Looking for a simple way to use your Instant Pot?

If you own an Instant Pot, you’ve probably fallen in love with it by now thanks to the way it reduces the amount of cooking time required for meals. Unfortunately, your Instant Pot did not come with a function that will chop vegetables and measure ingredients!

Thanks to Tyson, now you will be able to skip all those meal-prepping steps and quickly put together a meal that tastes like you spent all day cooking it. The company has partnered with Instant Pot to sell meal kits that have all the ready-to-use ingredients you’ll need to prepare a delicious home-cooked meal!

The Tyson Instant Pot Meal Kits all feature chicken as the protein, as you might guess. They also come with rice and a premade sauce. These kits make dinner so easy… just add water, set your Instant Pot according to the directions, and go! There’s no chopping, no measuring, you don’t even have to stir.

So far, they’re available in three different flavors – Hatch Green Chile Chicken Casserole, Cajun Style Chicken and Rice, and Teriyaki Chicken and Rice. The Tyson Instant Pot Kits are slowly rolling out to select retailers, and they will be available nationwide by this spring. We’re already finding them listed on Target.com, where they’re priced at $9.99.

That is such a great idea!! I was so intimidated by my Instant Pot at first. This seems like a good way to get your feet wet with the IP or to make a quick “homemade” meal.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for the helpful feedback, Jess! Good to know these would be helpful when just beginning to use an instant pot!

    • Jennifer

I agree. They should have more options with a nice label that says the type and cooking time on it along with IP size (3/Mini, 4 qt., 6 qt., or 8 qt).

    • WV Wizard

Tried our first Tyson Instant Pot Meal Kit today. The premise is good but I had trouble with the execution. Using a 3 qt Instant Pot, loaded the pot as directed in the instructions. Started the pot and about 5 minutes later the BURN indicator came on. Opened up the pot and added another cup of water, closed it back up and 5 minutes later the BURN indicator came on. Tried it one more time with the same results. At that point decided to cook it with the pot open. Five minutes later – guess what.
Then transferred it to a baking dish and moved it to the oven. It was very good, would eat again. However, don’t think it is Instant Pot ready.

This seems like a gr8 option for a sports night. Although it would likely take 2 or 3 of these for our family of 8. So, this would only be reasonable if I got them on a great sale.

    • Amber

Agreed. We are a family of 6 and definitely think we would need two. I love the idea of this though. If they had a bigger pack I would get it.

    • Lindsay

I agree! Big family here with lots of boys so if I can get them on sale or use instead of takeout/fast food, they’ll be worth it. My kids just eat so much although hopefully more nutritious than fast food!

There’s a food blogger that I follow on Instagram, iFoodReal. She’s also on YouTube. Tons of prepare ahead instant pot freezer meals that are great for busy families.

  4. Betty

Anyone know of a good instant pot cookbook?

    • Delene Yochum

Pinterest has a lot of great Insta Pot recipes.

    • Joni

I love this website https://www.365daysofcrockpot.com for my recipes. It says crockpot but it’s instant pot. I think she started out as crock pot but now most recipes are instant pot. I made her enchilada soup tonight and it’s delicious!

      • tracey

        Thanks!!

  5. Paula Anguiano

Yes!!! Can’t wait to find this at my local target or market

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Woohoo! Hope you spot them! 🤞

  6. Kristi S.

Do they make just sauce like this for the instant pot? I’d scoop that up!

    • JLovesDeals

walmart has a few sauces for the instant pot

  7. Christina

Love the concept but hope they consider making healthier ones, these are loaded with sodium unfortunately!

  8. klvnh

Oh. My. Goodness. It’s like they speak my love language. 😍 I’m all about the easy.

  9. Cat

How much easier do people need to cook today? Lol

  10. PrincessMom

Am I the only one who regrets getting an instant pot? Seriously, I just don’t care for it. I prefer my crockpot.

    • Heather

I donated my crockpot when I bought my instapot and I deeply regret it. I bought a new crockpot and mostly use my instapot for rice.

      • Hunterwoody

Same with heather. Crock pot is my fave. Insta pot just makes rice

    • hip2trade

My instant pot spent months gathering dust before I ever used it. I was like why did I buy this? I wondered if I was caught up in the hype. Then I finally decided i would use it and see. I made a large turkey breast in it for my first use. It turned out very well. I did research recipes online to make sure I didn’t completely goof it up. I admit I have only used it twice and plan to make chicken breast in it tomorrow night. Seems like I’m using it for only poultry so far lol. For some reason I don’t enjoy the smell of poultry when it’s cooking so the instant pot helps keep it contained pretty well. I’m sure I will branch out more eventually. That being said I like the speed of cooking but I dont feel that an instant pot is a necessary item for me personally but I will continue to use it instead of letting it gather dust. 🙂

    • tori

Yes! I’ve had good luck with a few things but tried pot roast one day and it was horrible. Kept trying to cook it longer and it seemed like a lot of time wasted waiting for it to get pressure back up etc. And then it still wasnt as good as if I had put it in the crock pot in the first place!

      • ToriSC

I just did a pot roast and it turned out great and I don’t usually cook. It did take longer than I thought but still less than 2 hours start to finish (I put my vegetables in after the first 50 minutes so it had to come to pressure again).

      • Jaime

This Old Gal has a great pot roast recipe on her blog

  11. ambersteph

I just saw these in my target last week!

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

      Woohoo!

  12. Brandy

I’ll never be without an instant pot. Seriously changed my dinner cooking life. Pot roast, homemade soups, turkey, eggs, cheesecake, stuffed peppers…everything is EASIER & faster (no individual steps like with my stovetop & oven). I barely use my oven now & my crock pot was donated. I was intimidated at first too; but just dove in head first with something familiar & then branched out & experimented with new recipes. I can’t understand anyone not loving theirs!

  13. Jen

I was excited to see these at Target last week. Got the teriyaki one…two thumbs down. Great concept and price point tho.

  14. Nikki

The teriyaki was horrible! A sticky over sauced rice mess! I was so excited to try it and like it!

  15. Jennifer

One can always mix up or edit these meal kits. It would be nice to see meal kits that use the IP double/triple PIP’s, especially baking the desert while cooking/steaming/stewing the entree(s).
