Help Teachers #ClearTheList!

With back to school season upon us, thousands of teachers across the country are working to prepare their classrooms for the new school year and this typically means stocking up on school supplies.

Did you know that many teachers pay for a majority of classroom supplies out of their own pocket? Yes, it’s true! Classroom supplies are not cheap and some school districts struggle, leaving many teachers to pay for school supplies on their own.

YOU can help by joining the #ClearTheList movement!

This movement was started by a school teacher earlier this month in the form of a Facebook group called “Support A Teacher – Teacher Gifting“. This group provides a place for school teachers and professionals to share their Classroom Wish Lists so that generous donors across the worlds can fulfill the item(s) on these lists.

Just choose a teacher in need, click on their wish list and start shopping!

Teachers and educational professionals can head over to Amazon, create a classroom wish list and then share their lists publicly. Even better, anyone can ‘donate’ items that are on the list and after making a donation, donors can even leave a note or message letting the teacher know how much they are appreciated. So awesome!

Teachers, follow these steps to make your own classroom wish list on Amazon:

  • Head over over to Amazon and hover over Account & List at the top of any Amazon.com page. Select ‘Create a List’ from the drop-down menu.
  • Choose the Wish list and whether you want the list to be private or public. You can also designate whether your list is for an organization and if so, you’ll have the option to provide the website address of the organization.
  • Click ‘Save’ and then you can start adding items to your list!
  • To add items to your wish list, simply browse Amazon for products and then click ‘Add to List’ under the Buy box on the right-hand side of any item’s product detail page.
  • Only list owners can make changes through Manage List. Both list owners and collaborators will be able to add and remove items.

Teachers do so much for our kids so let’s help them out in any way we can!

That’s such a great idea- I actually suggested and we are adding a fund in our PTA budget this year for any extra supplies that parents aren’t able to help
Out with- I know our beloved teachers are underpaid so I hate to think of them having to spend a lot for their classes

My son’s school has a PTO, we live in an area where more than half of the kids receive free or reduced lunch. From the fundraisers throughout the year they provide school supplies to each kid. It’s a burden off most people’s shoulders so we always donate to them at the beginning of the year to continue this program.

I love this. My husband and I do this every year not only for our children’s teachers but we put word out to all our friends. This year we helped fill the needs of 6 classrooms

It’s a great movement! I’m still waiting for my list to be cleared but giving to others is so much more fun than getting your list cleared! #northTexasTeacher #maybesoon!

This is such a nice idea. Maybe one day I will be in a position to donate, for now just buying the supplies on my kids lists is all I can do.

Thank you so much for sharing this! I didn’t know about the movement until you posted this article, and I’m a teacher! I teach at a high school in West Virginia where a majority of my students are low-income. If you want to contribute to my Harry Potter-themed English classroom, feel free to check out my list: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/28FJCQQTV0IL7

This is such a wonderful idea! I’ve taught Special Education inclusion for years and am moving into a fourth grade classroom this fall. I have had to purchase so many items on my own to decorate a classroom. On books alone I’ve spent at least $250! And this is making sure I buy them at goodwill, thrift stores, yard sales. I even purchased comic books to engage my reluctant readers. Any help you can give to any of the teachers out there would be appreciated.

Linda, I live on the far south side (Oak Forest) I would like to contribute what I can to your school list. I think I can order this thru Amazon, pay for it on my end, and then ship it to you…right? What address should I have it shipped to? Please email me. bekki0282@gmail.com

Linda, I tried to order for you, but I think you may need to put in an address on Amazon. It would be hidden so no worry of anything.

Thanks for sharing! I have been teaching Kindergarten in a Title 1 school for four years and it is definitely a struggle for me to provide my sweet students with everything they need. I would appreciate any help at all but my top priority is snacks. So many of my students cannot afford to bring their own snacks and it is hard for them to concentrate on an empty stomach. Thanks in advance!

I am a kindergarten teacher in rural, southern West Virginia were 100% of our students receive free lunch. I greatly appreciate this effort as it is hard to provide for the needs of our students and our own families. Many of my items are intended to bring more play based learning back into kindergarten. I want my kinder kiddos to play to learn and learn to play in a safe and inviting environment. Again, thank you for this effort and your desire to spread the cause. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/33R5MT0A58C5K

My wishlist includes granola bars and crackers for students who come to school hungry, basic supplies such as erasers and pencils, and engaging books. Thank you for taking a look! We are so excited for the new school year. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1RJPMKV0ELSMU?ref_=wl_share

Hi, I’m a K teacher at a Title I poverty stricken school in FL. My wish list is small. I moved schools and do not have a classroom library. I only have 5 items I need, all under $20. I have National Board Certification in literacy and two Masters Degrees. I know how to teach reading but of course I need books in the classroom. Thank you so much for any help.
