How do you get an Extra Care Buck from CVS?

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

You have to use your cvs card and it will print coupons with the receipt

    • Sam

You have to apply for a CVS card which is free and they scan it when you purchase your products. Extra Care Bucks print out with your receipt. CVS has saved me a lot of money!

      • Natasha

Ditto. According to my account they said that I have saved almost 1500 this year there alone. Most of the stuff has been free, really cheap or paid with my FSA. Which is really nice.

        • Rhonda

          FSA?

          • Natasha

Flexible Spending Account (its like a healthcare spending account) pre-tax dollars you use to pay for healthcare related items.

  2. Ebony

Ooh pooh I was just there and today and didnt see this deal : ( maybe I’ll try tomorrow…

    • Jen

I think that’s for a different type of shampoo/conditioner, so probably shouldn’t be used with this, but I haven’t printed it, so I can’t say 100%.

    • Shelly T.

That coupon is for the medicated shampoo/conditioners, not the one in the deal.

      • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

        The coupon worked for me.

        • missy

Must be nice to use coupons any way one pleases!

          • Jennifer S

Do we really have to be rude?

          • Rose

I happen to agree. I don’t think its rude at all to comment on coupon misuse. I do find it pathetic that people post about using coupons on wrong size products. Oh, it scanned so it must be OK.
            .
I used to work at a grocery store years ago, and at any point any of my transactions could be reviewed to verify coupons matched up to the product sold. My fav cashier at CVS got fired b/c there was a customer who told her it as long as the coupon scanned, it was OK if if didn’t match. A bunch of coupons got kicked back as un-reimburable b/c the store didn’t sell the product/size the coupon was for.
            .
People complain that cashiers are scrutinizing their coupons, so thank people like anon. who ruin it for those who do use coupons properly. I save so much money by shopping sales/couponing that I don’t need to be dishonest to save a dollar.

          • De

Just b/c an item isn’t pictured, doesn’t mean it is the wrong item to be purchased with a coupon. Pictures do not matter at ALL. It says it is for Neutrogena® Therapeutic Hair Care Products. I would classify Split End Mender as therapeudic!

          • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

Actually, if you look on the Neutrogena website, this specific product is NOT listed under their “Therapeutic” line. It is under “Treatments”.

          • jaime

You are nasty. God, its not like shes saying “oh, i know this is the wrong coupon but it’ll probably work”….she genuinely doesnt know. Rude much?

  3. Faith

Sign was up at my store, but ECB didn’t print. Cashier saw sign and printed me off an $8 ECB 🙂 It was worth it!

  4. Jillian

It may be true that it is apparent to a seasoned couponer that scanning a coupon is NOT the proper way to justify it’s usage. So it is understandle to relay the information to others that may not be aware. However, rudeness is unnecessary. Thanks to Collin for all the info!

  5. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

My friend and I headed over to CVS after seeing this post. Great deal, Thank you!!! 🙂

  6. grechen

ws if the 3 oz, i could not find that size

  7. Rose

don’t you think if the coupon was valid for the deal, Collin would have posted the link? I understand you can’t go by pictures, no way for every single product to be included. But this coupon is for a specific product from their entire line, which is whats worded on the Coupon.

    From Neutrogena.com
Save $2 on Neutrogena® Therapeutic Hair Care Products. Starts working from the first use to help eliminate itching and flaking associated with dandruff and other scalp conditions.

The product for the ECB deal is Triple Moisture Mender, for Split Ends. I don’t see a connection between the two lines.

    • jaime

First off, collin is always updating her site with coupons. As awesome as she is, its impossible for her to know every coupon. Maybe she just hadn’t seen that one? You are seriously obnoious.

  8. Tracy Y

sigh. so disheartening to read so much bickering. maybe we need a reminder of the MYOB post!?!?! Anyway, went to CVS and got this deal today – thanks collin!!

    • Collin (Mrs. Hip)

and you probably used the coupon in question….just saying 🙂

  9. Patricia

Can anyone lead me in the right direction to find this? I looked up and down and had an associate at 2 stores helping me look for this item.

    • Shika

Me too couldnt find it. Nor was there a sign anywhere in the store for the ECB

      • Rose

It was not with the regular shampoo/conditioners at the store I went to today, but with the high end stuff (like Nexxus, John Frieda), and grouped with other styling aids & treatments. There were 2 other Neutrogena items on the shelf with the Split-End Mender, and it was tagged as an ECB deal.
        Good Luck!

  10. Mayra Castaneda

I think it is important to obey the rules at the end if we keep doing the right thing using the correct coupons we can keep saving from years to come. Lets not abuse and have the manufacturers or the stores end up with the coupons just because a few people try to be smart.

After all it’s about doing the right thing and at the end we all win. Just a comment

  11. LeAnna

After reading these posts…I have a comment to the ‘better than thou’s’ Do you shop at stores that double Q’s? Then I hope(and am sure you must) take your q’s that start w/ a 5-but clearly state DO NOT DOUBLE and put them last to tell the cashier not to double them! B/C if you don’t…you are doing the same thing that a person is doing who uses a coupon on an item that may or may not ‘clearly’ be meant for that coupon. The coupon manq’s KNOW what they are doing…..IF that Q should not work on that item..it would not! Just like the Q;s that state dnd………and yet we all put them through. So be careful when being a pot and calling the kettle black…….
I consider myself an informed consumer-and an honest couponer……but I HATE to see this crap!

    • AB

      LeAnna,
Just thought you might like to know that DND policy is NOT the same AT ALL. When a store doubles a coupon, the STORE is taking the “hit” for the coupon, and not the manufacturer. The Manuf. isn’t doubling the q, the STORE is choosing to add to your savings, and only gets reimbursed for the face value of the coupon.

I don’t want to be a “better than thou”, but people who use coupons incorrectly ruin it for everyone…that’s why cashiers are so mean, they have people using coupons for wrong items! I want to continue to coupon honestly! It’s hard having a cashier that hates coupons bc some don’t use them as intended…like the lady who would come in a store I go to and use tons of $7 Nicorette qs-when she had NONE! The mrg pushed them thru bc she was so rude—–true story!

      • LeAnna

Using a coupon for an item you don’t have is just wrong….and I certianly would not advocate that. But most stores that have double Q policies-do not want to double Q’s that say dnd. I speak specifically of Harris Teeter in our area. I get cashiers ALL the that take out the dnd’s(even though it is their policy to double)…b/c that Q states-DND! I do understand the store takes the hit on the doubles and triples. I also would NEVER be rude to a cashier. It is just not worth it to me. For the record-I shop at two stores regularly(a cvs and Harris teeter) and I am always complimented on my ‘honest’ couponing! My reputation is worth more than saving 50.cents on a coupon. I pull out my dnd-s and they do NOT double them! If you think about it-why even put it there-the manq is NOT taking that hit anyways. They don’t want it doubled-tripled or whatever……! That is why it is there on the Q. Otherwise that makes no sense. What would the manq care? What about dnd’s that start w/ a 9? they are not doubled……why? If you look at it from your point of view-the store ‘should’ double them too. But they don’t. I just see such disrespect here(which is why I don’t come often any longer). It bothers me. No one here tried to use counterfiet q’s or blatenly beat the system. The store took a Q they thought could be used on an item. I would have thought it was a theraputic item as well. At 7.49 it certianly is a specialty shampoo. Yet knowing what I know-I would not use it.

        • Leah

Actually, it’s Giant Eagle’s policy that they double ANY coupon that starts w/ “5”, even if it says “DND”. I’ve even written to corporate to ask specifically, and they told me that this is true. I would assume that many other stores that double have the same policy. Let’s not get legalistic, here, that’s just silly.

  12. Cherie Roche

Did the Glade deal today and they took all four coupons. When the second one beeped, I said don’t worry about it, it might not work; but, the assistant manager said he could push anything through. Told him I didn’t want to get anyone in trouble, but it was no problem. So we have a great CVS in VA. Thanks Collin and those guys and girls at CVS.

  13. Collin (Mrs. Hip)

There was no sign in my store, but I received the ECB’s. The cashier was very surprised!

  14. Niki

    I can’t find it.

    • JillSaver

I could not find it either in two of my local CVS stores! Is it possible that this is a test product only available in some locations?

UGH! I really wanted to try this product as I have waist long hair! 😉

  15. cindy

I live in N. Cal and had no problem finding this deal. There were plenty in stock and the signage was VERY clear on what products qualified.

  16. Donna Mc.

I forgot to get this on my trip to CVS today…. do you know the date that the EB on this is good through? Like can I get it this next week or was it only this past week?
