This Reader & Her Family are Helping to Make Sure Children Have Gifts to Open on Christmas Morning
Every child should smile on Christmas… ❤️
With the holiday season quickly approaching, we are all looking forward to giving gifts to our friends and family. While we give to our loved ones, it’s also important that we reflect on those who may not be as fortunate as we are this time of year, especially the children.
The good news is there are many different organizations that you can work with to help make sure every child has a gift to open on Christmas morning. Hip2Save reader, Casey and her family participate with a couple of these charitable organizations and are sharing why giving back is so important and meaningful to them.
“My husband and our 5 kids have been collecting toys for the last 7 years to donate to Akron children’s hospital and also our local Elks lodge who provides kids in need with Christmas morning gifts.
Pictured is just one of the two carloads we’ve done so far this year. We do this for two reasons… the first is that we’ve had to have help ourselves one time many moons ago so we know the struggle is real.
The second and most important reason is to honor my brother who passed away in an accident seven years ago. He may have been 28 but boy did he love Christmas! He always made sure no kids went without at Christmas.”
Akron Children’s Hospital is a pediatric acute care hospital in north-east Ohio that provides care to infants, children, adolescents, young adults, aged 0–21, and even some older adults.
The Elk’s Lodge is an American fraternal order that provides healthful activities, guidance, and assistance to over eight million boys and girls every year.
Thank you, Casey, for sharing your heartwarming story with us. What a wonderful way to honor your late brother and give to children in need at the same time. I’m sure your brother is extremely proud of the inspirational work you and your family are doing as are we. 💗

That’s awesome, we donated all kinds stuffed animals and coloring supplies to Akron’s children’s hospital a few years ago. My nieces loved doing it!
This is amazing. What a wonderful family and your brothers legacy is living on.
What a wonderful thing. So refreshing to hear of such kindness. This has been encouraging and inspiring! Thank you for sharing
This is wonderful! I usually work with an organization that provides for the homeless in my hometown but, with COVID, have been unable to this year (per city ordinance). A neighbor of mine is collecting items for orphans. With help from Hip2Save, I’ve been able to donate clothes, shoes and other items to them instead.
Thank you for sharing this story. What a wonderful tribute to your late brother, Casey, and one that is impacting not only those in need, but also your own children by instilling the value of giving in them. Beautiful!
Beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
What a wonderfully generous thing to do!! I grew up with my parents always giving to the needy, no matter how tight things were for us and I have continued to do with my own children. Stories like this warm my heart! Thanks for sharing!!
Great job! May God bless you.
Love it ❤️
Is there a way to contribute to Casey and her Christmas toys for kids? I grew up in Akron and I would like to help.
Akron Children’s is an amazing independent hospital that charges reasonable rates and provides amazing service. We live 25 minutes away, and I am grateful for the care they provided when my son went into anaphylactic shock last year. They charged less for a night in PICU, then Cleveland Clinic charged me for a few hours in the ER. If anyone is looking to donate directly to them, here is a link to their donation page:

That is awesome!!! Thanks Hip2Save for always sharing the best deals and Casey for your servant heart! The world needs more kindness! 🥰 Love this share!
You are welcome, LG! I haven’t seen you in a while – hope you are doing well!
Thank you H2S n Casey for emphasizing the importance n joy that come from giving. So true…while it is easy to indulge ourselves n loved ones with gifts during the holidays, we must remember that there r many, near n far, who could really use gifts and love too. I’m looking forward to donating toys to the Montagnard refugee children in our area. I’m hoping to get personal referrals so I can drop off the gifts n social-distantly meet the family. I’d like to have a personal experience n make new friends.
What a beautiful story!
Akron Children’s is an amazing hospital! My daughter had a week long stay a few years back and they were top notch. We have taken many donations over the years to stock their gift closet. My daughter only has fond memories of her stay! It’s great to see families coming together to make sure kids all have a great Christmas.
I bought all the candy after Halloween , my brother going to Mexico to where there is no running water no electricity and the kids – no toys – I’m the one that buys the stuff and he takes it – got the candy – getting socks, pj at Walmart for the bags and got no sew blankets to make them at Joann craft store 2$10 making 20 and went to Walgreens to get some pillows and walked into cvs to use some of my bucks – and hit the jackpot manager said your just in time all the backpacks 9.99 for $.99 cents and the $14.99 for $1.49 just now – and got my candles and free lotions to give to some people and so grateful for the tips
Love this inspiring, thrifty, and generous story!
Loved reading this! Thanks for your generosity, Casey. We have been blessed by the wonderful care that Akron Children’s provides as well.
It’s amazing how a little help goes a long way. God bless the hands that help even when their hands and houses are empty.
