Just announced: Target stops taking checks!

Target Cash Register

Did you know that Target still took personal checks? Unfortunately, it will now be a thing of the past!

Target recently announced that they will no longer accept checks as a form of payment starting July 15th! The decision was made based on extremely low volumes of use and still offers several different ways that you can pay at the register.

You can continue to pay with cash, credit cards, and a Circle Card (formerly the Target RedCard) which includes an extra 5% discount and free shipping on every order.

What do you think about this change? Let us know in the comments!

    Does this include similac/formula checks

That’s a great question and I’m not seeing anything noted on that. You could always double check with the customer service at your store to see if those might be included. ❤️

      • Jason

I talked to the store manager at the store near me and they said that they will NOT accept the similac checks also!

        • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Thanks so much for the heads up on what you heard from your store!

The reason being they will NOT accept the similar checks or anything like that is because they get deposited like a check and since they are not going to accept checks with the new policy.

Good to know! Thanks again! ❤️🤗

That’s a shame. No checks will be accepted. Our nonprofit only uses checks to keep the cost down. We have 91 offices throughout Southern and Northern California and spend an average of $12 million a year at target for supplies, office supplies, cooking utensils, and food. I guess we’re only the little ones and we don’t matter that’s OK. We will find other places to shop that will only increase Profit for Costco and Sams Club sorry target! we will be watching for target to close many more stores now we saw it coming before in the prior years before target started closing stores. Wait and see what happens to them now .if you Have target stock this is a time to get out. By the way, be on the lookout for closing KFC’s and other familiar small corporations and franchises if you’re an investor make sure you do your diligent research.

I’m sure Target will be fine. Those who insist on writing checks however, will probably find that less and less businesses accept them. The are easily forged. Use a debit card..

    It’s not those “who insist”
I am a VA caregiver and fiduciary and am only allowed to purchase items with checks so there is a paper trail to help with accounting. Now I can’t shop for my veteran at target.

    • Amber (Hip Sidekick)

Sorry for any confusion and disruption this change may bring to shopping for your Veteran. My dad is also a Veteran and works with his local VA in fundraising etc. If you have a Caregiver Support Coordinator, you could try reaching out to them, to see if they may have any changes or updates in the purchasing process. I also found this number for the VA Caregiver Support Line if also helpful. 💕 1-855-260-3274 Huge thanks to you and your Veteran. ❤️

Yes, too bad they’re not accepting checks. We also write corporate checks and spend about $34 million a year at target so get ready your debit card advice, newbie in life get ready and watch all the closures happen. It’s right under everybody’s nose. You can not notice if you’ve been watching over the years. Target has already downsized by millions and millions and millions and A lot of jobs have been lost as a result of this. we are a profit corporation not a nonprofit that was mentioned above but debit card generation is definitely here. Unfortunately we need a paper trail as well, but debit card babies beware I have a 17 year old granddaughter that couldn’t even count money and write any simple checks because they don’t teach it at school anymore. She had never even really seen money and didn’t know what a $50 or $100 bill looks like but we can’t stop this kind of change get ready for the cashless Society and The government to really control your money and know all your personal affairs because it’s coming not only have they already implemented some changes. It’s prophecy for anybody who believes in the Bible we’re gonna be a one world nation with one world money, and believe those times are not Going to be pleasant read your revelation Chapter in the holy Bible
I’m not trying to be a Bible thumper or push a religion down people’s throat. I don’t think it should be done that way but I remember about these things and stories in Sunday school and Sunday school over 50 years ago and things that my dad talked about have happened as a result of these teachings, be ready everyone because it’s hot in Hell and I don’t wanna go there ! Hope you don’t either
