Trader Joe’s Ube Purple Yam Flavored Ice Cream Is Back
Here’s the scoop on this popular ice cream from TJ’s!
Trader Joe’s Ube Ice Cream is back for a limited time only! This popular ice cream is unique for its uncommon ingredients (purple yams, beet juice and grape extract!), its naturally purple hue, and its sweet and earthy taste.
Ube (pronounced OO-beh) is a purple yam from the Philippines known for their rich color and mellow flavor. They’re a popular ingredient in jams, cakes, and candies and even ice cream!
Stetson (our fearless taste-tester and a notorious ice cream-lover) grabbed some Ube Ice Cream from Trader Joe’s to give it a try. Here’s what he had to say…
“This ice cream was very light and easy to scoop out. It had a vanilla/almond flavor that tastes really good in my opinion.”
This limited-edition flavor is currently available at Trader Joe’s for $2.99 per pint while supplies last. Keep your eyes open on your next grocery run and try some while you can!
Love these posts from Hip2Save. Would never know about these new items otherwise. Will check it out on my next trip to TJ….thanks so much 🙂

I love everything ube! Just got some ube baked goods from Red Ribbon bake shop. I would love to try this, but everytime I pass by TJ, there’s always a line wrap around the bldg.
I love Ube Overload cake from Red Ribbon.
Yup it’s so good but oddly does cause me to bloat and feel gassy afterwards
It’s Pronounced Oobe (purple yam) Ice cream :). Popular favorite of many in the Philippines.

Trader Joe’s also has ube mochi pancake and waffle mix. I just got some of that and the ice cream. I read that the mix is much better for waffles than pancakes.
Thanks Kathy! I didn’t know they sell UBE WAFFLE Mix I’m going back tomorrow to TJs! I looooove everything Ube! And thank you Hio2Save for reminding me that they’re back!
YUM! Thanks for sharing, Kathy! We’ll have to try that too!
