On September 30th, distribution of the “Weighted Goods” Walmart Class Action Lawsuit Settlement payments commenced to eligible claimants! If you filed a claim during this lawsuit, check your account to see if you received payment! Hip Sidekick Angela and Denise received theirs via Venmo and Zelle.

Here is more information about the lawsuit:

Walmart shoppers who purchased certain sold-by-weight meat, poultry, pork, and seafood products (known as “Weighted Goods”) and certain organic oranges, grapefruit, tangerines, and navel oranges sold in bulk in mesh or plastic bags (known as “Bagged Citrus”) may have been eligible to file a claim in a class action lawsuit against the retailer.

If you have questions about your payment, please get in touch with the Administrator. If you elected the Mastercard Pre-Paid Digital Payment Card for your distribution method, you can access important information regarding your payment here.

Walmart denied the allegations that customers paid more than the advertised price of these goods, but they agreed to settle with customers who purchased the affected products between October 19th, 2018, and January 19th, 2024. The Court approved the settlement at the final hearing on June 12th, 2024. Class members who submitted a valid claim form may be entitled to a cash payment.

Proof of purchase was not required for smaller claims. Here’s the payout information, based on the number of qualifying products purchased:

  • Up to 50 qualifying products during the class action settlement period without proof of purchase – $10
  • From 51 to 75 qualifying products during the class action settlement period without proof of purchase – $15
  • From 76 to 100 qualifying products during the class action settlement period without proof of purchase – $20
  • 101 or more qualifying products during the class action settlement period without proof of purchase – $25.
  • If you have receipts or other proof of purchase for any number of qualifying products, you can claim 2% of the total amount spent, up to a maximum of $500.
