Help Teachers #ClearTheList!

With back to school season upon us, thousands of teachers across the country are working to prepare their classrooms for the new school year and this typically means stocking up on school supplies.

Did you know that many teachers pay for a majority of classroom supplies out of their own pocket? Yes, it’s true! Classroom supplies are not cheap and some school districts struggle, leaving many teachers to pay for school supplies on their own.

YOU can help by joining the #ClearTheList movement!

This movement was started by a school teacher earlier this month in the form of a Facebook group called “Support A Teacher – Teacher Gifting“. This group provides a place for school teachers and professionals to share their Classroom Wish Lists so that generous donors across the worlds can fulfill the item(s) on these lists.

Just choose a teacher in need, click on their wish list and start shopping!

Teachers and educational professionals can head over to Amazon, create a classroom wish list and then share their lists publicly. Even better, anyone can ‘donate’ items that are on the list and after making a donation, donors can even leave a note or message letting the teacher know how much they are appreciated. So awesome!

Teachers, follow these steps to make your own classroom wish list on Amazon:

  • Head over over to Amazon and hover over Account & List at the top of any Amazon.com page. Select ‘Create a List’ from the drop-down menu.
  • Choose the Wish list and whether you want the list to be private or public. You can also designate whether your list is for an organization and if so, you’ll have the option to provide the website address of the organization.
  • Click ‘Save’ and then you can start adding items to your list!
  • To add items to your wish list, simply browse Amazon for products and then click ‘Add to List’ under the Buy box on the right-hand side of any item’s product detail page.
  • Only list owners can make changes through Manage List. Both list owners and collaborators will be able to add and remove items.

Teachers do so much for our kids so let’s help them out in any way we can!

I am posting this on behalf of my girlfriend Jessica Hanson ( https://www.facebook.com/jessica.hanson.79 ). She is the Upper School ELA Learning Specialist & 7th Grade SPED Case Manager at KIPP Nashville. She goes in daily at 6:00, returns nightly at 8:00 or 9:00. Last summer she spent easily $1000 out of pocket taking some students on a road trip of historical locations throughout Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi and Alabama. These schools ask a lot of their staff and Jessica takes pride in being the best she can be. Her list is short but they are items she surely needs to help in her journey. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/4OPENR2C87KD?ref_=wl_share&fbclid=IwAR3OGg6yRzYRo5NhsvolXhyFtpM_JV_zciSF6xstyIHwrnxCpf6CZ_d7SDw

Hello I have been a teacher for 12 years and I recently switched to teaching special education. I was so surprised at what my classroom was provided with for my learners that need more hands on and visual learning. I created a list in hopes of providing them with lessons and center work that meets their needs. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/dl/invite/0naqdxv?ref_=wl_share

Hello, After 11 years as a Kindergarten teacher I am working my first year as a special education teacher for Kdg to 2nd grade students. I am wishing for supplies to help make my classroom have more engaged hands on learning centers, plus pick up a few things every class needs. Thank you for checking out my list. 🙂 Resharing my list because I made the rookie mistake of sharing an editable list. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/36XGEGFTLKFFN?ref_=wl_share

I’ve created a wishlist for my husband’s high school music classroom – he has no idea! He has created the first music program in his school – some of his students have never experienced music in school until they reached HS! He teachers in an underprivileged area and while the parent emotional support is high, financial support is low. I’d love to surprise him with items that will help out in his classroom!

Middle school students need hands on experiences to help understand concepts. Please consider purchasing a Jenga game on my Amazon list to help kids visualize the impacts of volcanic eruptions. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3JU78A6Q3A8L0

I am a second year teacher at a school that has a high percentage of students (70+ percent) from an economically disadvantaged home. This list is for my first grade class and classroom. I have a desire to change lives and create a magical learning experiences that students will cling to their whole lives. It is very important to me that my students walk into their classroom excited to learn. I want to create many hands on experiences for my students that they’ll remember beyond the lesson! I want each child to develop a love for reading that will travel with them throughout their lives. As many teachers have, I’ve started from scratch and need help whipping up the materials I need to create this experience for my students. As much as I would love to spend my paychecks creating this environment, I am a mother of 4 beautiful children who need me.

I’m a teacher for low-income school which means that classroom resources are also hard to come by. I spend over $1,000 in supplies for my students last school year. I could really use some help in getting some or all of the items on my list to help them be in a warm and inviting atmosphere that doesn’t look institutional. I really hate rooms that have white bare walls with little to no wall covering. I also provide students with school supplies because many cannot afford even a pencil. I teach 8th grade Pre-Algebra and I love my kiddos. They are very smart, sometimes for their own good, and want to make something out of their lives. The simple things, like pencils, kleenex, and cleaning wipes, really make a difference.

Hello, I’m a 4th grade math and science teacher in Toledo, Ohio. We are going back to school on an A/B schedule, which means that half my students will be in class while the other half ‘distance learn’. In science, especially, students will need to have some at home supplies to do experiments with parent supervision. I’ve made this list with that in mind. Any help that you can give is so greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance for your help. You rock!

To anyone who wants to help me prepare for this upcoming new “Covid-19” school year . I am so appreciative of your kindness. Like, promised, here is the link to my class’s wish list for the new school year. Any and all help is so much appreciated and so helpful to my own wallet.
I work in Missouri. I teach 2nd grade. Most of the kids I teach, live in poverty and come to school with little to no supplies. For many students, our classrooms are their safe place .
** I have also provided details for almost all items for what and how I will use them in the classroom *=]
Again, thank you for helping me prepare for a year filled with many unknowns

Thank you so much to everyone who has helped out with classroom supplies for the school year. 💕

There’s only one thing left. The One and Only Ivan is a favorite of mine and the movie is coming out soon. I know the kids will be excited about this and I’m hoping to have a class set of the books. It will be great to start the year with a novel they want to read in class and at home on their assigned virtual days. Again, thanks a million for your support!

Hi, everyone! My name is Scarlett Rivera and I’m a special education teacher in Chesapeake, VA. This will be my first FULL year of teaching. Although it will look different because of COVID, I’m very excited for all that it will offer. I’ll have the pleasure of teaching 3rd and 5th grade autistic kiddos. My goal is to stock my classroom so that students do not have to share materials, as we have been advised by our school system.
    Any donation is GREATLY appreciated!

I have spent thousands of my own dollars over the years to create a classroom that is supportive of all my learners. I am happy to spend my own money, but very excited to see what magic can happen when you open up a wish list to the world. Thanks in advance for anything you can do!
