There is an app called Yuka where you can look up the brands of makeup or beauty products, even food, that tells you whether or not they are good for your body and if not they suggest healthier replacements . 🙂
It’s incredible the amount of bad stuff allowed in things we use everyday. Sure some may be in small amounts but if you are using several things containing bad things and using it everyday, overtime it can wreak havoc on our health.
Wish I had the knowledge when I was younger!
Thanks for the tip! Have you tried the Yuka app on Tarte products?
I did look it up. Some of the Tarte products received excellent ratings and other Tarte products received poor ratings (by this particular app)…so it’s not all across the board.
I think you can scan the barcode on items for free if you have it in front of you but to look up with a search tool, it is like $10/year. Hope that helps!
P.S. I always read the poor ratings to find out why they were rated poor and decide for myself whether or not it’s worth the risk.
Also, keep in mind this is just ONE app, there are probably other apps that say other things, so I am not claiming this app is even correct but for me, it’s like a guide to encourage me to look further into the products I buy. More mindful shopping, I guess. It inspires me to educate myself.
Just like you can’t believe everything you read on social media, same goes here… take the info you get and look further into it if it seems concerning.
We are all responsible for doing our own homework. 🙂
