Thank you. I am in the process of getting rid of all my plastic and replacing with glass. So this is really helpful.
Oh perfect! You’re so welcome!
Me too; perfect time ; my husband suddenly started to put some thoughts into house things (which is really a surprise 🙂 ) and said yesterday that ‘babe, we should be throwing these plastic stuff away and be health conscious’ 🙂 . I was like ok , but didn’t want to throw anything until I get a replacement 🙂
I’ve owned Pyrex containers for years and one of the things that’s really disappointed me was that the rubber lid always got tears in it. I got the Sam’s Club Glass Containers for Christmas & they work amazing! They’re normally $24.98 but they’re on sale for $20.98 ! https://m.samsclub.com/ip/24pc-glass-food-strg-member-s-mark/prod21364166
Thanks for the honest comment and for sharing your find with us! SO sorry to hear the lids ripped! I have had some of these Pyrex items with the plastic lids and they are still holding up for me so far!
I’ve had the exact same thing happen with ripped lids 🙁
Interesting the comments regarding ripped lids. I’ve had no problems with the lids — just me and my clumsy old self nicking a corner or two and of the base and have to throw it away. I’ve gone through several of these. I need Corningwear storage containers. I can drop those til the cows come home and only managed to break 1 or 2 in pieces.
Use the live customer service chat on the Pyrex website. Their products have a lifetime guarantee, they’ll send you new lids for free
Yes almost all of my kids are ripped which means they leak if in lunchboxes.
I love Pyrex storage products! This would make a great wedding gift.
It sure would! I received a Pyrex set for my wedding, over 14 years ago and it has held up GREAT! Thanks for the suggestion!
I own this Pyrex set and the quality of the lids is very poor. I’ve had them less than 6 months and the lids are cracking and very stiff. I’ve had to throw away almost half of the lids already 🙁
Bummer! Thanks so much for sharing your experience. SO sorry to hear the lids have not held up well. 🙁
Thanks for the posts about the Pyrex lids! I’ve had the same problem – especially on the smaller round ones. Glad to hear it’s not just me!!
Like others have said, the lids on this set are not great. They warp in the microwave.
The Pyrex snapware line is great and they often go B1G1 free at publix.
You’re not supposed to microwave plastic, even if it says microwave-safe. That said, I agree that the quality is not great. I’ve had one lid that had a tear, and I handwash the lids.
I love my Corningware! I got mine as a wedding gift 10 years ago. I’ve broken a couple through the years dropping them on my tile floor but the rest are in great condition and clean up well.
Oh awesome! Good to know how well they have held up for you, Ashley! Thanks for sharing with us!
Love the Pyrex! I’m tempted to get more but I already have plenty, lol. I’ve been using my current set for three years and they are as good as new, even though the lids are one of my toddler’s favorite toys. I don’t microwave the lids (seems like a bad idea anyway) and we usually hand-wash them unless they are really gross.
Don’t microwave the lids and they will last forever!
I have had my Pyrex for many, many years. When my lids get cracked, I purchase new lids for Walmart or Amazon. They are pricey.. Sometimes one lid is 5.99, but two are 6.99. I get two, then I already have a spare. Great if you have two the same size.. Love my Pyrex!!.. Also, I try not to put mine in the freezer. One lid did crack and I know not to do that again!
Totally agree about the quality of the lids – very poor.
I’m reading mixed reviews on both the Sam’s glass containers versus the Pyrex ones. The main issue that concerns me are the lids. Idk which to get now. :-\ Pyrex or Sam’s?.?.? So undecided and now confused lol.
I have had no issues with the lids cracking/breaking, so not sure what others are doing with theirs. I try not to microwave my lids but have done so. All the lids are fine, so the pesky glass breaking (mainly chipping) for me (clumsiness!).
I just purchased Lock and Lock from QVC. They’re water tight, air tight, microwavable, freezer safe and dishwasher safe. They have tons of options. I’ve used them for years so I’ll stick with those. For bake ware I use Temptations from QVC as well. Never let me down. I highly recommend these two products. Plus, QVC has easy pay. 😉
Some of my Pyrex lids have cracked too and I have never put mine in the microwave and always hand wash them
If you need a pyrex replacement lid, try world kitchen online or at outlets. They come pretty cheap at sale time.
