This is a YMMV situation. My store will not honor competitors coupons on sale items. They say it’s at the managers discretion.
Sorry to hear you had an issue. You might want to contact corporate. They’re promoting the heck out of the fact that they accept all competitor coupons as long as they’re not expired and don’t exclude items typically excluded on Michaels coupons. Linda, I’ve had the same experience at the Michael’s closest to me. No competitor coupons on items already with a reduced price.
