get the membership card and free items, but I have only used the membership 3x and was wondering if they would do a refund for the remaining months since I haven’t found the membership valuable. Not sure if they would give a prorated refunded for the months that remain if I bought through Groupon. I’m ok with losing the months that I didn’t use since they are in the past, but it would be nice to get a refund on the upcoming months that are paid for since I haven’t wanted to use it.
I would sell the remaining months on CL, OfferUp or Nextdoor. Add them as yondary. Make sure you take ur creditcard off the account if you ever set it up. And keep yourself as primary so they cant make any account changes. I did this for a few years to save the yearly fee. We were both single and don’t buy a ton so it was easier to split it.

Is anyone having a problem with this? I’ve tried both Groupon and living social through Ebates and niether will go through. I’ve tried 2 different payment methods and that is not the issue?
I tried to go though Mr. Rebates and it doesn’t work, and I looked carefully and it states that will not work on Membership discounts – probably the same for Ebates
Does anyone know if you have a membership that expired if last year if you do this deal if it will be linked to your old membership (i.e. if I need to return anything purchased last year will they still be able to look it up in the system). We have some LED lights purchased from them last year that were supposed to last 5 years and already burned out.
I’ve had luck returning an item recently that I had purchased using my old membership card (I was a primary member then, now I’m a secondary on my spouse’s membership). Did not seem like too much of a hassle for them to look up the details of the old membership in the system.

Yes, you can get a second household card with this deal. Here is the fine print from the deal “A One-Year Costco Gold Star Membership, which includes: a membership card for the Primary Cardholder and one free Household Card for anyone over the age of 18 and living at the same address.”

I would say this is the best deal you’re going to get. When I’ve looked in the past I’ve never seen anything better. There is also a deal in the entertainment coupon book. It is pretty much the same, but with different freebies. Unfortunately my membership expired just last month so I don’t qualify otherwise I would be jumping on this deal.
Never got the extras through Groupon only the gift card. Beware !

Can someone tell me what forms of payment are accepted at Costco – do they have their own credit card. I have a BJs credit card and get .10 off gas all the time and after a certain spending amount for store purchases I receive a $20 reward. Just trying to compare the 2. thanks
They do have their own VISA CC but will also accept any VISA card.

I’d say the card is worth it. We use our card all the time and the annual rewards we get pays for our annual Costco membership and more.

Make sure you check your email for the 50% Groupon offer before you buy. I had it in my email this morning and was able to apply the code FIFTY for $25 off making the deal only $35. The code does work but only if you got the email offer. I had been waiting for a Costco deal so this was better than I had hoped!

Full value of voucher and Costco Membership Activation Certificate must be used in a single visit.
