Goodbye Porch Pirates! Costco Now Offers Lockers for In-Store Pickup of Online Orders
Have you seen these lockers at your local Costco warehouse?
Select Costco locations are now offering lockers like these to allow customers the option to pick up their online purchases inside a Costco location.
Many customers have traditionally been reluctant to have small, high-value goods like jewelry, luxury handbags, and electronics shipped to their homes for fear that they will be stolen from their doorstep. So these lockers are intended to eliminate that issue.
The Costco lockers are reminiscent of Amazon’s vast network of lockers, which also allow customers to pick up non-perishable products at neighborhood locations like convenience stores and Whole Foods Markets.
In addition to joining Amazon in the fight against porch pirates, Costco has also been considering making available other e-commerce options popular with Amazon, like auto-replenishment for packaged goods.

Kinda defeats the point of ordering online and having shipped to your home, right?
A lot of high dollar items aren’t available in store and people don’t like having an expensive package sit on the porch. So this way they can order and it will be delivered to the store for pickup.
AT least you don’t have to go up and down every single aisle to find what you want. I get so frustrated when I need a certain item and it takes 15 minutes just to find the right aisle.
Now if I can get one that goes on my porch I’ll be in business lol
LOL!
It’s a good idea, but I won’t benefit from this. I don’t buy anything from Costco’s website because it costs more than buying it in store. Roundtrip bus fare is cheaper than the price difference.
I think it’s a good idea. Costco has a huge inventory of stuff that is ONLY available online — a lot of their high-end beauty for example is online-only. Costco is very quietly ramping up their online business with killer deals on things you’ll never see in the warehouse. I’ve been finding myself buying more and more from them online over the past year — and none of it could be purchased in my local warehouse.
