This pool accessory idea is sure to make a splash!💦

The prices of dollhouses and accessories are a bit out of control lately so we love it when we get ideas and inspo on how to make our own DIY doll accessories using everyday items.

This week, we are sharing Hip2Save reader Megan’s idea on how to bring summer to the dolls with a pool accessory made from a classic hair-styling tool! To pull it off yourself, all you’ll need is $1 and a ride to Dollar Tree!

I thought I’d share this affordable dollhouse accessory find (under 20¢ each). With pool season coming up I noticed these hair curlers at Dollar Tree look just like tiny dollhouse-sized pool noodles.

Pictured here in these photos is our beloved “Bob the Orangutan” after his work from home day on zoom. I’ll be sending the remaining noodles to my nieces for their dollhouse.

The wire inside the curler can be unclipped but for our 3-year old that wasn’t a safety concern so we just left the wire inside so the noodles stay in position. The lime green noodles are thicker than the pink noodles.

Thanks, Megan, for this ADORABLE dollhouse accessory idea! These curlers look exactly like mini versions of pool noodles and something the kiddos will love using, they could even color or paint these curlers to give it some personalization! This is so fun, creative, and best of all, affordable – which you know we love!😍

    Will they float?

    • Meg

They will float alone in water since they are the exact same material as pool noodles just miniatures. You might want to unclip the wire insert before testing with water since that might rust. My guess is the lime green thicker one might be able to hold a tiny light weight toy the pink one probably could just float next to a seated doll. Let us know if you test it out in actual water what you discovered.

I was just thinking if you cut them in half and loop fishing line through them you could make a small raft or pool lilo that will have a much better chance of floating in real water.
