Help Teachers #ClearTheList!

With back to school season upon us, thousands of teachers across the country are working to prepare their classrooms for the new school year and this typically means stocking up on school supplies.

Did you know that many teachers pay for a majority of classroom supplies out of their own pocket? Yes, it’s true! Classroom supplies are not cheap and some school districts struggle, leaving many teachers to pay for school supplies on their own.

YOU can help by joining the #ClearTheList movement!

This movement was started by a school teacher earlier this month in the form of a Facebook group called “Support A Teacher – Teacher Gifting“. This group provides a place for school teachers and professionals to share their Classroom Wish Lists so that generous donors across the worlds can fulfill the item(s) on these lists.

Just choose a teacher in need, click on their wish list and start shopping!

Teachers and educational professionals can head over to Amazon, create a classroom wish list and then share their lists publicly. Even better, anyone can ‘donate’ items that are on the list and after making a donation, donors can even leave a note or message letting the teacher know how much they are appreciated. So awesome!

Teachers, follow these steps to make your own classroom wish list on Amazon:

  • Head over over to Amazon and hover over Account & List at the top of any Amazon.com page. Select ‘Create a List’ from the drop-down menu.
  • Choose the Wish list and whether you want the list to be private or public. You can also designate whether your list is for an organization and if so, you’ll have the option to provide the website address of the organization.
  • Click ‘Save’ and then you can start adding items to your list!
  • To add items to your wish list, simply browse Amazon for products and then click ‘Add to List’ under the Buy box on the right-hand side of any item’s product detail page.
  • Only list owners can make changes through Manage List. Both list owners and collaborators will be able to add and remove items.

    I teach Kindergarten in a rural area in Southern West Virginia. We are a Title 1 school and 100% of our students receive free lunch. I strive to bring play back into kindergarten and create learning experiences were students play to learn. These resources would help engage students in the way five and six year olds are wired to learn. Thank you for your consideration in helping my class and helping to create a environment that children feel happy, safe, and comfortable.

    I am an Elementary School Counselor at a small rural school with limited resources and little to no funding. Our students would greatly benefit from these resources as I provide individual, small group, and classroom guidance. During these sessions, I am able to teach coping and life skills in and addition to the importance of self worth, individualism, Diversity and compassion while ensuring their safety and well-being.

    Elementary teacher who has taught in Alaska, Virginia, and now Pennsylvania! I love my job, the students, and all the places I’ve been able to call home.     1st time high school art teacher here at a title I school with practically no art budget. All my kids have had to work with all year is old broken crayons, some colored pencils, cheap markers, and very old/used kiddy water colors. Anything is so helpful and appreciated.     Second year teacher and single momma changing schools due to a toxic environment. Since I am currently at a private school I am making very little money & won’t really be able to prepare my room for the next year. I had been planning on using grant money that we have at the end of the year to set it up for the new year, but no longer will have access to that since I decided to leave.

    This is my fifth year teaching but I have started at a new school teaching 6th grade ELA. Our school is great at providing us with the bare necessities but my classroom is missing a lot of the things that make it feel warm, fun, and learning conducive. My students are incredibly strong and kind individuals. Any donation from the list would help to bring so much light and fun to me and my students.

    I’m moving to 2nd grade next year! I teach on the West Side of Chicago at a Title 1 school. This means a majority of students are low income. Unfortunately my school lost over $350,000 in funding for next year. Many of my students are unable to bring in any school supplies.
