Omg, I loved these back in the day, they are one thing from the 80’s that is good to see come back. Lol But if I remember right the roll on lip gloss tasted disgusting but we loved the look of super glossy lips. Lol

  8. Me

Same! I saw these in the Hallmark store and they were $6.99 which I thought was kind of expensive….but I ALWAYS had these when I was younger…..loved the strawberry!

  13. Tara

Thanks for the post. Loved these as a kid, getting some with the mini bag to add to my granddaughter’s Valentine’s Day goodies. I’m sure she’ll love them as much as I did.

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

What a sweet idea! You’re welcome, Tara! 💕

  14. Emily Jordan

I remember loving the tins but hating the roller-ball because my lips were so sticky that my hair was constantly stuck on my lips. Thanks for the nostalgia today.

  15. Erin

Why aren’t the highlighted deals factoring shipping anymore? The “final cost” isn’t “just $6.93” if you have to spend $40 for free shipping. And where’s that math coming from? Two at $5.50 is $11, not $11.99 and 10 percent off that is $10.79, not $13.85. At $5.50 apiece, they’d be $9.90 after discount, or $4.95 PLUS shipping. . . . Unless you’re also buying an additional $30.10 in order to get free shipping. 😉

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Whoops! Thanks so much for pointing that out! The deals have been updated to show that the totals include shipping. Hope this helps!

  16. Heidi N

I swear I’m not a hoarder, but I still have a vintage bottle of Maybelline bubblegum Lip Potion and a Village Lip Licker tin in watermelon. They’re both empty, but I can still smell them! They are in my middle school time capsule.

  22. Pam

If you create an account you can use the code FREESHIP and get free shipping. Although you cannot stack with the 10% off code, but I saved more by using this code. Thanks for the nostalgia, I used to wear this lip gloss all the time! LOL

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

SWEET! You’re so welcome, Pam! Thanks a bunch for the heads up!

  23. Tricia

I bought a watermelon tin this fall at Francesca’s at our mall for about $4:) I was so excited, my 16 year old thought I was crazy!!

  24. Francie

The lip smackers were produced in Minnesota by the girls who worked for Village bath products,a division of Minnetonka Labs. And then changed to Soft Soap and sold to a different division of same company. Softsoap later sold to Colgate. The rest of the products which were many, Sold to a company called Tsumora. Sad that they do not talk about the history and the involvement of MN for this product! I worked for Softsoap and Minnetonka brands when we produced this product.

    • Jennifer (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks for sharing that, Francie! It’s cool you were able to be a part of the production of this!
