It is an in-store deal and you will receive a printed register reward. It is not an online deal. Walgreens offers two separate reward systems. In-store deals are listed in the Weekly Ad found in the app. Online deals are found on the website in the “Walgreens promotion terms” page. Just google that phrase “Walgreens promotion terms”. Online deals earn digital rewards called Walgreens Cash. Online and in-store can offer equivalent deals but very often do not.
Thanks so much for the helpful response! 🫶
Thank you. Never knew Walgreens has two different reward systems … how stupid and confusing is that? lol – anyway, appreciate that you explained this to me

Oh you are so welcome. I agree it is a very confusing and opaque system to learn. However it is absolutely the most lucrative place to coupon once you have got it down. Walgreens maybe 15 or 20 years did try to simplify it and get rid of Walgreens Cash. It went over like a lead balloon with customers and Walgreens took a hit financially. I think it took them about a year to revert back. You never know what Walgreens will do next so maybe they will simplify again? My very best wishes for great shopping.
If I use Walgreens Cash to buy items that qualify for Walgreens Cash, will I receive the Walgreens Cash or no? Thanks!
Hey Carmen! It can work for the deals that have a limit offer where you have to purchase a certain number of items. It is a bit more difficult on those offers where you have to spend a certain amount, as that requirement needs to be met after rewards are applied. Hoping that helps!

Walgreens has two types of deals. Watch for the exact wording of the ad or in the app if an online deal. If it is a “Buy” deal ( example Buy two Crest toothpastes earn $5 Walgreens cash) use Walgreens cash and earn back WC with no worries. Now if it is a “dollar threshold “ deal (example spend $25 on Nivea lotion earn back $10 in WC) you must carefully calculate how much Walgreens will credit that you have actually spent. NEVER rely on the estimated cash Walgreens will give you in the app. There are two things that count towards your spend total. Manufacturer’s coupons and your actual out of pocket payment. Paying with Walgreens cash acts as a discount and subtracts from the amount Walgreens will consider you have spent. So on the Nivea example above if you bought $25 of Nivea and used $5 WC then no you would not earn back additional WC. However if you bought $30 of Nivea and used $5 WC to buy then yes you would earn back WC. The trick is that manufacturers coupons count towards your spend totals so use as many manufacturers coupons (not Walgreens coupons) as you can. That’s the very basic outline to start with.
Do you get In-Store Rewards after online order pickup?
Hi Sam! In-store rewards are only earned and printed at the register when shopping in-store. Online order pick-ups do not print those rewards, though you can earn Walgreens Cash still on those!
