Pharmacist here; just be aware that even though no personal info is requested to sign up, the company does receive your personal medical information (name, age, medication, etc) when the claim is processed/when the card is used. This is true of all the discount cards.
Can someone explain to me how these things work? Are they used in conjunction with insurance?
One or the other… I just do the cheapest it could be either insurance or discount card but, you can’t do both.
I don’t know but I use good Rx and I’m comparing all the ones we use and they are all a lot cheaper with good rx plus with good rx you don’t need to put any of your personal info. We have a dog that needs med like an (well he is 12 so he is an old man) and we use good rx with no issues.
My doctor calls in his prescriptions. How does that work. Do I look up the medication in his office before he calls it in and then I choose which store he calls it in to? Can’t anybody explain this to me? Please. My brother has crohns and his meds are expensive even with medicare and his other insurance.

So do I do that in my doctors office before he sends the prescription in over the computer? I can search all I want but I can only change pharmacies so many times. I can’t change pharmacies every time I get a prescription can I?
Good question! When I get a prescription from my doctor’s office, they always ask what pharmacy to send it too. That way it goes to the pharmacy I prefer.
We use good Rx for our dog and if the discount card for that month is cheaper (rates can change at any time) we just get the new Rx card from goodrx and call the pharmacy to have it transferred. Super simple. This has saved us tons of money.
I guess because my doctor sends all prescriptions over the computer network I am not eligible for this app.
you should be able to show your card(either through the app or an email) to the pharmacy when you go to pick it up BUT, if you know the medication beforehand, I would search to make sure the pharmacy you want to use will accept ValpakRx!
