McDonald’s RECALL: Shrek Glassware!
Today, McDonald’s issued a voluntary product recall of the 4 Shrek Forever After promotional glassware currently being offered in U.S. restaurants. Although there have been no confirmed cases of illness or injury, the glasses apparently contain cadmium, a toxic metal. If you have any of these glasses in your possession, you are advised to stop using them immediately…on Tuesday, June 8th, you can visit the website here for additional instructions on how to return the glassware and request a refund.

They were even made in the US! my son is sooo upset about this! Oh well.
I actually bought one for my daughter and son. They have both used it many times. Scary.

i this article this morning. sad:( i love my shrek glasses. i have the shrek ones from last time…i have the mickey ones, i have the coke ones….now if only mcdonalds would get plates, i’d have enough dishes in the kitchen. i call it my fine china:)
I am so upset b/c Mcdonald’s had a recall for this SAME PROBLEM Last year in another toy they issued. MY son has been drinking out of the two glasses we have several times. So, we’ll see but I think it’s crap that we have to wait until June 8th to find out how to get Toxic drinking glasses out of our homes.
I read an article about these glasses on AOL this morning. The glasses were actually made in New Jersey and not China, for once!
My son (3.5yrs) has been walking around the house saying how ANGRY he is about this. He even asked if they were going to take away his free movie from red box too! For a little guy this is a HARD world! ha ha!

These were NOT made in china!!!! It says in the article that these were made in the US!!! Also, they said theres nowhere enough cadmium in the glasses to even cause any harm, even if used for a long period of time. They are just recalling it because it does have traces of it.

I agree, i have the shrek glasses and mickey glasses from years ago, and I imagine it has it in it as well, but now it’s the new evil chemical so it will all be recalled. I don’t want toxic chemicals but im’ not freaking out…i just want to drink outta my dang shrek glasses!
Should have read this first. After reading about it in the paper I went to McDonalds this afternoon for a refund and they didn’t know anything about it. I too have a lot of sad faces.
My hubby just left to take ours back. I didn’t know you would have to wait til next week. My kids will be disappointed since we had to sneak them out of the house so they wouldn’t see them. The glasses were so cute too. But it’s scary to know that they contained these toxins.
Thankfully I didn’t get any! I went to McDonald’s drive-thru with my daughter 2 weeks ago, but didn’t see the advertisement for the glasses until after I received the nuggets and saw it on the box. I have been meaning to take a trip to Mickey D’s to get a small fry and a glass because they looked cute and my DD is really getting into Shrek – good thing I didn’t!! Scary stuff!
I’m a manager at a McDonalds. We were notified of the recall last night and our stores (in our franchise) were immediately made aware of the situation. This is a voluntary recall. I know that they say you can’t return them until next week. I find that ridiculous. We’ve already been made aware of how to handle returns and refunds and we began doing so today.
thats crazy! My husband almost bought the whole set for our son and im so GLAD that he didnt!!!
Ugh. We have 3 of them, and the kids really like them. At least I won’t have to keep trying to hunt down the donkey glass any more!
I just returned mine (all 8) to the nearest McDonalds with no problems 🙂 So scary!
Instant collector’s item! If you already have these, hang onto them. Since they will no longer be available, they are worth money!! Wish I had a set or two, but I thought they were so stupid looking in the first place.
