These are the best for anxiety and ADHD. All of our kids use them to watch movies in the basement. Plus it’s a good arm work out when I lift it to fold it!
Weighted blankets, in general, are a lifesaver for some people. I made one for my husband last year and he sleeps so much better with it. He suffers from anxiety and nightmares, and it made a huge difference.
I usually sleep with several blankets but when using this it’s all I need. Our house is usually around 72 degrees and I don’t get too hot with it.
I turn up the A/C and use a fan, and I also pull it up so it’s not on my feet to help keep me cooler. It’s worth it to finally be able to sleep. Remember it does take a week or so of getting used to it. I didn’t realize when I did sleep I tossing and turning the whole time the blanket stops you from doing that.
I have one for my grandchild who has autism. It has been a lifesaver! It helps in stressful environments, car rides, and even bedtime. I also read they work great with Alzheimer’s patients as well.
My daughter has one and she has to sleep with her fan on full blast on combat the heat. But, with that being said, she is sleeping the best she has ever slept. She falls asleep quickly and sleeps more soundly at night!
I found this exact blanket at BB&B on clearance for 26 bucks. OMG it is amazing! I usually need to sleeps with 2 blankets, a comforter, and the sheets to stay warm and comfortable at night. I only need this blanket now. I also have abnormally low blood pressure and this helps me in so many ways I highly recommend.
Oh wow! Such a great score! Good to know how helpful it has been for you! Thanks a bunch for your recommendation! Now I really want to grab one!
How long ago did you find it at BB&B on clearance. I’ve been looking for one for my daughter for Christmas but I’m cheap and want to find the best deal.
My middle little needs a weighted blanket at night to sleep. We had originally purchased this one but found that they did not create “pockets” for the weights and the weights shift. With his twin bed and little frame the blanket was often slipping, off the bed, because the weights slipped to the sides. Wasn’t our favorite one and we replaced it quickly. It will work well for someone who has a larger bed and it won’t slip off the sides as easily.
Which one did u purchase Rachel??
Thank you for the heads up…that was EXACTLY what I was wondering (if the weights were sewn into pockets/squares, which seems to be the biggest complaint I’ve seen in my research of several weighted blankets). Disappointed as I loved the extra-cozy look of this cover. (Mine would also be for a child).
Hello there, not to interrupt your conversation, but I have done a great deal of research on this exact issue and there is one particular weighted blanket that sews in a criss cross pattern so that what used to be weights (now they are all made with the tinyist of glass beads), cannot move out of the small compartments. (Most weighted blankets are sewn now with squares, but the squars are still too large so all of the “beads” flow to the edges.
The blanket is called the doseology weighted blanket premium and it is sold on Amazon. It also comes with a duvet cover that attaches in 8 different places to the blanket so that the blanket does not shift around..
This blanket is more expensive, but it gets the highest ratings in all areas.
It should be noted that this is a kids blanket. All the research says that the blanket should be at least 10% of your weight to get the full benefits. This blanket would suit someone that weighs 120 lbs.
Actually, adults can also be this size! I’m a 90 pound adult so please don’t assume it’s just for children!
The size is great. But the pockets slide all around to the bottom!
For those of you curious about weighted blankets I recently purchased one from amazon that is made of tiny squares with the beads. I recommend that type so the beads don’t shift around. I really love mine. I suffer from anxiety and insomnia and it seems to calm me down at night.
Can I ask what one you ordered from amazon?
As an anxiety sufferer it can be really difficult to handle as it’s a constant thing to deal with I would love to try this blanket
Target has a weighted blanket – 12lb for $70. Black Friday doorbuster for $50.
We bought my son with ADHD a really nice one from Amazon with excellent bead pockets so it doesn’t bunch, but they are pricey! YnM is the brand we went with and it’s amazing quality.
Jamie you just made my day…I didn’t think to check Target (and it’s my favorite! And I have a gift card!!!). But I didn’t see it in their Black Friday Preview ad (?)
It’s there, as a doorbuster – towards the end of the ad on their online one!
Hey, thanks! Totally missed that!!!
Do not buy this weighted blanket! There is no way for the beads to stay well distributed and the reviews reflect that.
I have a weighted blanket that has pocketed compartments and I can’t imagine how it could work otherwise
I bought two from amazon with little squares that hold the weights so they don’t slide. I have a child with night terrors and another restless sleeper with anxiety. These have been amazing!!!
If you’ve already bought one and the beads shift too much, you could probably just sew more straight lines in the blankets to keep the beads from shifting. Or distribute the beads and sew an X or + in each box. It would be a big project, but since they cost so much it would be worth doing. I’d suggest sewing by hand with a tight overlapping stitch so the beads can’t get through. If using a sewing machine, be sure there are no beads where you are sewing or they will break the needle.
