Help Teachers #ClearTheList!

With back to school season upon us, thousands of teachers across the country are working to prepare their classrooms for the new school year and this typically means stocking up on school supplies.

Did you know that many teachers pay for a majority of classroom supplies out of their own pocket? Yes, it’s true! Classroom supplies are not cheap and some school districts struggle, leaving many teachers to pay for school supplies on their own.

YOU can help by joining the #ClearTheList movement!

This movement was started by a school teacher earlier this month in the form of a Facebook group called “Support A Teacher – Teacher Gifting“. This group provides a place for school teachers and professionals to share their Classroom Wish Lists so that generous donors across the worlds can fulfill the item(s) on these lists.

Just choose a teacher in need, click on their wish list and start shopping!

Teachers and educational professionals can head over to Amazon, create a classroom wish list and then share their lists publicly. Even better, anyone can ‘donate’ items that are on the list and after making a donation, donors can even leave a note or message letting the teacher know how much they are appreciated. So awesome!

Teachers, follow these steps to make your own classroom wish list on Amazon:

  • Head over over to Amazon and hover over Account & List at the top of any Amazon.com page. Select ‘Create a List’ from the drop-down menu.
  • Choose the Wish list and whether you want the list to be private or public. You can also designate whether your list is for an organization and if so, you’ll have the option to provide the website address of the organization.
  • Click ‘Save’ and then you can start adding items to your list!
  • To add items to your wish list, simply browse Amazon for products and then click ‘Add to List’ under the Buy box on the right-hand side of any item’s product detail page.
  • Only list owners can make changes through Manage List. Both list owners and collaborators will be able to add and remove items.

Teachers do so much for our kids so let’s help them out in any way we can!

I am a librarian in a Title 1 school in St Louis, Missouri and I get to teach 350 students a week. A lot of families cannot afford basic school supplies much less sponsor STEM materials for my library. I would love to be able to teach my students STEM lessons but I do not have the budget to purchase the materials. Any help would be much appreciated! https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/21EOW8412NSPZ?ref_=wl_share

This is an awesome idea!! I am returning to teaching after a 10 year break to stay home with my children. I am going to be a Pre-K teacher at a private school this year. I have a limited budget just like when I taught in public school and I sold most of my teaching stuff over the last several years so I’m starting from scratch. 😊 https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/3UH89HMIK47ME?ref_=wl_share

Thank you! 2nd grade teacher here from SC. Low income area where I provide most of the school supplies. Anything helps! Some are wants, but most are needs. I will be purchasing all of the items from my list eventually. Help a teacher out!

This year will be my first year teaching 3rd grade math and science however it will be my 15th year teaching. I strive to make my classroom environment inviting and comfortable for all my students. This is why many of the expensive things you see are flexible seating options. I truly believe that when kids are comfortable and know that they have a choice in the manner of where/how they do their work they will be so much more successful. I’m also a single mom so providing all the heat flexible seating options is out of my budget. I would appreciate any and all help! https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/38KW50GRJ3UAD?ref_=wl_share

THANK YOU!!! ♥️ my classroom is my home away from home and the 22 children in my class are “my children”! I spend in excess of $1500 each year easily on my children and class. I purchase new and exciting manipulatives and activities to keep my students interested in school. I purchase cupcakes for birthday celebrations for those that can’t afford. I purchase consumables for science experiments to make science come to life. I purchase suspenders for the little boy who’s pants will never stay up, I purchase cereal and granola bars for children who don’t get breakfast before coming to school, I pay for lunch balances so my babies don’t get a cold cheese sandwich for their only meal of the day. The list goes on and on. Do I have to do all of these things? No! Will my kiddos learn without birthday cupcakes? Yes! But doing these things build lifelong relationships with my students ! Doing these things show my students that they matter to me! I would appreciate any kindness you can offer my Title 1, 2nd grade classroom in Brenham, Texas. I have 22 phenomenal, bright, enthusiastic children who would be greatly appreciative of your support.

This is an awesome way to show support of your teachers! I am a first year teacher, mother of 2. I will be teaching third grade and have already spent a lot working to make my classroom a safe, encouraging and inviting place for my students. I’d love to implement some flexible seating this year as well. https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/2TK4GYUHBSMLC?ref_=wl_share

Literacy, history, and creativity! Trying to complete two classroom novel sets to put more diverse literature into the hands of my students. Along with novel studies, my students are engaged in project based learning every six weeks and could benefit from the project materials on my list. My school has an 85% poverty rate, yet this does’t limit our students success. They are back to back Battle of the Book Champions, Ballroom Dancing Gold Medalist, and UIL ribbon winners. In two years we have gone from a D to a B rating and have received distinctions in reading! We are the small school with a big heart and would love your support!

This is the coolest movement EVER! Especially for a reading teacher who is looking to bring diverse books into the classroom so that all students find a book in which they see themselves! OK. I am needing help figuring this thing out. Is there a way to break down the teachers by state and see which are local that I would like to support? Or do you just randomly click on a teacher’s wish list and see what you can afford? I am really trying to figure this out but I can’t for the life of me. Please forgive my lack of knowledge on all things digital. I have been a SAHM for the past 10 years and I don’t really do social media. Any help would be honestly appreciated.

I have been teaching for a long time but over the years curriculum has changed, expectations of classroom environments, and general wear and tear have taken a toll on supplies I have purchased through the years. When I look at my classroom it could definitely use a refresh along with replacement of supplies. This would be super helpful. #clearthelists #support_a_teacher #clearthelist
