This Amazon Cheese Grater Is Seriously the Grate-est!
It’s almost too gouda to be true!
Shredding cheese might become your new favorite hobby with this multi-purpose cheese grater! I know what you’re thinking, “Taylor, it’s just a cheese grater”… but I’m telling you, it’s actually more than that thanks to its zesting attachment and storage container!
You may have also seen a version of this smart design available at Ikea (in-store purchase only), but if you don’t live near an Ikea or don’t want to wait for stores to reopen, this is a super affordable option that won’t disappoint!
Just an FYI that this is not a sponsored post, just an honest review about a new kitchen gadget that I’ve been lovin’!
Here’s why this nifty kitchen gadget from Amazon is an absolute must-have…
It takes the mess out of grating cheese.
I’ve avoided block cheese and graters in the past because I simply hate the mess. Cheese gets all over the counter and if it’s on the counter, it’ll likely end up on the floor too. However, this genius cheese grater design has a convenient storage compartment for the cheese to fall into as you grate. 🙌
You can also store any extra cheese in the handy compartment and place it in the fridge for later use. I call that EASY CHEESY!🧀
“Fast and convenient design… we love it. Both sizes work very well and with less of a mess to clean up.” -Amazon user review
The citrus zester gets the job done!
Need some fresh zest for a lemon drop or dessert garnish? Let your cheese grater do the work for you. I tested out the zester side of the grater on a lemon and it could not have been easier!
The blades are perfectly sharp but strategically angled so you don’t accidentally zest your finger too. 😬
“I absolutely love the zester! It’s quick, super effective, and I don’t worry about zesting my fingers!”-Amazon user review
This cheese grater is the perfect size to avoid drawer jams.
Nobody likes bulky kitchen gadgets that don’t fit anywhere or constantly get stuck in the back of a drawer. Fortunately, the size of this dual cheese grater citrus zester is just right.
It fits in my utensil drawer easily and has never gotten wedged under something while opening the drawer.
“Works wonderfully and easy to store. I like that it is large enough but not so large that it is difficult to store.” -Amazon user review
It’s so affordable!
You can snag the Cheese Grater Citrus Zester with Food Storage Container for just $11.99 (regularly $12.99) on Amazon, plus free two-day shipping for Prime members! If you were to buy a citrus zester and basic cheese grater separately, you’d end up spending over $20, meaning you’ll save money and save on space with this multi-tool.
“I didn’t plan on using it often, so I figured this would be a cheap buy. Quality is MUCH better than I expected, so much so that I use this grater several times a week!” – Amazon user review
Get savvy with your cheese grater!
This cheese grater can be used on so much more than cheese and citrus fruits. Here’s what else you can do with it:
- Turn fresh tomatoes into puree
- Make your own bread crumbs with toast
- Grate chocolate shavings for baking
- Shred whole potatoes for hash browns
If you like efficiently designed kitchen gadgets that simplify cooking and prep work, you’ll fall in love with this cheese grater just as I have. Ready to get better cheddar? Head this way to add the clever cheese grater to your shopping cart!

This is an awesome little tool! Love it and will order for a good friend.
We never buy cheese already grated. Look at the ingredients on the package. In many cases, it contains cellulose to keep the cheese from sticking. Cellulose is basically tree bark….gross!
Great gift idea, Bunny! To keep freshly grated cheese from sticking, you can add a little cornstarch (about 1 tbsp. per lb. of cheese) and shake it up in a Ziploc bag. It really helps!
Bought one of these from Ikea a few years ago. A little bit smaller than this one but half the price. Love it!
That’s awesome! Thanks for sharing! SO glad to hear you have been loving yours!
Was going to say the exact same thing
We love our IKEA one too!! Next time we go, I will get another one. We go through blocks of cheese like crazy! Good to know that there is another one very similar to ours out there!
I’ve had one from IKEA for many years. Such a handy kitchen tool that includes storage. Just a few bucks at IKEA, so save your pennies if you live near an IKEA and can pick one up there.
Happy to hear you’ve already got one! It is such a nifty gadget🙌
Yes me too! I’ve had it for nearly 10 years
I love the idea of it, but where do you store the grating plates? They would just be lying in your drawer/cabinet?
Hi CJ! Yes, if the storage container is being used, I would just store the other components in a drawer with the blades facing down. They really don’t take up that much space!😊
I too have had the one from Ikea for many years and I love it. I think I only paid $2.99 for it. The concept is great. I’ve probably had mine for 15+ years and it’s still going strong and very easy to wash when compared to a traditional grater.
Wow, 15 years?! That’s amazing! I agree with you, it is very easy to wash.🙌
IKEA doesn’t have it anymore? I checked their website and I only see 4 graters and none w/ a storage container that catches the food. I wonder if they have it in store or not at all (not that I can get to their store anyway)
They do have them. I saw them 5 months ago. About $5ish
Hi there! We have an IKEA near us and picked one of these up. They are amazing, however, don’t let your husband use it too close to the stove because it will melt! Ugh!
Wow! Guess it’s a man thing. My husband has melted quite a lot on the stove, from containers to microwave covers lol
Haha good tip! My husband is a stove-melting offender too.😆
i also have the one from IKEA and i love it.
About how much grated cheese does this one hold. Anyone know? Thanks…
Good question! I tested this by pouring an 8 oz. bag of shredded cheese in the storage compartment and the whole thing fit. I actually had a little extra room left, too!
I need a new grater. Has anyone used this to grate zuchinni?
Hey Kelly! Yes, I’ve used this to grate zucchini and it worked really well!
Haha. Feel the same way about cheese-grating mess. I had a smaller one years ago but it didn’t really work for me. Grating at a flat angle was awkward and I never used the container to store cheese. Who has leftover cheese anyway?!? I finally broke down and bought the Oxo grate and slice set and it ticked all the boxes! Small footprint and all the blades store neatly in the container when not in use. I really like the slice blades for when I don’t feel like risking my fingertips on my large mandoline. . . . Then Sears went out of business and I also bought a slim Oxo box grater with a measuring cup, which I use when grating larger amounts. Also fantasic with a small footprint. Grating vertically is more efficient, so if you grate large amounts, stick with a vertical grater.
Good to know! Thanks so much for sharing that tip, Erin.❤️ I’ll have to check out the Oxo design!
I have had one like this for many years and love it! I have weak wrists so using a stand up grater is difficult for me. My grater has rubber on the base to hold it still when I am grating cheese so it won’t slide on me. I just put my hand on the front of it while grating just to be sure it won’t move on me. I have gone through 3 stand up graters in the time that I have had this grater so it does last.
In reply to Taylor (Sidekick) thank you for the quick response. I want one now!
You’re welcome!😀 You’ve got to get yourself one, Ruby!
If your grating a large amount of cheese, the Salad Shooter works great! I have used if for many years and I love it!
Thanks for that suggestion, Jen!
i got mine in IkEA a couple of years ago and love it is exactly like this one but in light blue
I‘ll stick with the food processor for grating my cheeses … in seconds … guess I’m lazy😂
Smart! Food processors are the best!
I’m lazy and use my food processor lol. It all goes in the container.
I grate frozen butter when baking scones or biscuits. This looks like it would be “grate” for that as well. Can’t wait to try it!
This grater would definitely work for grating frozen butter, I hope you like it as much as I do!
I got this grater a few years ago and love it! It is so handy.
Glad you’re enjoying your grater, PJ, it’s such a neat kitchen gadget!
Is five bucks or so at IKEA?
This amazon one is overpriced. You could get 3 at ikea. I have mine from 10 years ago still.
I believe it is somewhere right around $5, however, it’s unavailable online so I’m not positive on the current price!
$4.59 on ebay with free shipping (from China)

Thanks for sharing that! It looks like the design can be purchased at numerous places🙌
I have two of the Ikea ones. I found them at my local Goodwill store. I love them!
