Don’t like the idea of having a credit card?
Consider signing up for the debit card instead of the credit version to receive the same perks, no annual fee, and no credit check required. The debit card is tied to your existing checking account so you can also withdraw up to $40 cash at checkout in-store.
Warning- not Target card- but Kohls card question: Is it worth it? I have a redcard and like it, but i don’t do much shopping with Kohl’s currently. The sales with the card seem good, but I’ve not taken the plunge. Has it been worth it?
yes! definitely worth it! kohls always has decent sales but with the card you can always find the 30% code online and often free shipping(a week each month or so) so at least for me, who doesnt get to stores very often so online shopping is my gig, yes! that said, I had and got great deals with the card for years before crossing over to online shopping. totally a great card to have. only thing better would be if they had free return shipping like if you buy on redcard! then my trunk wouldn’t be full of wrong sized clothes I have to return:)
So worth it, especially following Hip2Save! I finally did it two years ago and don’t regret it one bit! You can pay the bill before you walk out of the store too, which I love! I also LOVE my target red card. I do practically all my baby shopping here!!! So excited for more savings 💕
I have had kohl’s for many years and also target. they both ship to hawaii where family is. Kohl’s has the best deals. plus the free shipping and 30 percent off a lot. and you can stack coupons. Target just started to allow cartwheel online which is good. as our nearest target is about 45 minutes away. off to shop birthdays coming up
It depends. I was debating between Target vs Kohl’s a few years ago. I chose Kohl’s because I had a small child (now I have another) and with the coupons and deals, getting clothes for them have been cheap. Especially when I go to the store and shop their clearance with the deals.
However, I have used the Kohl’s card less nowadays (been tough making it into a store) buy when I shop online, it’s nice to get the 30% off with free shipping. I debated getting a Target one.. but I personally don’t think I shop enough at Target so I don’t think it’d be worth it for me.
You don’t have to get the credit version of the red card to have the deals, you can also just sign up for the debit version. If you’re worried about tying a card to your bank account, most banks offer free checking, you could just open a new checking account just for the debit red card and it would help you stay within budget as well knowing you only have so much you can spend.
Absolutely!!! Kohl’s card is must for me. It’s great savings with it.
I recommend the Kohls charge. During % off sales you can always get 30% off shopping online with your Kohls charge. When combined with sale prices, or another offer (such as $10 off $50) you can snag some good deals. And, you can get free shipping so you don’t have to be in store all the time. I got the Target debit card instead of the credit card. All the same perks, but I like that it’s tied to my checking account instead of yet another credit card.
We all have the target debit card in my family! No reason not to have it. It’s hooked to your regular debit card so you’re spending the money you were going to anyway but saving 5% by using the card!
Yes to this!
Have to agree with Kohl’s card , nice when you shop the clearance and then get a additional 30% off plus free ship !
If you do the Kohls card you can charge to your card and then do another transaction and pay it off the same day! Good way to keep the bill from racking up too far!
My favorite perk is the free shipping on all online purchases. Especially during the holidays, purchases are made in bits and pieces and never all at the same time.
Thank you all so much for your feedback!!
I have a Target Debit Card and love it. I didn’t want another credit card so that’s why I decided to go with the debit. You always get free shipping online not matter the amount you spend and 5% off of every purchase.
I have had a Target Redcard for several years now and have never gotten an anniversary coupon. I think you have to opt in for their emails? And I tried that. It lasted all of two weeks before I’d had enough of that nonsense! Waaayy too many emails for me just to get one extra discount during the year.
A little trick I use to avoid too many emails is that I have a separate email account that I use ONLY for my shopping. I go to it when I need to track an order or search for a coupon before ordering, but generally ignore that email the rest of the time and periodically purge all the old emails. This way my inbox is way less clogged on my everyday email account, but still can get all the good promos and coupons!
I never receive any of it! How do you opt in?
When you go online to manage my red card you can opt in under account settings. I still receive paper bills (I know old news nowadays) but I got my 10% coupon on my statement. I almost tossed it, so you have to look for it! Hope that helps 🙂
Thanks! I just tried but can’t seem to log on or reset it. Need to call in the am!
Having the Target Debit card tied to your checking account through a debit card seems very risky to me. If the number is stolen, your bank account can be drained before you know what’s happening. At least with a credit card, you won’t have your personal money tied up or have drafts or checks bounce because there’s no money in the account.
The Target debit card requires a paper check(not a debit card) when you apply for it. Once you are approved they make you select a PIN#. You cannot buy without the pin. It is like writing an electronic check, it takes about 2 days for the transaction to post, for me anyway.
