If you have a kiddo in the 4th grade (or the homeschooling equivalent) this year, your family is eligible for a FREE National Parks Annual Pass valid through August 31st, 2019!

The annual pass grants free access to national parks, forests, wildlife refuges, and more for your 4th grader. Even better, it also includes all children under 16 and up to three adults, plus you can use it as many times as youโ€™d like!

Are you a 4th grade teacher?

4th grade teachers and adults who lead youth-serving organizations (think home-schooling co-op, camps, youth groups, etc.) can print passes for your entire class plus download fun activities.

We have enjoyed this so much. We took a road trip and stopped at a number of places this saved us a ton. It doesn’t work at privately owned locations like Gettysburg Muesum but I’m not complaining. They also had activities for the kids that they could complete and earned awards and badges, which saved me from having to pay for buttons or patches to remember the trip.

Great idea to have built in and paid for souvenirs , Amanda!

  2. Brianne

Thanks! I love that this includes homeschool kids as well!

  3. Just passing through

I love my park pass and the jr. ranger programs for kids.
I recently visited the end of the Oregon trail museum and highly recommend it! It wasnโ€™t a planned visit so Iโ€™ll have to return ( saw the sign on a road trip) The exhibits were really nice and interactive.

We used my son’s pass to take a family trip to Yellowstone.

    • Liza (Hip2Save Sidekick)

That sounds like so much fun! I’ve always wanted to visit Yellowstone. ๐Ÿ™‚ Glad you were able to go and score savings at the same time!

      • Val

we used the pass for Yellowstone and the Grand teton last year!
Remember to print out the pass before you go on the trip! I forgot to print it out, and the printer at the hotel was broken. they need to have a print out and won’t take the image on the phone…we ended up had to pay $20 for the badland national park this summer ๐Ÿ™

        • ella

We did a big road trip to the Badlands, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, and the Black Hills last summer and this saved us a lot, but we also forgot to print it before leaving. Luckily we were able to look for a Staples along the way and we were able to stop and print from our e-mail! You can send it to the store and print it right there. It’s a service I never knew they had or thought about. It was a little wonky with our phone, but a wonderful customer service person helped us make it happen.

This sounds like an amazing trip- any chance you could share your itinerary? Where you stayed, ate etc, etc? Lol- I love a good mom approved trip advisor. ๐Ÿ˜œ

            • momof6

Would also love to hear of your itinerary. I think a road trip would be so great, but am overwhelmed with the planning aspect! wstribe@hotmail.com

I donโ€™t have a 4th grade yet, but I love this so much. What a gift to families!!!

  6. VAl

We love the pass! They don’t just pay for the admission, but also the guided tour too! we were at the Wind cave this past summer, and the pass saved us $50 for the guided cave tours!

  7. Diana

I wish I knew about this last year when my sonโ€™s in 4th grade…๐Ÿ˜ฉ

  8. Rebecca Lee

I filled out the form to get the 4th grade park tickets but after filling out the info, that’s as far as the site would let me go.

    • Amber (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Hmm, are you using a mobile device? If not, maybe try again in a different browser. Hoping you can get through soon!

  9. Tracy

Has anyone ever had any trouble using the pass?

    • Alese

The first time you hand over the paper pass they normally exchange it for a nicer, totally legit looking pass. We did not have any issues using it ever

  10. sarahg

This pass was great and very easy to use. We went to Yellowstone with my brother and nieces and it was so fun when we went through the gates into the park because the Ranger asks the 4th Grader some questions and then they get an actual pass card that they have to show every time you go through, so it made our 4th grader feel really special! Saved so much on entry fees for the family.

    • Liza (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Oh how cool! That would make my kiddo feel special, too. Glad you had such a great experience sarahg! ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. Stephanie White

Does this pass work for the educator too? I was able to download passes for all of my students, but it doesn’t show a pass for the educator.

    • Liza (Hip2Save Sidekick)

Hi Stephanie! Each pass includes entrance for up to three adults too, so you should be able to join your students for free also! Hope that helps!

  12. Gigi

I LOVE LOVE THIS! Does anyone want to trade? LOL I have a high schooler, he can mow your lawn or shovel snow while your 4th grader and I are checking out Old Faithful! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  13. Alese

We used this pass at the beach last summer. It was great! Got us access to gorgeous spots and saved us the $15 a day entrance fee ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. D.J. Remer

Does anyone know if this pass is good for camping too? It is an awesome freebie already but we would like to take 4-6 weeks traveling and hitting as many parks as we can

    • Julie

No discount on camping. Most national park campgrounds are reserved through Recreation.gov but some such as Mesa Verde and Yellowstone are not. It saves money on some tours but it depends on the location. For example, we visited the Lincoln Home and Ulysses S. Grant Home National Historical Sites and the tours were either discounted or free. Or, to visit Carlsbad Cavern it saves money on the basic tour but not the extra tour such as King’s Palace.

  15. Donna

Definitely think beyond just west trips! We too recently visited the Canaveral National Seashore. We bought our senior lifetime pass last year right before the price went up, thanks to Hip2save! We loved it! There we many things to see and a free presentation and of course beautiful pristine beaches.
